The pro bowl is SUCH BS part 2.845435

From Matt Mosley's blog

Defensive end: 3. Osi Umenyiora, Giants; 4. Justin Tuck, Giants: I like both of those players, but this is when you know it's about popularity. It's ridiculous that Trent Cole's not among the top five. And Andre Carter of the Redskins should be in there, too.

Congrats to Osi for being the most over rated DE in the NFL. Tuck? Good DE but with all the injuries he's pretty much been a non factor. The two best DEs in the NFC are Jared Allen and Trent Cole.

Fullbacks: 2. Leonard Weaver, Eagles; 3. Deon Anderson, Cowboys; 5. Madison Hedgecock, Giants. Weaver has brought another dimension to the Eagles' offense with his running ability. Anderson's a pretty good point of attack guy. Looks like Weaver has a lot of catching up to do on Naufahu Tahi of the Vikings.

I'll be honest I know nothing of Naufahu Tahi. Is t his guy the next Lorenzo Neal? If not, I don't see how he holds a candle to Weaver who's been nothing short of impressive.

Punters: 2. Jeff Feagles, Giants; 4. Mat McBriar, Cowboys: McBriar's quietly having a huge season. Hopefully the coaches and players will recognize that.

FEAGLES? He's been amazing in recent years but at this point I think I would keep Sav over Feagles -- he's been dreadful. I'll give it to McBriar that mother fucker can boot 'em.

Tight ends: 4. Jason Witten, Cowboys: He has 243,220 votes and he'll get a strong push from the coaches and players. Right now he trails Tony Gonzalez, Jeremy Shockey and Vernon Davis. Shockey's had a nice season but he doesn't deserve to go in front of Witten. Eagles fans need to go online immediately and help out Celek. His numbers are off the charts this season.

Celek is going to get screwed. His stats are more gaudy than WItten's and more so than Shockey's. I guess he's going to have to have another big season before he gets his name recognized.

FYI it looks like Samuel WILL be the starter along Charles Woodson and DJack will be in the pro bowl as a WR.

I’m not surprised by Celek. I’m okay with that. Not saying he doesn’t deserve it, but like you said, he needs another good year before he gets recognized.

However… the fact that Trent Cole and Leonard Weaver won’t be voted into the Pro Bowl is ludicrous!

But that’s all a moot point, since I really don’t want any of them to play in the Pro Bowl. I’d rather see them in uniform the following Sunday…

The Eagles are the first team in NFL history to have a running back and a wide receiver with 500 yards apiece in the same season before their 22nd birthdays.

it's like politics guys

it has nothing to do with your actual ability, it only has to do with your ability to make people believe in your ability

Yup

Otherwise Eli Manning would not have been in the Pro Bowl last year. He only got in because of fans’ perception.

by tanman5 on Dec 18, 2009 6:48 PM EST up reply actions

and like 3/5 of the Cowboys' offensive line

all they got in on were the Cowboys team label and their own (slight) name recognition.

I mean, fucking Flozell Adams has been to the same number of Pro Bowls as McNabb, while London Fletcher (a guy with talent but almost no name recognition) has been to ZERO Pro Bowls. Pro Bowl voting is frustrating to say the least

by alcatraz0109 on Dec 18, 2009 8:39 PM EST up reply actions

I'm pretty sure Eli was a reserve last year.

Did he deserve it? I don’t think so….tho, I don’t think it was a joke that he made it, he was very good last year.

Usually the guy on the winning team gets the nod anyway..whether or not he has better stats.

You're on crack

NO Eli did not deserve it. He had the same TD/Int stats as McNabb and had 500 less passing yards. Furthermore, his team tanked after he lost his number one receiver.

2008 Stats:
Aaron Rodgers 28 TD 13 INT 7.5 Y/A 102.5 rating 4038 Passing Yards playing behind a sieve of an offensive line
Donovan McNabb 23 TD 11 INT 6.9 Y/A 86.4 QB Rating 3916 Passing Yards
Eli Manning 23 TD 11 INT 8 Y/A 93.0 QB Rating 3316 yards

Don’t see how he deserved Pro Bowl consideration

by tanman5 on Dec 19, 2009 3:20 PM EST up reply actions

Giants 12-4

Eagles 9-6-1

Packers 6-10.

There’s your reason.

