Trent Cole fined, but not suspended

It was never likely that Trent Cole would be suspended for punching Giants' OL Shaun O'Hara and today it became official. Both he and O'Hara were fined and both will play this weekend.

Eagles defensive end Trent Cole told reporters in Philly Wednesday he was fined for punching Shaun O'Hara on Sunday night, though he refused to provide an amount.

According to someone informed of the fine from the league, the total was $15,000. The person, who requested anonymity because the league hasn't released the amount of the fine yet, said O'Hara was also fined $15,000 for ripping Cole's helmet off.

Jason Babin said that it was both Chris Snee & Shaun O'Hara who were taking cheap shots.

"I'm going to put O'Hara and Snee on the Babin family Christmas card list," Babin said, according to the Inquirer.

Nice. He’s a good guy, glad to see they recognize that.

Can I just say

I love Jason Babin!

looked like #66 Dhiel started it

after Clemons gave him a weak push after the Eagles recovered Eli’s fumble to seal the game. He turned around and came after Clemons, who was walking away with his hands raised in victory. Dhiel shoved Clemons and then everyone began mixing it up.

It looked like Cole just jumped in on O’Hara because of what he was doing to another Eagles defender at the time. The cameras didn’t catch that part, but I still blame the Giants O-line for the mini-fight.

cole was being a leader

and sticking up for his teamates, especially babin, who were being pushed around. that’s why ohara was fined as well. i have no problem with what he did, and if i was lurie i’d pay it for him.

I have no problem with standing up for your teammates but punching a guy wearing a helmet is just dumb.

and...

At least he wasn’t wearing a poncho and sombrero…then he’d really get a fine…

Hahaha AstrosFan has a great point.

Ocho Cinco gets a huge fine for wearing a poncho and Trent gets about half the fine for punching someone in the head twice. I find that interesting.

Repeat offender vs first time offender, Chad Johnson has been fined multiple times this year each time the amount goes up.

Similar to Flozell ‘Cheap Shot’ Adams was fined 50k for his latest cheap shot which wasn’t nearly as bad as his tripping in week 2 but it was his 4th incident this year the previous three together only totalled 25k. He should have been suspended and better be when he fucks up again.
