WOW...Read this it'll blow your mind

Hey guys what's up? I have a lot of free time on my hands actually right now as i don't have school tomorrow or Friday....lucky me! Anyways, I was looking around on yahoo for news about the Eagles, and basically just the NFL in general. One of the articles i found however, astounded me....

http://sports.yahoo.com/fantasy/nfl/news;_ylt=Akxdn_w8dF8Wi7UiKeVe9p7.uLYF?slug=rotowire-notes_110409&prov=rotowire&type=lgns

It's a big article about basically almost every single team in the NFL and some of the players and whatnot....notes, tidbits, little bits of information. However, if you read the paragraph about the Giants and the Eagles at the end (the author doesn't mention the Eagles anywhere else in the article stupid fool >=( lol anyways whining ceased), you'll see comments about Desean Jackson being probably the most explosive player in the NFL (HELL YES BABY THATS MY BOY), and a comment about Jeremy Maclin as a nice 3rd wide receiver option. The comment about Donovan McNabb was the one that astounded me though. Here's his words.....

"Donovan McNabb(notes) has been up and down this season, but his astronomical 151.9 QB rating at home easily leads the NFL."

151.9 QB RATING AT HOME SO FAR....

Even through two games, he has an ASTOUNDING QB rating of 151.9 at home during his two starts at home this season. I thought for sure this was a sham....but I checked out his ratings at nfl.com and it's legit...he really does have a rating of 151.9 (i calculated it myself). He had a near-perfect rating of 157.2 versus Tampa Bay and 146.7 versus Giants. To me, that is something worth noting. That is unbelievably amazing, better than what you can say for anyone else. Even with only two games, it's really rare to post ratings like that. Against Tampa Bay is not too much of a surprise, but against the division rival Giants, it's something that is noteworthy. Of course he hasn't been consistent as mentioned, but we don't know yet if this is pure luck or not. I think you guys might have thought about this and might have known about this too, but I just had the urge to post it. If you didn't know, well here you go =).... Anyways, in my opinion, I think of this astounding statistic like this....

Once is an accident....

Twice is a coincidence...

Three times is a trend...

Let us see how Donovan performs against Dallas come Sunday Night. If it's anything like a reenactment of 44-6 or an offensive juggernaut blowout against Dallas, then you can say with some certainty that Donovan is definitely having one of the best seasons of his career so far....

WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK??

He’s played Tampa and NYG. Let’s just hope he can keep the high level of play consistent.

i was watching sportscenter talk about the the big showdown this week

and their were saying that romo deserves to be in MVP talk. they also mentioned mcnabb should be but they talked about romo more (i really don’t know why, but whatever). Also if you go on espn you can see that its mentioned in a few articles (along with an espn article by MOSLEY saying desean jackson is the most dangerous player in the nfl)

a rating above 100 with 9tds and 1 interception is noteworthy NO MATTER WHO YOU ARE PLAYING, but its a long season

The Cowboy fans over at Blogging the Boys

aren’t sure if they’d even rank Brees as a better QB than Romo.

umm..no?

I am a constant figure at BtB…and no one in their right mind is going to question that Brees is currently a better, more talented QB than Romo. Brees is playing an absolutely lights out, unrivaled game right now. Neither Romo, McNabb and certainly not Eli have anything on Brees right now…statistically and evidently the only guy even in the same conversation right now is Peyton Manning.

Don’t lump us all in the idiots on our blog. They exist everywhere…even here.

Wade Phillips has never won a playoff game as a head coach..he has lost 4 home playoff games.

Actually, in review

that opinion is shared by Aussie_Cowboy who originated the argument, Bishop West who furthers it by crediting Brees’ success to his WRs, the red scare who credits Brees’ success almost completely to his receivers, and finally Terry who goes on to say Romo’s #s are almost as good.

Sorry for not thinking that was consensus, that’s 4 guys right there…

If only New Orleans had a QB like Romo, their WRs wouldn’t have to work so hard to catch poorly thrown balls!

The New Orleans’ receivers are nice, but Brees is what makes that offense, and theyre passing game so ridiculously good.

