If this went down in Philly.....
Ok so the above link is a story about a Pittsburgh fan who went to Chicago for a Steelers/Bears game, while there a Bears fan put some grain alcohol in a shot and gave it to him, he passed out and subsequently went blind.
I heard a little bit about this on the radio and in the news, but nothing too major. My question to all of you here at BGN is, what would be the reaction if this sort of thing happened in Philadelphia?
In my humble opinion, William Penn would be strapped naked to the hood of Joe Buck's car and be driven through a corn cob field for about 3 months of ESPN reporting. Also headlines reading "PHILLY FANS GIVE UP ON SNOWBALLS, NOW USE POISON!"
Your thoughts and humorous headlines are much appreciated!
Also, why do you think the media gives a pass to these kinds of incidents (also the stabbing at dodgers stadium during the NLCS two years ago), while blowing up things that happen in Philadelphia? I believe it is just lazy journalists clinging to a preconcieved notion that Philly fans are animals, so it is easier for them to write a fluff piece and just copy and paste snowballs, Irvin, and booing #5, from all the previous anti-Philadelphia columns that have been written.

Because I think shit like that happens much more @ the Linc than it does other stadiums, however, Chicago does have a reputation as well

Straight up freakin evil. And oh yeah ur right…….if this happened in Philly it would be the lead story on ESPN all week long.

Nice Comment
We can’t complain about stereotypes if we’re using them!

Funny images in that post.
I still think we should embrace the whole ‘bad boys fans’ thing. Without actually doing destructive stuff. Might help the home field advantage if our rep gets even worse.
yea
we could be the big scary bully that is always in a movie that rele isnt tht scary at all. everyone just thinks that they are.

My opinion is that there’s a lot of other fanbases that are just as bad as us, but due to lazy journalism when things happen in Philly they get piled on as a characterization of Philly fans.
In chicago, it’s “Wow, THOSE Bears fans are assholes”
If it happenned in Philly, people would say “(All) Philly fans are assholes.”
I’m kind of curious about this one. It’s tragic either way, but from a “if this happened in Philly/judging the perps” perspective, I wonder what the intent was.
Was this meant to be no more malicious than giving someone a Cement Mixer (I forget what was in this, but this was always the 21st birthday shot that would get someone to puke) or some other horrible shot to get them hammered or even sick, or was it really “we’re really trying to poison this dude?”
(Not condoning it either way…just curious about the motivation)
