Eldra Buckley, the biggest reason we won the game
I was watching the game film of Eldra Buckley on the Eagles game tying scoring drive late in the 4th quarter. On two downs this guy was SMACKED DOWN twice because the eagles could not get any push upfront. I mean he was hit HARD. They came back with a lame pass play where Mcnabb missed Celek badly. I'm sure Eagle fans were feeling the game slipping away...seven minutes to go...another damn field goal. Then the 3rd down play came. Running play, Weaver the lead blocker, Peters on the outside leading the way. Well guess what, Weaver WHIFFED on his block and buckley was at about the two yard line and he just charged ahead and smashed thru two redskins to get the score. I watched this in slo-mo a few times and this kid hit the whole fast and HARD. It was damn good to see. Without that play, theres a good chance we lose the game. Major props to Buckley. Mccoy probably gets stuffed, Weaver wouldnt have hit it fast enough, this kid just made the play and it was all the more impressive because the blocking ahead of him just fell apart and he already had his ass handed to him on two previous plays. (Eagles had 3 tries before the 3rd down due to a penalty--buckley run, buckley run and celek pass).

Buck Made ONE PLAY!
A very important play but he is hardly the reason we Won the Gm! Asante 2 crucial picks!! (to make up for the missed tackels………..kinda) Avant Made huge catches Dwn the Stretch, Shady Kept the clock moving and the playcalling Balanced and Akers Hit the GW fg…..and lets give the D there Due after playing horribly most of the game the came out and shut dwn that final opportunity the skins had.All told the credit goes to 5 those passes on the last drive were $$. Great Job by all Go Eagles!!
yeah, i’d have to agree… although that was a very determined run by buckley, he’s never gonna amount to anything. He’s just gonna float around the NFL for a bit.. that’s all
Representing CANADA eh?
buckley, he’s never gonna amount to anything.
now i dont know about all that, are you sure ?
you have not heard the last of buckley yet ….
WESTY..is the shit but ..i think its been awhile since we have had good backups ..like this
R.I.P Jim Johnson 1941-2009
we will miss you Jim Johnson, thank you for everything you done to the eagles defense making them the best of the best, RIP JJ...
Very true..
I think he will be our great #2 RB behind McCoy after Westy leaves. Im excited to see how we use these guys.
+1 GDog
I’ve been looking forward to seeing Eldra hit that line since the pre-season. I’ve said it a few times on this board and I’ll say it again. Westy and McCoy are great in the open, they are elusive and twisty, but Eldra LOVES busting through the line. Even when the OL doesn’t get the job done, he goes at it with a passion.
It’s looking more and more like we have two sets of running weapons. On the days when the OL isn’t making the holes that make the finesse of Westy and McCoy so devestating, the touches should go to Eldra and Weaver.
One way or another – the Eagles have a running game, and a consistent one, to boot.
Go Iggles!
I see Buckley...
…occupying a Duce Staley sort of role. He’s different from McCoy in terms of running style, and I’d like to see him get about 8-12 touches a game. I’d also like to see Weaver get roughly the same number with McCoy getting 15-20. The fatman will need to change his beliefs.
"Right now Winston Justice is the guy...until that person gets back out there"
If you think we’re gonna run the ball 35 times a game, you should start rooting for a different team. Buckley will get 2 touches in extremely short yardage situations. Weaver will get 6-8. It’s not like Reid is going to all of a sudden become Bill Cowher.

If we need a guy who can bang through the line
Why do we settle for a guy who’s barely 210 lbs.? I like Buckley, but would love a guy who can play STs and also weighs about 220.
Like Tony Hunt?
He was supposed to be that guy. It’s not the size so much these days as something else. Something undefineable. You know, “The size of the fight in dog” thing. All over the league little guys are running like fullbacks used to in the 70’s and 80’s. Sproles, etc. I don’t get it. Things aren’t what they used to be.
buckley
hits the hole, even if it isn’t there (as we saw on the first down play) harder than any Eagles runner i’ve ever seen. The only guy i’ve seen to hit the hole that hard is Justin Fargas of the Raiders, and they are very similar players. In fact, Fargas had 1100 yards rushing just 2 years ago by attacking the line of scrimmage, even though his o-line was pathetic. We may be seeing a lot more of the Buckley-Weaver goalline package over these next few years.

Big deal
Yeah he hit the hole hard this week on a key play but let’s not act like he is Jim Brown in short-yardage situations either. There have been a couple of times where Buckley didn’t get the same set including the SD game twice.
Frankly, it comes down to the offensive line getting the push/leverage which they have generally been miserable at the past 2+ years in similar situations.
haha, took the words outta my mouth, he failed big time in San Diego And he was only 1-3 in Sundays game.
I think were just way overreacting to when the retarted kid scores a touchdown just to make him feel good about himself.

I'm with you MG
Buckley has rarely done anything to catch my attention except on special teams, which is right now where I see his greatest impact coming. I like that they give him carries, and I’m hopeful he’ll be good … but I’m not crazy over his play so far.
Although I appreciate the TD vs. the Redskins
Still waiting for the Eagles to Bring It Home For Jerome

The "biggest" reason we won the game?
I’m not so sure about that. He made a good play, sure…but how about Avant’s catches? Maclin’s big grab? Desean’s TD? And I know it is hard to admit for some Eagles fans, but how about McNabb’s play??
All of that is more important than punching it in from the 1 yard line, no matter how much we have struggled from there in the past.
Listen...
If Buckley doesnt make that 3rd down play pretty much BY HIMSELF….we kick a field goal and lose the game because the team is demoralized by not being able to punch it in. How many times have we seen that happen in the last 2 years. The guy may be working at Mcdonalds next year but for this game he made the play f the game…not a play to get CLOSE to the goal line…but a play to SCORE. From the ONE ! Watch the San Diego game to appreciate just how important that is…
no one is saying that it wasn’t a huge play, but don’t you think that Avant did more to help the eagles win by making the tough catches when the rest of the team was running around like zombies? Buckley was great for scoring, but gaining 1 yard on 2 tries for the TD doesn’t mean he single handedly won us the game.