Without his deadly accuracy and field awareness, I bet we wouldn’t even know most of their wrs names.

LMAO – Newmans pretty fast but not as fast as Jackson. Jacksons 40 time was better than Newmans when he was drafted 6 years ago and I doubt he got any faster. I know Jackson can blow past him, I’m not even worried about that. They will have to double cover him all game which leaves room for people like Maclin and Celeck to break through any open holes.

Even if that was the case – unfortunately for the Cowboys Jackson isn’t our only offensive weapon :-) man I like the sound of that

40 times

have nothing to do with coverage ability…unless the DB is way behind someone and need to catch up. In that case, it’s the coverage wasn’t all that good to begin with. It’s all short area quickness and getting jams on the line to knock a WR off the route.

TB did a nice job of sticking DJax with only 1 catch. Let’s hope the Cowboys don’t look at that tape to closely

by DLawrence on Nov 5, 2009 10:25 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

If you do study that game you’ll realize that McNabb didn’t even have to throw to him cause he broke out the game with a 51 yard pass to Maclin. We utilized our RB/FB to get 14 points and Maclin had another touchdown. So unless your team decides to cover our whole offense like TB did with DJax then we really have nothing to worry about.

Dbl coverage.

Djack was covered by a corner with a safety over the top the whole game.

Our offense doesn’t care because we have other weapons to turn to if they want to focus on Djack…i.e. Mac2Mac’s first breakout performance.

TB is a team not a person

Yes, they hung with him by rolling a safety over the top…I’m not saying DeSean is God! He can be stopped, but not all day by 1 guy. You can’t say that a TEAM shut down DeSean, therefore TNewman will shut down DeSean the logic doesn’t follow.

I would be glad for you guys to double cover him, and see what Maclin can do. Honestly, I would. The last time DeSean was shut down with a lot of attention, Maclin had almost 150 yards and 2 scores…I’d like to see it again, so yeah, follow TB’s lead.

Its less that we complain about you bringing up Super Bowls and more that we’re tired of the Cowboys living on faded glory. Your team has been pretty good in the regular season recently, but collapse in December and the playoffs pretty consistently. In a lot of ways, the 44-6 game was kind of indicative of how a lot of people, not just Eagles fans, look at Tony Romo. Great in October and November, terrible in December.

And like others have already said, your Super Bowls were years ago. 44-6 was less than a year ago and it was a game that the Cowboys absolutely needed to get to the playoffs and yet they rolled over and died.

My point is that

it had nothing to do with mine or the post I responed to. That is all. The poster said McNabb was 11-6 and 7-2 at home vs the Cowboys and I said Romo was 2-2 vs. McNabb. That is all, but thanks for the history lesson.

And last season has no more to do with this season than 2 years ago, or 5 years or the history of the NFL. We all know how much changes year to year in the NFL and even from week to week.

by sduncan24 on Nov 5, 2009 1:31 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

In regards to this..

TB and NYG (the version Philly faced last week) are two of the worst secondaries you can possibly face.

There is no doubt McNabb is playing some good ball right now..but he still has struggled with accuracy at points and has been shaky against a consistent pass rush at times. If he comes out against Dallas and hits his windows and is able to deal with an improving pass rush then the QB rating will mean something… not saying it isn’t there..but the two games sample against two miserable secondaries isn’t enough for me to drink the cool-aid.

Dallas’ secondary is much improved from last season but still lacks the ability to truly shut anyone down. There should be opportunities for big plays as well as some good chew em up drives. If McNabb can get time in the pocket via good protection/play action then he will probably put up good numbers on Sunday night as well…

Wade Phillips has never won a playoff game as a head coach..he has lost 4 home playoff games.

One thing I've noticed

perusing the BGN site and being a regular on BTB is that these Eagles’ fans are not lacking in any confidence whatsoever. I don’t know if it’s false bravado or real or what, but it gets a little unseemly at times. At least the fans at BTB are a little more realistic and don’t think the Cowboys are goiung to win every game, or make wild excuses for the games they lost.

