McCoy ready for the starting job
Lesean McCoy has so far started 3 games in place of Brian Westbrook, who has been injured for the past couple of weeks as the guys already know. Westbrook has had 2 concussions the past 2-3 weeks.
In Lesean's starts for Westbrook, he has had 44 carries for 220 yards and 2 touchdowns. That is about 5 yards per carry, which is pretty good for a rookie. Mccoy has been pretty good, but he will have to do a lot, such as block very well, hit the holes better, and try to do those famous Westbrook screens. Lesean will definitley be able to fill Westbrook's shoes. He will improve over the next games we have, and will show us why the Eagles drafted him in the second round.
Comparison to other rookie running backs drafted this year:
Knowshon Moreno #27 RB(Broncos)-
(The guy we were supposed to draft if the Broncos didn't snag him so high.)

Thought this could cheer you guys up
P.S: I found it funny that when i searched Chris Wells the football player didn't come up. Then I thought of his nickname Beanie, and that's what ESPN catoragized his name as. I guess his nickname stuck with him.

the guy just needs more confidence and coaching.
we just need to see more north/south out of him. but as far as rookie running backs go….he’s good. he’ll be able to do a lot of the same stuff westbrook can do.

I agree
I think he will be great for us. Just hope its sooner rather than later.
Let's get it Birds.

he needs the hit the hole
get to the second level then put the moves on people… Look at AP, he throws down till he gets past the LB’s then he chooses how he’s going to put the DB’s down.
thats Cobb on Kolb crime if you ask me... as said by yophillybro
when
when have u seen mccoy do this? cuz he doesnt .. he looks like reggie bush to me .. yuck .. 4 yard gain if he hit the hole but trying to make it into a td and actually making it a 2 yard loss ..

he's a good fit for our offense
he reminds me a lot of westbrook (style-wise, i’m not comparing them talent wise). there’s definately some flaws in shady’s game but i wasn’t expecting him to be a perfect half back as a rookie. he’ll be a good back eventually.
I wish he’d stop carrying the ball away from his body. it puts my insides in a knot everytime i see it.
Shady..
is a great back. the only knock i have against him is that he dances in the holes WAY to much instead of bursting forward when finds a hole

he will learn tho
cant wait to see his speed hit the hole with an offensive line actually blocking
but maybe thats a pipe dream this season…

This is an ass-awful O-line.
If LeSean were behind a good O-line I could see him being a Marshall Faulk type player. But with this o-line, he’s lucky that the Rothman institute is close by.

Beanie's stats...
Are not much better than MCcoy’s stats, but i know you are a MCcoy hater, so no changing that I am sure.

what
how about beanies 4.6 ypc … he is better .. mccoy has good numbers cuz he had 2 games as a feature back when westbrook was hurt .. and 2 more where he got majority of carries cuz westy got hurt .. beanie has been in a time share all year

o bs
how about 5.6 ypc over his last 4 games. . beanie is clearly a better rb rite now .. mccoy sucks ,. he cant hit a hole .. and drops a lot of passes .. he has been less than impressive .. wells is getting better every week .. and just had a big game last week with 2 tds

Westbrook has had 3 concussions the past 2-3 weeks
Did Westy have another concussion I don’t know about?
I see a little Westy in Shady. Maybe he hasn’t been producing as much because of our Line but I really am expecting more from him. I want to see more before I judge him but then again, I want to see more running in our system to begin with. Right now, I like him but I’m not overly impressed.
In life, as in a football game, the principle to follow is: Hit the line hard.

Shady is so young...
He will get better and when he does he will be the Westbrook 2.0. I have faith in the kid. Only thing i would change is all the dancing he does…just make a cut then go with it. its not college anymore.
Hes a Rookie Relax
Lets @ the very least allow him to complete this season prior to writing him off. He just needs experience he will learn and then we can judge him fairly but until then hes nothin more then your typical rookie inconsistent
Just got word Saying
DOCS expect Westy to make a full recovery……….Thank God…..for his health and as an eagles fan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
nah
mccoy has reggie bush syndrome .. its hard to cure .. dancing in holes and running for sidelines to try n break every play .. no thanks

i’m gonna have to semi-agree with you there. except shady’s not as fast as bush or westy.
he needs to learn to block better and yea, less dancing around while the holes collapse.

I also have to agree with Jack. McCoy is way too indecisive when picking a hole. As he stated, this is a trait that quick RB’s have a hard time shaking.
Someone like Beanie Wells is a much more natural pro-style runner. He makes a very quick decision as to which hole to hit and just goes. He is not the fastest guy, but neither was Emmit. (no, I am not comparing Wells to Smith, just merely pointing out the importance of attacking and running “downhill in the NFL”)
McCoy will be great with the screens, no doubt about that. But for him to even come close to being the feature back that Westy was, he needs to be a lot more decisive and not get caught dancing behind the line.
It is not out of the question that he can fix the problems though. His skillset and size is very similar to a former Eagle, Charlie Garner. Garner was very fast coming out of college and had a hard time his rookie season understanding that he can’t just pause at the line and outrun everyone to the sidelines. He finished his rookie campaign 109 carries for 399 yards and 3 TD’s, with an average of 3.7 ypc. Then, in his 2nd year, he was much improved, and was attacking the holes almost before they were actually open. He finished that year a much improved 108 carries for 588 yards and 6 TD’s, for an excellent 5.4 ypc. Hopefully, Shady can adapt in a similar manner.

sounds like a personal problem to me

ahhh sorry, had to do it

but in all seriousness
i think he will be fine once this offensive line gets straightened out. if the line makes decent holes, mccoy will find them

My biggest worry about McCoy and one of Brian Westbrooks greatest strengths … picking up the blitz. Westbrook would cut block sometimes but more often than not he would pop a linebacker I’ve watched him on more than one occasion put a defensive player on there back.
This doesn’t show up in most peoples stat columns but it’s one of my favorite parts of Westbrook game and a big reason I believe him to be one of the best all around backs of all time.
