Maclin's Foot Hurting, Still Expected to Play

Eagles’ sensational rookie receiver Jeremy Maclin has been dealing with reoccurring foot pain throughout most of the season, though not many have noticed. For the last few weeks, the freshman player has been listed on the team’s Injury Report, and it appears the injury he’s tending to has gotten a bit worse. Against the Falcons in Week 13, Maclin (pictured) sustained a minor case of plantar faciitis (defined as inflammation of a thick band of tissue located on the heel of the foot), but despite the injury, he isn’t expected to miss any game time.

Maclin has been sporting a protective boot on his injured foot this week throughout practice sessions, but, again, is not expected to miss any significant time because of the pain. “He could play today if he had to play,” head coach Andy Reid said. “We’re going to give him a couple days of rest, which I think will be good for him and the doctors believe it’s good for him. Then we’ll just see how he is. He should be fine for the game.” With these promising statements, it doesn’t seem likely that Maclin will be held out versus the Giants. He has been a true factor in the Eagles’ offense, and after 12 games this season, has recorded 46 receptions for 623 yards and 4 touchdowns, and would certainly be missed if absent from the lineup.

Can We Please Get Healthy??

I would love to see what kind of team we would be if we could just have out main Pieces all together for several weeks…..get Healthy Mac we Need you to be better then ever down the stretch and going into the playoffs

Glad he can play this week...but...

he better be good enough to go for 7 MORE weeks. I just don’t see from this point out where he’s going to get time to rest. We don’t have any more Tampa Bays or Kansas City’s on the schedule

He can use the week off in between when we win the NFCCG and the superbowl, unless he gets voted into the pro bowl.

Naww..I aint buy'n that Buddy!

NFL head coaches say a lot of things..but ultimately, most of us see right through the smokescreens! Im not hold’n my breath hoping for Curtis to comeback. Dude has to gain his FOOTBALL speed back. Football strength back. And overall has to get in football shape period! I can’t believe Im sayin this but….I have WAY MORE FAITH in Reggie Brown than in Curtis at this point in the season!!!

I want Curtis back!!!

NOW!!! He was for real, not potential. Damn, I miss him.

Could you even imagine him – healthy, along with Westy, Jackson, Maclin, McCoy and Weaver, Celek and Ingram, all healthy, all the same day? McNabb’s head would be spinning and Morningwoogies brains would explode. Has a team ever scored 100 points?

Reggie only showed promise. Curtiss was outstanding. Don’t forget that.

Im not forgetting anything...Curtis WAS good in the past!

Right NOW get can do much of anything becuz if he double injury!! I have WAY more faith in Brown right NOW cuz he’s healthy! Im not a Reggie Brown fan..but he’s healthy. Right NOW he can help us win a game. What can Curtis do right now! That’s all im sayn. What has he done for us lately!! That all im sayin!!!

I dont expect Curtis to come back in Fully strength right away...

It’s gonna take time for him to get back into football shape and be remotely what he was way back in 2007. We really dont need him to be the ’07 Curtis…BUT, if he was, then I believe we would have the best WR corps in the League! I believe its not that “we NEED him to be the Curtis of old” but isnt that what we ultimately want. To have has many explosive players on the field at the same time. To cuz massive damage! Would u rather have 2 fully functional Porsches and one damaged Porsche on the field together or have THREE Fully functional Porsches on the field at once..!

Eagles’ sensational rookie receiver Jeremy Maclin

This might be overstating things a bit. He’s been good, but not quite ready to call him “sensational”

Thanks for the post though, and the explaination of what’s bothering him, though, I’ll forget what it is again the next time someone gets it.

his stats say

he’s been as ‘sensational’ as DeSean in his rookie campaign

His stats may say that, but I would take Desean as a rookie over Maclin as a rookie 10 times out of 10. He was and is much more explosive than Maclin is, and while that can still change, I don’t see it happening.

got a text saying

Maclin and Curtis are questionable – Westbrook is out for the game on Sunday. So we will see how his foot is feeling then.

plantar fasciitis sucks

Its one of those things like tendonitis/shin splints that can only be cured by a few weeks of sitting on your ass which is why its been recurring/getting worse throughout the season. It’ll be pretty painful for maclin to play and the best he can hope for is to try and prevent it from getting worse (by resting/boot etc.).

PS-Maclin’s season has definately in the same league as DJAX’s freshman season, Maclin just isn’t nearly as flashy and exciting to watch.

I like that! Maclin is more of a Do Work kind of WR!

Andre Johnson, Larry Fitz, Reggie Wayne…these cats just do work and let their hands do the talkn! Not sayin Jmac is that great yet..but I like his attitude! He just does work! Good character guy

my dad told me he had plantar facciitis and it was painful up until the day he had surgery to get it fixed.

Although Maclin sat out of this game against the Giants, if he does continue to play the season out, I hope he does get the surgery in the off season. I don’t want to take any chances of it continuing to bother him.
