Charities: Poll

OK, so everyone who donated money for Justin, I just wanted to see what you guys wanted to do with it now.

We raised over $250 dollars with me, J800, BrianS, Bye Dawk, isi_eagle,and RCeagle

All these guys are selfless people and all came together for a good cause. In fact, when I noted Justin getting a pair of tickets everyone agreed to not take the money back and just donate it to charity!!! FYI J800 donated the most money and wins the date with eagles girl5!(100 dollars).

Today when I had some time I got a list of charities that we could donate to.

Since Justin has cerebral palsy, the first charity is the UCP (united cerebral palsy ). It advocates rights for peopleof disabilities.

The second one is http://www.childfindofamerica.org/ . Child Find of America, Inc. is a national not-for-profit organization dedicated to  the prevention and resolution of child abduction. It helps families afford resolutions for the missing children. (its up there as missing children of america).

The third is the http://www.sunshinefoundation.org/... This is like a make-a-wish where terminally ill, physically challenged or abused children get funding for one of their dreams.

the last is http://www.bbbs.org/site/c.diJKKYPLJvH/b.1539751/k.BDB6/Home.htm (big brothers/big sisters). This one is huge for me because I think a lot of us who live around Philly knows the importance of having a positive influence in your life.. And the fact is, theres so many kids who don't.

All of these have been checked out as top-rated charities according to the AIP

"Groups included on the Top-Rated list generally spend 75% or more of their budgets on programs, spend $25 or less to raise $100 in public support, do not hold excessive assets in reserve, and receive "open-book" status for disclosure of basic financial information and documents to AIP."

and once again, thanks to the guys who contributed--especially in this down economy and more importantly right around the holidays.

I voted for big brothers/big sisters out of these.

But I think it would be cool to donate to something connected with the Eagles or one of the players.

Or, especially in light that one of our favorite players just had what is probably a season-ending and possibly a career-ending concussion, maybe a brain injury research charity.

Alternatively, we could use that money to buy cheesteaks for Coach Reid every time he saves all his 2nd half timeouts till the 4th quarter.

haha thats an absolutely horrible idea, andy has enough to think about during a game, let alone adding free cheese steaks if he keeps his TOs

So is Philabundance out of the question because he’s a Giants fan?

Obviously UCP considering this is to be in relation with the person and issue involved … right? are there really any other choices?

I’m a sucker for food-bank type charities this time of year, too. And it’s a good organization.

So what’s up? Did the guy refuse the tickets? I’m assuming it wasn’t a scam since now UCP is up as one of the possible donation sights. But I can’t fathom why he would take the tickets or the money that you guys worked so hard to put together. Just curious.

Loooooook here brotha'.....who you jivein' with that Cosmic Debris!!!???

I’d missed this too. He called up the Giants’ ADA representative, and they offered him complimentary accessible seats, so he turned down Joe’s offer.

Wild! Really nice move by the Giants by Joe and by Justin as well! I’d have to say that even though Justin may have had a bad experience, a lot of good has come of it. Simply great stuff right here. I voted for the cerebral palsy charity, but the food bank is a great idea.
