Trending up/Trending down after Week 10
.
Which Eagles are trending up or trending down after last Sunday? I offer my thoughts:
Trending Up
Jason Avant- Bye, Dawk was talking about how this kid has been 'invisible' for most of the season. I'd say he came into view Sunday. 8 catches for 156 yards. And seriously, how awesome was that one-handed catch in the second half?
Donovan McNabb- I never like it when McNabb has to throw the ball for more than 40 times a game, but you can't argue with his performance. 35 completions for 450 yards and 2 TDs, with one INT on a desperation throw. And me being the genius that I am, I benched him in my fantasy league in favor of Ben Roethlisberger.
Jeremy Maclin- Mac outperformed DeSean Jackson with 4 catches, 72 yards and one TD Sunday. If DeSean wasn't doing so well, I think Maclin would be getting some serious attention.
David Akers- I hate having to list this guy as 'trending up', but he was 3 for 3 on his attempts, and nailed a 52-yarder.
Trending Down
Sav Rocca- The Chargers' first TD was because Rocca's punt sailed out of bounds at the Eagles' 40, giving San Diego good field position to start with. One thing about Rocca: he's either really good, or really bad. He's very inconsistent.
Trent Cole- One tackle. Nothing else.
Brian Westbrook- I really like Westbrook, but it's never a good sign if you have two concussions in the same month. As much as I hate to say it, it might be in the best interest for Westy if he retired after this year so he won't have to pay for it later on in his life.
Asante Samuel- He looked lost on Naanee's TD late in the fourth quarter. Still no word on the seriousness of Sheldon Brown's injury. You can say what you want about Jay Cutler being an interception machine, but I'm not comfortable with Asante being the only true corner on the field next week. (waiting for JIBTA to start typing away below)
Other than the Vikings and Saints (and maybe the Cardinals), there's really nobody else in the NFC that's stellar. The Falcons aren't as good as advertised, neither are the Packers. We've got to be thankful that Dallas lost to Green Bay, or else we'd be toast. Now the NFC East is up in the air again. This loss stings, but we're still in the thick of the playoff hunt.

Bunkley and Patterson: Trending Down... at least for one week
Seriously, when you have the talent we have in the middle, how can you not stop LT (who ran 12 times for 22 yards the week before) when he’s running behind a broken offensive line (injured starting center and guard)?
GRRRR. Frustrating.
About 10 minutes ago, I was pondering my own existence. Then I decided that it didn't matter.
It’s not their fault. We had two linebackers playing out of position, not to mention a 7th round pick rookie who is a penalty machine. Oddly, Fukou is the only one that played well with 12 tackles. Gocong(who I think is garbage) had just 4 when he is supposed to have the most tackles on the team as the MLB. Witherspoon had just 3 as well.

Superbowl- In progress...
Linebackers.....
The middle linebacking position is still a problem for the run. LT ran for 96 yards…had 2 TDs….one for 20 yards and one for 3 yards. Gotta be able to stop a back like that.
Well
They put in Gocong as MLB. Putting in a guy who never played that position really doesn’t help at all.

Once again
It was the linebackers that killed us. People can say what they want about the secondary and Asante, but the fact is the secondary held Vincent Jackson (at the time one of the top 3 leading receivers in the league) to 1 rec/10 yards and Malcolm Floyd to 3 rec/45 yards. They only allow 1 TD over the top. The touch down over the middle to Colbert was something that should have been picked up by the LBs, LT which should have been picked up by the DTs and LBs and Antonio Gates who worked our LBs all day. I’m still keeping eyes on Kirk because apparently he wants out of Oakland (who doesn’t) and I’m still watching LBs in college such as Micah Johnson, Daryl Washington, Eric Norwood, Navorro Bowman, Sean Weatherspoon, etc.
With the exception of Witherspoon our LBs are still trash.
Evil incarnate!
heading me off like that with the 5th poll question :-)

Playoffs? are you kidding? Don’t talk about playoffs! Playoffs? Playoffs? …Sorry had to be said.

of course we'll talk about it
we’ve had a decade of success, and have come to expect playoffs as a right.
ironically enough, we didn’t lose any ground in the division with the Cowboy’s loss. I agree that we have to figure some things out to become more consistent and to prove that we can run with big dogs…but sure we’ll talk about playoffs.

Really?
That’s a classic tirade. YouTube it.
It doesn’t read the same unless you can hear Mora’s voice saying it while you read it.
Still waiting for the Eagles to Bring It Home For Jerome
LOL, thanks
perspective makes everything make more sense:)
