Eagles reshuffle LB's again going into the Bears game

PHILADELPHIA (AP)—For the second consecutive week, the Eagles will go with a different look at linebacker because of a knee injury to weakside starter Akeem Jordan(notes).

Coach Andy Reid ruled out Jordan for Sunday night’s game at Chicago.

Will Witherspoon(notes) will again start at weakside LB, and second-year man Joe Mays(notes) will start in the middle. Chris Gocong(notes), who started in the middle in last week’s loss to San Diego, will move back to his customary spot on the strong side. Rookie Moise Fokou(notes), who started the past two games on the strong side, appears to be the odd man out.

It’s the sixth different set of linebackers the Eagles will start in their 10th game of the season.

So it looks like Joe Mays will get the nod, and Fokou will not be starting. I'm still scared about this unit because no matter which way you turn a shitty pie, its still a shitty pie. Be at that, an injured shitty pie.

Why don't they try Fokou in the middle

Wasn’t he taking snaps at middle in the pre-season? Why don’t they try him out now?

Who knows..

Perhaps its more of a mental thing than anything else. We’ve seen Fokou make some ill-advised penalties that costs us. I’m thinking he’s just still a rookie, and the coaching staff feel as though hes got a bit more to go.

Obviously

The coaching staff reviewed his tape and watches him in practice and they don’t like what they see… How many big penalties does the sly Somoan have in the past two weeks? Like 7?

hes a rookie, rookies make mistakes

but he is a solid tackler

Agreed

Fokou wouldn’t have made the roster (back when we looked deep at LB, lol) if it wasn’t for showing real promise. He just got thrust on the field much sooner than would have been ideal.

Ive been saying that since before last weeks game..

Fouku seems like a big guy, granted he’s not bradley’s size but I think he did pretty well in the preseason…

God dang we need to go after a big name LB both in FA and the draft, FA as a backup and draft as a potential starter… I think this year is the year of LB’s.

thats Cobb on Kolb crime if you ask me... as said by yophillybro

NOT POISED!

He’s been penalized way too much this season, keeping us on the feild on third dows…
He may mature by seasons end and play more sound football.

can you imagine what our linebackers would look like if we didn’t get witherspoon? we would almost have to move to a 5-2 defense.

Macho’s infection isnt completely gone yet. He might not be able to go.

About 10 minutes ago, I was pondering my own existence. Then I decided that it didn't matter.