The Eagles have had a great front office for a decade and a fantastic defense, and McNabb is inching closer to the NFL HOF. And no doubt that the Eagles have pretty much owned Dallas since 2000. But really, you guys aren’t even the Buffalo Bills of the NFC. I admire the confidence, but how about a little humility now and then.

Should be a great game on Sunday night!

If you follow this sight alot

Most eagles fans on this sight are really bipolar, we get a good win and we can take on anyone… which is the state we are in now.

After a bad loss to the raiders, a lot of people were unsure if we could even beat the redskins.

After a bad win(if thats a thing) against the raiders most fans weren’t that confident that we could beat the giants.

Now that we are looking like who we thought we were, confidence is high.

Seriously?

At least the fans at BTB are a little more realistic and don’t think the Cowboys are goiung to win every game, or make wild excuses for the games they lost.

No offense but every team has people like this and from my personal experience, the Cowboys have the most skewed perception of reality every year when it comes to their team (at least for the last 13 yrs). I’m not saying you are that guy but if you want to catagorize us then you really have to look at your fanbase which is fulllll of homers.

Consider it positive thinking but a lot of us think we have a good chance of beating the Cowboys based on our progression, it being a home game, the fact that McNabb might of found his nitch for the season, our offense is crazy good, our OLine is finally playing together, our secondary continues to pick off the ball, and the use of our TE/FB is scary. It is not necessarily discrediting your team. You guys look stronger than you did last year but no matter how you look at it – a division game is gonna be tough.

It should be a good game regardless.

I don’t know, I think Redskins fans are the most delusional. At least the Cowboys have a talented team. The Redskins have been a bad team for the better part of the decade but every offseason we have to hear about how their big acquisition is going to completely turn things around and so on and so forth.

The Cowboys on the other hand make head-scratching decisions every season (Roy Williams) and some of them fail (Roy Williams) while others pan out pretty good (Leonard Davis). The Cowboys also seem able to find talent late in the draft or in low-tier free agents (Tony Romo). So, I know we all dislike the Cowboys but its the Redskins fans who are the most delusional.

I don’t know about that – just from my personal experience of course, I can’t speak for everyone. I live in Redskins country (Bowie MD) and they all admit that they suck. Everyone is optimistic in the off season but at least they realize they suck now and need some sort of change. The *majority of cowboy fans I’ve met in my entire life all think that no matter what their record, who their owner/coach/fo is they are the greatest. It doesn’t matter if we beat them 3 hours ago, they will come up with some crazy excuse as to why they are still the best (Americas Team) team in the NFL.

*obviously I’m not speaking on behalf of all cowboy fans but all the ones I know personally.

I live in DC, which is apparently the heart of both Redskins and Cowboys country, and every offseason is the same. Yes, the Redskins fans admit that they are terrible NOW. They always admit they are terrible about halfway through the season when they’re actually terrible. But during the offseason they make these completely unfounded claims like “Devin Thomas is going to be a beast this year!” and I sit there, look at them in a confused expression but let them have their dreams.

During the offseason, yeah Cowboys fans make ridiculous proclamations, but they also at least seem to say “We’re going to be awesome! But if there is one position that might be less awesome than the rest of the its our secondary!” or something like that. Which, to me at least, doesn’t seem any different than any other fan base.

Let the beasting begin.

EG

I think sports fandom is a wonderful outlet for many people to show the limitations of their personality and IQ. That is to say, if you are a morons AND a sports fan, it’s probalby going to come out pretty quick when you talk about your team. (Not YOU EG, more the figurative use of the word ‘you’).

I’m not impressed with many sports fans (Eagles fans, too) and I usually slink off to the corner when the average moron has a half a beer and starts telling me, at the top of his or her lungs, the way it oughta be. And while we have a few of them here on BGN, we don’t have too many.

Anyway, I appreciated your observations of the Eagles momentum and why they could well make a great showing Sunday, right here in he midst of a testosterone slinging match.

We want the Cowboys at their best. The quality of your competition brings honor to your victories.

