That sucks that your family likes them, I feel bad for em.
If they keep talking about when they beat the eagles this year have them remember the Eagles football played last december when we whoped em 44-6. Then remind them that we are dangerous in december and how bad the Cowboys are in december.
There is a reason why they havent won a playoff game since 96.
The division will come down to that game, so i would hype that game up if I were you

I know how you feel man

I lived in Texas for about a year and I was surrounded by Cowboys fans when I was there. Short, dirty, unable to use correct grammar and speech cowboys fans and they talked all that talk when we got beat last year in the early season….but they shut up real quick when that scoreboard said 44-6. Just remember Dallas has never swept us and I think I read somewhere that they have never beat Andy in the second half of the season. I could be wrong I just read it somewhere.

44-6 is the past.

Just like 5 Rings.

Just like 14.

Just like the Eagles ringless domination.

If you guys are going to mention the past, expect to hear about the past. If you guys want to talk about the recent past (44-6), expect to hear about this year.

Let’s see how the season ends, good luck and health. I like me some strong BEast.

Nobody cares about your Super Bowls

I don’t remember them. I watched one Super Bowl that the Cowboys won. I was 5 years old and barely remember.

I remember extremely well, humiliating your cocky arrogant team last year 44-6. There’s a difference between recent history and ancient history.

by tanman5 on Dec 3, 2009 12:36 AM EST up reply actions

Past

Yes 44-6 is past, but recent past. It’s not 10 or 15 years ago. Sure you can bring up anything you want if it’s within a decent time frame…..say 5 years…..hell I’ll even give you 8 years……what do you have for me now Chandus.

Oh that’s right – NOTHING! Because what have the Cowboys done in 8 to 10 years, oh that’s right NOTHING!

Good day sir, try again when you think you have something.

They beat us last time we played

it might not have been a convincing win…but they bested us. Let’s stop talking and look forward to week 17…I can’t bear the thought of their cocky voices if they sweep us…so let’s not let it happen

That's exactly what I said

If you want to talk about the recent past, we can talk about this year. Hell, we can also talk about the past few years… Like Coach Cupcake’s record against your team… Wanna guess? 3-2.

As I said, good luck and health during the rest of the season, if you guys don’t wish that stuff in return, it’s OK and to be expected…

Excuse me? I don’t think anyone on this blog has wished harm on your team, and I read this blog every day. Just because we don’t like your team doesn’t mean we want you guys all banged up. Personally I would prefer you guys healthy so there are no excuses.

I think that was pretty ignorant thing to say but whatever. We’ll see you week 17. You can go back to BTB now.

question is

why are there so many cowboys fans all over the US? it’s like a disease.

by sync on Dec 3, 2009 1:01 AM EST reply actions

The Onion answered that a long time ago

“…

One of the more pathetic aspects of the team from your area is the fact that only people in your immediate area possess an affinity for it. By means of contrast, the team from my area inspires loyalty and affection in individuals who live in many other geographic locations.

To illustrate this point, let me tell a brief story: Recently, I was on vacation in an area of the country far away from my own, and I saw many individuals wearing items of clothing that bore the insignia of my team. I approached one such individual and asked him if he originated from my area. He said no, explaining that he simply liked the team from my area and had for many years. Interestingly enough, during this trip, I saw no clothing or other paraphernalia bearing the insignia of your team.

Do you still doubt that the team from your area is inferior to the one from mine? Just look at our teams’ respective histories. In the past, we have defeated you on any number of occasions. Granted, there were times when your team beat my team, but those were lucky flukes.

The day of the game will soon be at hand. And no matter how hard you pray to a higher power or how many foam accoutrements you wear in support of the team from your area, your team will be defeated. We will win and you will lose. This is your fate.

Prepare for humiliation. It shall be upon you at the designated hour".

which would prove the point that Cowboy fans are only fans because they (at one time) were very good. Thats the point. Cowboy fans from other areas other than TX are fans because they were the teaming winning at the time they decided to choose a team… and thats how it all began. Same with Yankee fans and whatever else. This article is the epitomy of that.. especially with the comment:

Granted, there were times when your team beat my team, but those were lucky flukes.