Just cuz his team tanked cuz his WR shot himself (and more important..his defense couldn’t sack McNabb even if they had no one even playing O-Line), has nothing to do with the Pro-Bowl.

McNabb always has more passing yards cuz he plays in a pass oriented offense.

Skew the stats to your liking…but McNabb had 500 more yards…and 100!! more attempts.

Should McNabb make it more than he does? Yea.

DId he deserve it more than Eli? No.

I can't understand how your only argument is passing yards anyway...

given the extra 100 attempts…Eli was better then McNabb last year.

Both had very good years…its just pretty funny that McNabb deserved it so much..yet Eli is a ‘joke’ to make it.

I think someone like Rodgers should’ve made it cuz he had better stats too…but that’s not the case..cuz they were false stats.

but up until Gloxico shot himself in the leg, Eli was in some pretty good form and he was spreading the ball around…

Can put his sucess on Plax, Eli has talent, He deserved the probowl last year, McNabb hit “probowl” form until after the voting was official and it was to late to make changes… Also the Eagles played 2 more games that the giants, with the regular season+playoffs…

I mean…it’s not even funny anymore! I can understand Celek as this is the first starting role season and many ppl STILL dont know who he is nor what hes done this season. I bet u more ppl recognize him for his “Captain Morgan” celebrations than what hes done on the field. Dont get me wrong, there are ppl who know about him but he’s still an unknown compared to Tony G, Vernon D, and Witten..even Chris Cooley!! He will have his time though! And the Trent Cole and Weaver thing is a freakn joke..horrible horrible. They need to change the name from “Pro Bowl” to “POPULAR BOWL”! At least it would make sense on how they pick the players! I’d understand that at least!

We can thank all those bandwagon Viking's fans for fucking up the whole voting system.

It just goes to show how big a crock of shit the Pro-Bowl really is. And just for shits and giggles, lets look at some stats shall we?
FB:
1.Naufahu Tahi, 3 yds rushing, 66 yds receiving, 0 TD
2.Leonard Weaver, 249 yds rush, 2 rush TD, 122 yds rec, 2 rec TD.

DE:
1.Osi Umenyiora, 15 total tackles, 6 sacks, 4 forced fumbles.
2. Justin Tuck, 46 TT, 4.5 S, 4 FF.
3.Trent Cole, 48 TT, 9.5 S, 2FF.

TE:
1.Jeremy Shockey, 569 yds rec, 3 rec TD.
2.Jason Witten, 793 yds rec, 1 rec TD.
3.Brent Celek, 681 yds rec, 7 rec TD.

And how in the fuck is Flozell Adams ranked 4th and Jason Peters is nowhere to be found. All Adams does is take cheap shots and trip people. At the top of the list is, guess who, thats right both of the Vikings tackles. SHOCKING!!!

Desean Jackson is second on the list for kick returners behind, guess who, Percy Harvin. Yet again a SHOCKER!!

Can someone tell me why the hell Keith Brooking is higher than London Fletcher, he has half the tackles as Fletcher.

As far as I'm concerned good that they dont

That means they get more time to rest for that Superbowl game we will be playing in and also that the teams next year won’t know who they are and won’t be ready when they get hit with them. Keep not voting them to the Pro Bowl and all of them can keep having seasons like they are having this year when teams forget about them. Sounds good to me.

I myself voted Cole in, he deserves it.

Also…Feagles….I can’t believe that. Tho..maybe its opposing fans voting him in…cuz he really helps with fiel position for the other teams?

Only Giant that deserve it, IMO, is Steve Smith…that’s it.

I know some of you wouldn’t wanna hear it, but Eli Manning at least should get consideration, but Brees, Farve and Rodgers are the top guns for QB IMO.

Eli? I agree. Really, I think its more cuz of there being a lot of QB’s who are playing better this year.

It was really just the losing streak tho, and a lot had to do with the heel injury.

There’s a lot of competition having better seasons anyway. But he’s got an outside shot at 4000 yards, so its not out of the question.

it shouldn’t matter because Celek, Weaver, et al will be starting in the Superbowl … much more important IMHO

help me understand this

I understand that the fans get to vote and its calculated into the whole pro bowl factor but how much really counts? What is it… 1/3? If the coaches and the other NFL have the majority of the vote I don’t see how the fans voting will really make any type of impact. At the end of the day, the NFL will be able to pick who they want right?

In life, as in a football game, the principle to follow is: Hit the line hard.