You’ll have to forgive me then when I read a troll come over from dallas or washington and start talking trash and tell him/her to bugger off , or when I read something thoughtful and well considered and like this post of yours and give you the thumbs up.

I laughed so hard a blood vessel burst.

Username: the red scare

I think our secondary can hang with Philly’s receivers, our front 7 can get after McNabb and stop the run, and our offense can move the ball on anybody.

I don’t think this will be a blowout, but I have a feeling it’s not going to be as close as Iggles fans think.

What a collection of uneducated, uninformed idiots.

Their secondary can hang with Philly’s receivers? Maybe at the line of scrimmage, standing still.

Their front seven can stop Brian Westbrook? Their front seven can’t stop CADILLAC WILLIAMS.

Their offense can move the ball on anybody? Not Denver. And, save Miles Austin, not Kansas City, either.

It’s just such a crock of shit. This isn’t even delusional; this is mentally incapable of any reason.

By far these past 2 drafts have had the most immediate impact than any other draft in memory imo…

Our rookies have stepped up to the plate the past two years and have become stellar performers.

Dispite what most people think

Donovan is having a great year statistically, Here are his numbers

Completion percent: 60.2%
Yards: 1,008
Yards per attempt: 7.6
TDs: 9
Ints: 1
QB Ratting: 103.2
Rush Yards: 74
Rush Average: 5.3
Rush TD: 1
Fumbles Lost: 1

All this and he has only played four and a half games. That putts him on pace to have 3024 yards and 27 TDs with only 4 interceptions.

Let's get it.

I was really hoping this would be the year he hit 4,000 yards.

Let the beasting begin.

its posiable

when I did the math he only has averaged 224 yards a game

Let's get it.

I’ve said it before. Other than McNabb being the Eagles quarterback, I really want him to do well just because of all the shit he’s taken in his career. If, God forbid, he does leave the Eagles and go to a non-NFC East team, I would root for him to win a ring there. Naturally, I want him to win a ring here, but I want him to just get a ring in his career.

I think if he gets the ring, he’ll be HoF material. Until he gets the ring though, he’s only Hall of Very Good.

Let the beasting begin.

thats what I say man

I always root for McNabb after all the stuff he has been through(Boo’d at the draft, Rush Limbaugh, in my opinion never getting enough credit for what he has done here). As far as the Hall of Fame goes I agree with you as well, but Jim Kelly is in the Hall of Fame and McNabb’s numbers are better than his already and they both have similar post season careers to this point.

Let's get it.

Hey now

McNabb’s only 32. He’s still got time.

I personally think he’ll last in an Eagles uni until 34. That’s three seasons, including the remainder of this year. Two-plus more years of what we have right now is something I’ll take in regards to nabbing that elusive ring.

+1 Million

Fuck the haters.

The man is a class act and a model professional athlete yet he is soooo overly judged for no real reason.

Plus, McNabb has done more with less than any other QB that I can think of in recent memory. I’d like to see someone else try and get production out of the likes of Todd Stinkston and Jimmy Trash.

I really hope he can win the big one..as an Eagle so that the critics can Finally be silenced…

Race Card Playing?

You mean defending himself against political figures such as Rush Limbaugh when they make racial allegations for no other purpose but to garnish some extra attention…

Blaming losses on who? If anything the majority of any late game meltdown or would be comeback attempt should be placed on poor play calling and time management. Obviously McNabb has blame for poor throws, but McHaters always like to throw 100% the blame on him which just isn’t true.

Hurt ribs, sports hernia, playing hurt referring to i believe 2 or 3 years ago…let’s throw the ball 50+ times and see if he can last the whole season..which obviously he didn’t, and then balance the offense with Garcia and make the playoffs…that’s just poor playcalling. Ever notice how the playcalling has always shifted when McNabb was injured. Now, we’re finally seeing what a balanced McNabb lead offense can do.

And whiner?…guy threw 4 tds on a broken fucking ankle. Give me a break. At the very least come back with some valid arguments like dirt balls or not hitting receivers in stride as much as he should which he definitely does not.
