Giants fans hurl beer bottles at Desean Jackson

I guarantee if this happened in Philly it would be national news... but this kind of disgusting behavior is overlooked when it happens elsewhere.

With outrageous protection from the offensive line, McNabb waited and waited and watched Jackson run completely clear. The 60-yard touchdown was accomplished with Jackson running effortlessly (and backward) into the end zone. There, he did a "Riverdance" kind of thing as celebration and was greeted by two launched beer bottles from the stands in reply.

I can only hope the Giants organization does the right thing and finds the individuals responsible and bans them from attending Giants games. There is absolutely no place for violence against players by fans. It should be not be tolerated here, there, or anywhere.

Theres a difference between being passionate fans

and being a douchebag, this is absolutely reprehensible. of course lets all keep our demeanor and not have to resort to others using the double standard. we can’t classify all giants fans like this, because we would not want others to do that to us. i know it seems petty, but i almost hope this does make the news somewhere on espn, not really to show classless fans, but to show what sir jackson can make you do. does anyone know if it actually hit him?

It's not like they threw snowballs at Santa Claus or anything

Seriously, if this had happened in Philly, the game would have been an afterthought to the media. There would have been tons of articles about how awful Philly fans are.

I agree

there is no place for that sort of behaviour in any sport.

I to hope they are banned for life.

I just hope we get a chance for a rematch in the postseason.

But that doesn’t make it any better.

bringing attention to the victorino thing… this isn’t even the 1st time this year a philly athlete had a run in with beer coming by way of an opposing fan… shameful – esp. since if the tables were turned, we all know the national media would sing a different tune…

Jurgensen/Kilmer Part II

McNabb/Vick is starting to make me remember the frustration teams had to deal with during the times of that famous QB duo in Washington. I give Big Red props for figuring that dynamic out. I think you can TRADE KOLB. He has played just ok to me, beating bad teams. I’ve seen nothing from him against good teams. NcNabb and Vick have beaten the best. We should give this a try for at least 3 years.

by Trade Kolb on Dec 14, 2009 6:57 AM EST reply actions

That’ll never happen. The only reason the Eagles got Vick is so they could rehab him to the point they could either flip him for a draft pick or let him go as a failed experiment. Luckily it looks like he might bring in a good pick.

by Aphilfan on Dec 14, 2009 7:04 AM EST up reply actions

Which of the two games are you referring to?

The guy has barely played… Jeez.

by JasonB on Dec 14, 2009 11:38 AM EST up reply actions

Besides Vick is a 1 year investment… Eagles Mgmt attempting to see if they can beat the recession by investing $1.5M in a charity case for a year… its taken a while, but dividends are starting to look pretty good. Kolb stays as a solid backup, Vick = Money & Picks.. how is that anything but obvious? Most media has already stopped trying to drum up a QB controversy out of nothing… the rest just need to figure it out.

Anyway, back to the Gints trying to beer batter our best bird.

Giants fans for some reason are underrated for their nastiness. But Philly, Dallas and Washington fans are all pretty damn nasty.

I don't know why

People are shocked by any behaviour in the NFC East. I feel that Giants fans are on the exact same level as Eagles fans. I’ve been to games there and it’s the same feeling as you get at the Linc. Very nasty, indeed. Take the fan and put them in another jersey, take away the accent, and you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between any of the fanbases.

Well, except maybe the Cowboys.

by doubleh on Dec 14, 2009 11:39 AM EST up reply actions

"But Philly...and Washington fans are all pretty damn nasty."

There, I corrected that for you. Being a live long Philly resident and die-hard Eagles fan, I can assure you Cowboys fans are patsies. At least the ones that live in the Metroplex are. If I had pulled some of the stunts I have pulled at the old Texas Stadium while being a Cowboays fan at the Vet or the Linc, I would have been decapitated, and Judge Shameless would have called in “Justifiable Homicide”.

Cowboy fans WHO WERE RAISED ON THE EAST COAST are biligerant and crude, but the run-of-the-mill fan in the DFW Area are patsies, really.

Just sayin.

Although i hate them, i have always been able to have well thought out debates with cowboys and redskin fans (Maybe its my location). Giant fans on the other hand, its like arguing with a caveman. Once they have their mind set, you cannot change it. It doesn’t matter how many stats you can pull out, they will throw out logic and refuse to face reality. Poor tackling resulted in two big plays for giants wide receivers. Eli was good in this game, but he did not torch the eagles d, the eagles d torched themselves. They make those tackles no big plays, not touchdowns, face it, the eagles defense did it to themselves last night, not eli.

