So who's your top rookie RB ?
I know everybody obsessed over the draft for months so I thought it would be fun to look back at who's great nd who's not SO FAR...
I am an NFL fan overall so I keep tabs on some of the guys that the Eagles could have drafted instead of Maclin/Mccoy.
Best RB:
I think everyone was right about Knowshown...hes a stud back and can do it all. He tends to fumble a bit but if he ever improves in that area hes going to be a Westbrrook type player.
I think the 2nd best could be shady. He blocks/he runs an he catches passes. What more could you ask for at this point ?
Incidentally how the hell did Mccoy score with 2 giants right in front of him ? They BOTH went for that fake to the inside ?
Donald Driver is pretty good as well but with that passing game its hard to know whether its him or not.
Beanie Wells is who we thouoght he was...bruising runner but injured a lot.
Overall Eagles did a great job selecting Mccoy...hes a keeper.
Not too bad...we got the 2nd best RB and maybe the third best WR with our first two picks.

brown doesn't get many touches
he was out last game…the game before that he had 2 carries for 58ish yards. He did a lot when he touched it, but addai is like westbrook over there….he gets way more carries.

mccoy barley touchesthe ball
lesean mccoy – 70 / 294 / 4.2 / 2
beanie wells – 57 / 238 / 4.2 / 1
we wont take the receiving game into consideration (15 catches vs 4) even though that heavily leans towards shady as well.
Wells has all the tools available but just cant get it together. He cant even beat Tim Hightower out of the starting job (63 carries)

well
if u watch football u would know wells didnt touch it early and has over taken hightower for the lead role the last 3 weeks .. and mccoy is inflated cuz he played two games by himself .. when westy plays he doesnt touch it enough to be a major factor .. learn something dude

McCoy is worse because he has an All Pro in front of him? Don’t you think the 3 carries we average as a team per game also play a factor?

2 of the past 3 weeks hightower has had the same or more carries than wells .. die

while wells has had 14 carries in a game ONCE he has never once went on the plus side.
last 3 weeks
wells – 12, 14, 8
hightower – 13, 4, 8

It’s a little tough to judge the rooks because some of these guys might be great but are playing behind good players and not getting a chance to show what they have.

heyward-bey has been absolutely ripping it to shreds down in oakland....
the guy is a monster. i mean how does any team deal with the russell-heyward-bey connection? it boggles the mind. they are both definitely going to the pro-bowl.

doh...
Yeah I did mean Donald Brown…sorry. As far as the two receivers better than Maclin…Percy Harvin is one, maybe crabtree. Although Crabtree is questionable but he looks pretty good for a guy who has sat most of the season.
by Gdog2009 on Nov 2, 2009 8:10 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
It Percy the Best WR on the Vikings...Probably.......sooo..
So that means that he’s getting more looks from Farve. We have DJAX and Maclin in icing on the cake. So naturally, Maclin won’t get as many looks right now becuz DJAX is flourishing right before our eyes. SO, it’s easy to say and think “Harvin is better than Maclin.” If we had Harvin and Djax, to u think it would be the same?! Less looks for Harvin cuz Djax is our go to guy!
My point is, FOR ME..its WAYYY to early to claim who is the best rookie WR right now. We have to wait til THIS season is over, AND wait til after their SOPHOMORE year. Remember, some players hit the Sophomore Slump!! Next year and the year after will TELL QUITE A BIT !

RB....U could say the same thing
…Some RB’s come out gun’n in their 1st year, but that 2nd year when teams actually account for you..do u still produce at a high level and/ or even HIGHER level.
Like I said, the second and third years are Key moments. In general though coming outta college, Moreno was a BEAST and the TOP RB. That’s why he was a FIRST ROUNDER. So naturally he “should”, “SHOULD” pan out to be really good. I like Shady though. He’s a heck of a player! He’s also NOT fumbling nearly as much as Moreno!!!!!!

by Realtalk32 on Nov 2, 2009 8:56 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
He's actually producing.
I still hate the guy.
Uhh, I think Shady’s at number three among rookie RB’s. You’ve got Knowshon, a stud, then you have Donald Brown. He’s been putting up consistent numbers, and has really worked in to Indy’s schemes. Great pickup for ’em.
And Shady..man. I LOVE this guy. Dunno if I was the only one who noticed this, but a lot of his runs had the potential to be HUGE gains. He was just a few missed tackles away from having one hell of a game. he just needs to get those feet down right- he tends to start ‘shaking and baking’ too early off the ball. But, man, I LOVE this guy.
And, how about those rookie WR’s? Has there been any other year with this many first round WR’s producing so well, so consistently (except for Darrius-Heyward. Fucking Oakland. This guy was amazing in college, and now he’s fucked over.)
Maclin, Hicks, Harvin (my vote for Rookie of the Year), Crabtree, Britt (he’s had his games), Collie (was he a first rounder? Someone refresh my memory). Pretty crazy.
by LegendKnight22 on Nov 2, 2009 8:43 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Nah
Collie was a 4th rounder. In my opinion Nicks is a little overrated. I’m not saying he is bad, but he tends to be a little more lucky than good like his touchdown against the Cardinals was a complete fluke, and his long TD against the Chiefs was because they took some of the worst tackling angles I’ve ever seen in a football game.
by macjack09 on Nov 2, 2009 8:58 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I agree about Nicks being a little overrated right now.
Nicks is a decent player though, and should get better! Right now, if I had to chose, Harvin would get my vote for WR. Becuz of RIGHT NOW Harvin is making a bigger impact for his team. Mainly due to him being the best WR on the Vikings. We have Djax, so Jmac doesn’t need to be Mr. Do-it-all.!! We as, if the Vikings didnt have Harvin, it would be the same offense as last year but with a different QB in Farve. Maclin is in a totally different situation here with tha Birdz. We dont need to rely on him make a Huge Play. That’s were Westbrook/Shady and Djax come into play.