Its not a lucky fluke when a team better than you beats you. Which has happened more often than ANY cowboys fan would like to admit.

if we are gonna start talking about the onion, then u should read this one
IRVING, TEXAS—In an attempt to cut the franchise’s losses and “move forward in a positive direction,” the Dallas Cowboys severed ties with controversial owner Jerry Jones Monday, ending their tumultuous 20-year relationship with the divisive figure.

According to sources within the Cowboys organization, the decision to release Jones was influenced by the lack of any playoff victories in more than 12 years, the owner’s distracting sideline antics, and his selfish, “me first” attitude, which many said was having a cancerous effect on the clubhouse.

“We value Jerry’s contributions to the Cowboys over the past two decades, but it has become painfully clear that we just don’t share the same priorities,” Cowboys public relations director Richard Dalrymple said. “This wasn’t an easy choice to make, but we’re confident it is a decision that can only make our team better.”

“Losing to our NFC East rivals the Giants in our brand-new stadium was really the last straw,” added Dalrymple, who said Jones “insisted” that the $1.2 billion facility would solve all of the team’s problems. “The Cowboys need to focus on winning, and we can’t do that with Jerry’s incessant ego-boosting publicity stunts, or this opulent sports venue that’s devoted more to himself than achieving postseason success.”

Cowboys officials called Jones Sunday night to inform him he was being cut from the team, ordering the 66-year-old owner to clean out his luxury box and remove his personal belongings from the premises immediately. Jones, who was reportedly stunned to be removed from his ownership duties, issued a statement on his website thanking himself for all his hard work and years of service.

“Well, damn, looks like the ‘Boys couldn’t handle Double J anymore,” the blog post read in part. “I’ll never forget my time in the Big D, and how I single-handedly won three Super Bowls. Don’t worry, Jerry Jones will land on his feet somewhere, and when he does, Dallas better watch out.”

Jones’ questionable conduct on and off the field almost certainly played a role in sealing the troubled owner’s fate. Although some members of the Cowboys’ management have reportedly contemplated Jones’ termination for the past several years, sources said his recent association with known criminals as well as a perceived lack of character and poor leadership qualities provided ample reasons for his release.

Ultimately, team officials said that Jones had become an embarrassment to the storied franchise.

“Between the opportunistic condemnations of game plans, the uninformed evaluations of draftees, and the paranoid delusions that players and coordinators were scheming against him, it’s no wonder the Cowboys have had enough,” NFL Today commentator Boomer Esiason said. “Maybe his absence will finally give the team a chance to start living up to its full potential.”

“Just watching the Cowboys practice without Jones leering at them, you can tell that morale has already greatly improved,” Esiason continued. “They seem so loose and relaxed and their faces are just lighting up with smiles. This is the first time Tony Romo has had fun since he put on the Cowboys uniform.”

Former Cowboys head coach and Fox Sports analyst Jimmy Johnson speculated that the team’s real motivation for cutting Jones was that the aging owner, who turns 67 in October, is well past his prime and would have continued to cost the ball club too much money.

“His skills have really diminished the past few years, and he just can’t make the moves that he used to,” said Johnson, adding that the rest of the NFL was passing Jones by every day. “When you get older you start to slow down, and as you try to compensate, you wind up making poor decisions.”

“He had to eat more than $9 million dollars of salary cap just to get rid of Terrell Owens,” Johnson added. “In this economy? What was he thinking?”

Though his publicist would not say whether the former Cowboys owner was entertaining offers from any other teams, an anonymous NFL source told reporters that, immediately after Jones cleared waivers Tuesday, Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis offered him a record-setting three-year $120 million deal.

Well, Bye Dawk over at BTB said that Celek is having a better year than Witten...

Witten – 59 – 588 – 1 – 75%
Celek – 54 – 601 – 5 – 68%

Meanwhile:

Austin – 42 – 824 – 8 – 58%
Jackson – 44 – 769 – 6 – 54%

You know what? I’ll take Witten and Austin, Celek may be having a better year, but Witten is having a really good year catching and blocking for the run. Austin is also having a better year.

That they are having better years doesn’t make them better players, but they might be heading in that direction.