No, he’s overrated because 1/3rd of the time he’s an average QB, 1/3rd of the time he’s a good QB, and 1/3rd of the time he’s a great QB. He’s inconsistent as shit, and everyone’s been on his nuts since the Super Bowl. I’ll admit that he played very well yesterday, and even made some great throws and on at least 3 occasions was let down by poor receiver play. However, for every time he’s been let down this year, he’s been rescued by Plaxico twice.

Remember 2006 against Minnesota? Remember last year against us? Probably not. All anyone wants to remember about Eli is that he had four great games in 2007.

Let’s play “Match the mystery QB to his stats!”

Eli Manning is either A, B, C, D, or E. The other QBs are ones who have never won a Super Bowl, and most people consider mediocre.

TD to INT ratio:
A) 1.42:1
B) 1.74:1
C) 1.48:1
D) 1.42:1
E) 1.72:1

Career completion percentage:
A) 56.6
B) 61.1
C) 61.2
D) 60.6
E) 59.6

Yards per attempt:
A) 6.6
B) 7.0
C) 6.7
D) 7.6
E) 6.9

QB rating:
A) 78.7
B) 85.3
C) 82.7
D) 86.0
E) 84.2

A is Eli Manning
B is David Garrard
C is Jason Campbell
D is Trent Freaking Green
E is Mark Freaking Brunell

I’ll admit that Eli Manning has been a better QB since New Year’s 2008, but he’s not a top 10 QB, and you won’t find many people who will flat out say that. He’s been overrated ever since the Super Bowl. Sorry.

I am the people's troll :3™

by yomjoseki on Dec 14, 2009 3:28 PM EST up reply actions

hard to even argue with that bit of proof

I like Eli but man thats solid, especially considering the QB’s you are comparing the stats to. Then again , I try to argue that a QB is a big part of the equation to a superbowl run but there are usually bigger reasons why a team wins. Most noticebly , defense.

"When people talk about Super Bowl dynasties they mention the 1970's Steelers, 1980's 49ers, 1990's Cowboys and the current New England Patriots, but nobody has dominated the Super Bowl like Anheuser-Busch. In recent years, Budweiser has been the MVP of Super Bowl advertising -- making another company the favorite to win the Ad Meter poll was never an option."

Simon Noble

by dubious on Dec 14, 2009 3:32 PM EST up reply actions

see...

and this is how I know who I’m arguing with.

Is he overrated since the SB….are you serious?

He’s stepped his game up since the SB, he’s come into his own.

86.4, 60.3%, 6.8 ypa last year.

93, 60.4% 8 ypa this year.

He’s come into his own as the staff has trusted him more (and still doesn’t trust him enough).

I counted 6 drops yesterday and 2 missed TD/aka drops by Manningham, that’s 8 completions that should be there. Boil that down to what you want….but its been happening his whole career. (that Dominik Hixon drop in the playoffs last year…..not the first).

For real…he’s still underrated and not given the credit he deserves.

Whatever man….keep bringing up these wastes of a QB spot (exept Brunell was damn good for a while tho… and Eli’s better than that right now).

Keep throwing out stats.

I’ll keep saying that while watching the games…more than tolerable plays are left on the field. His whole career.

Last night was one of the worst and obvious displays that his teammates fail him.

Which is why he’s a great QB…cuz he doesn’t care and keeps going (re: keeps throwing to Hakeem Nicks after he shows he doesn’t want to catch the god damn ball).

Sheldon Brown is DAMNED awesome too..

not doubting that….

Only thing I just can’t stand…why is it so easy for me to credit McNabb, when he’s had his share of stinkers against NY (not in the last 4 of course).

…yet, when Eli probably should’ve completed 95%+ of his passes today…yet, like his whole career, WR don’t catch the passes…he’s still ‘overrated’?

He has stinkers, so does your QB.

He also has more good days than bad…they just don’t show up cuz of dropped passes.

"It ain't over till its over"---

by FreeBradshaw on Dec 14, 2009 2:40 PM EST up reply actions

I disagree

Most of eli’s torching were shorter passes where the eagles just whiffed on tackles, poor tackling all night long gave eli his yards and tds, not eli. Compare that to mcnabb and the receivers just were able to get open against the giants dbacks. If the eagles tackle better eli throws for probably about 250 yards and maybe one touchdown(the one to boss) I don’t define that as “torching.”

by PhilsForever on Dec 14, 2009 2:27 PM EST up reply actions

one of the 'broken tackles' one...

was after 2 perfect throws to open WR, who dropped them.

Boss’s drop. Manningham’s ineptness. Smith not catching a TD.

Eli had one bad pass the whole game.