Nicks will be good
Don’t kid yourself the guy could be the next Anquan Boldin.
That said, I like Maclin’s potential better. Maclin has good size, great speed, and great athleticism. He is a great complement to Desean Jackson.
Nicks has produced well, but he has also had more opportunities. The Giants have given him a lot of opportunities to step up because they don’t have a Desean Jackson. In addition, Maclin has played with two qb’s, and I don’t think he developed great chemistry with Kolb (though I anticipate this will change in the future). Kolb preferred going to Brent Celek. Again, we see that the abundance of weapons for the Eagles deflated Maclin’s production but he has still played at a very high level.
Somebody should mention Louis Murphy. If Oakland had a qb who could throw he would be in the conversation for sure.

yea, I didnt say that "Nicks is a Horrible player and will Never be good!"
I most def DID NOT say that. I said he’s a little overrated RIGHT NOW. And that he SHOULD get better!

Ur right..I also like Maclin’s potential better. U can’t teach a lot of things, but SPEED and ATHLETICISM are all Natural gift.

As of right now
I completely agree with you that Hicks is indeed overrated this year. With that said, with a year under his belt, this guy can become the most dangerous player in the entire NFC. It’s a scary thought.

That's what Im saying man
Wayyyyyyy to early to even THINK about it! Its about the Sophomore Slump and there after.
Even before all this stuff..The “Experts” (but I usually ignore them cuz they are wrong on more than one occasion) had rated Crabtree #1, Maclin #2, Harvin #3, then Bey……..!
On another quick note…this shows that coming from a Spread offense does not effect u as much as they say. Texas Tech, Mizzou, Florida all Spread offense teams! Kills that myth

What? Guess u misundstood me.!!
I said….it shows that COMING FROM A SPREAD OFFENSE doesn’t effect u as much as they say. Maclin, Crabtree and Harvin ALL came FROM a Spread offense and are doing just fine in the NFL SO FAR!

True!
but dont put Crabtree in there just yet of doing fine, he is a cry baby. He still needs to do something where he stands out like have 2 TD or few big play. I do think he will be a good WR.

wide receivers take a lot longer to measure than running backs
after 3 seasons maybe we will be able to tell the difference
by Manoovi on Nov 3, 2009 12:11 AM EST reply actions 0 recs
crabtree may be a little cry baby when he isnt paid for what he was not drafted as but none the less for coming in the past 2 games out of no where and starting right away he has definitely produced beyond my expectations. he hasnt missed many balls thrown his way and its just a matter of time until he is a redzone threat.
dont get me wrong im not saying he is better then maclin, i feel like the two are apples and oranges. its hard to compare em.
Crabtree is the tall guy with great hands, maclin is speed. crabtree wont get many YAC but maclin will rack em up
by worldphuckinchamps on Nov 3, 2009 1:48 AM EST reply actions 0 recs
Ya, that makes sense
because Jerry Rice never got any YAC and he was way too slow
by sduncan24 on Nov 3, 2009 11:03 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
So far most of Maclin’s big plays haven’t even come from YAC the majority of his deep touchdown passes have involved him just beating double coverage and coming down with the ball.
by fhqwagads on Nov 3, 2009 11:06 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Agreed.
Maclin so far has just ran good routes, made great adjustments to the ball in the air, and has made SEVERAL GREAT catches for TDs. SO FAR, Maclin has either made the catch or Scored while making the catch.!!!!!
I believe has he grows and as the speed slows down for him, he will start to get more and more YAC. Soon he should be rackin up YAC! He’s most def still adjusting to the NFL speed. Look at Djax, he was fast last year, now after being in the league just one year..he KNOW where and when to turn on his Jets. Now he’s just torchin’ the field!!

Man Moreno is so overrated
I don’t think he’s that great it’s not like he’s having a rookie year like Chris Johnson, or Steve Slaton. The worst part is he’s fumbled the ball at least once in every game I watch him start and get significant play time. I don’t think he’s even had a 100 yards rushing yet, not saying Shady has either, but Moreno hasn’t exactly been a regular on the highlight reels.