Viva México! Go Cowboys!

by Chandus on Dec 3, 2009 11:40 AM EST up reply actions

Austin

Austin has 824 yards, yes, but 566 of those come in three games. that means the other 8 games he has 258 yards (32/game). In addition, his three crazy games were against 29, 27. and 20th passing defenses. I’m not saying I think he’s bad, but I think at this point he’s overrated. He did make Sheldon look silly jumping on that route against the eagles, and that’s impressive. However, I would rather have a receiver like jackson that has an impact most games over a receiver like austin that has taken over games, but disappeared quite a bit as well (outside of those three games, he’s eclipsed 50 yards just once).

by eagleyosh on Dec 3, 2009 12:52 PM EST up reply actions

True, and as I said, I'm not saying that he's better

Just that he’s having a better year, you should also mention that Austin, for whatever reason, wasn’t starting and playing much earlier in the year. He took off from his first start in game 5 against Kansas, a team that Jackson also beat like a drum.

Viva México! Go Cowboys!

by Chandus on Dec 3, 2009 1:12 PM EST up reply actions

better year?

How is that, it was just mentioned to you that he did all of his “work” in three games. My friend I don’t know how you do math but 3 games does not make for a better year.

He does have better numbers overall, but does Austin do any good on special teams? How many returns does he have for a TD this season and how many times does he put you in good field position with a kick or punt return.

Man, come on you can do better then that.

by slandog on Dec 3, 2009 1:47 PM EST up reply actions

Well, he has started 4 less games, and for the most part he didn’t played in those games. And he has better stats.

He’s done most of his damage in 3 games? Welcome to the NFL, deep threats. Last year Jackson topped 100 yards twice (close to 30% of his total yards). This year he’s done it 3 times (around 40%).

They’re threats to go the distance at any time, just because they aren’t piling stats doesn’t mean that they aren’t helping their teammates, just because they get an awful lot of double coverage or red level CBs.

Viva México! Go Cowboys!

by Chandus on Dec 3, 2009 3:30 PM EST up reply actions

AND....

Jackson is more valuable because he does it both as receiver and on special teams. Austin is just a receiver and a decent one, but not much of a history, the same with Jackson. BUT the difference is that Jackson does it both at receiver and returning punts.

So if you want to account for how they really help the team you have to include what Jackson does as punt returner…….hence I personally think that Jackson is better that way then Austin and a better over all player for his team.

Rushing Yards and TDs

shouldn’t be forgotten when talking about Djack’s year. If you add in only the one run in the first Redskins game Jackson would have more yards and only one less TD than Austin. That hasn’t been his only sucessful run either.

they thing i find that works best for stupid, young cowgirls fans is...

i always ask them if they’ve ever seen the cowboys win a playoff game in their lifetime. cause most of them young fans never have.

the biggest argument they always throw out is how they’ve won superbowls and we havnt. correct we havnt won what is now called the superbowl but we did win championships.

so as long as their young fans you can always throw in the fact that they’ve never seen their team win a playoff game. its always a good feeling to watch them think about it and realize that your right.

"Never give in, never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.

by ando1213 on Dec 3, 2009 7:17 AM EST reply actions

Exactly

I’ve gone with this argument on Blogging the Boys many times and they say the same thing to me. They say that NFL Championships aren’t the same as winning the Superbowl. When if they would stop and think about it….it’s the exact same thing just the name changed.

Their all idiots!

by slandog on Dec 3, 2009 1:48 PM EST reply actions

I think thats ridiculous because I’ve had the same argument. Whats the difference between winning a champtionship right before it was called a Superbowl or winning the first Superbowl? They say our championship don’t count cause why.. it was sooo long ago? Well a lot of people haven’t won a Superbowl in a long time… some teams haven’t even won a game in the play offs in a LONG time. So what constitutes a championship? Personally we have three. We will always have Three. Period.

by Eaglesgrl5 on Dec 3, 2009 2:23 PM EST up reply actions

Yup, but that’s all that they have to go on. They do have more championships/superbowls, but they don’t even give us credit for the ones we do have. It’s kind of stupid if you think about it.

It’s kind of like saying the Cowboys have never won a play off game because they haven’t since the Wild Card round was started up way back in 1930…..haha!
