Desean Jackson Fires his Agent

What's up people!  This is my first post of course, so bare with me.  It ain't nothing serious but it could be big.  Basically Desean Jackon fired DeBartolo Sports (Agent).  He reportedly intends to sign with Drew Rosenhaus!  Here's a link to a report.  http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/11/11/desean-jackson-changes-agents/.  Now I know PFT is not the most reliable source, but they tend to be on the mark more times than not!  This means one thing..$$$$.  The boy wants more chedda'.  And rightfully so!  I don't have his numbers and stats in front of me, but we know what he has done and is capable of doing on the field.  Electric, explosive and elastic (how bout the flip to baseball slide TD celebration)!  He deserves more cash and has earned it ranking #1 in big plays!  This could get VERY interesting as Drew Rosenhaus is well...Drew Rosenhaus.  And mix that with Deseans confidence and swagger...it's gonna be interesting to see how this pans out!  My guess,  Djax has the upper hand..nuff said!

pay him what he wants when his contract is up

its only his 2nd year. even if his performance warrants it, why give him a raise?

I remember 5 years ago...

I read “Terrell Owens fires agent, hires Drew Rosenhaus,” and my first thought was “Oh shit.”

Rosenhaus might be a major douchebag, but he is a damn good agent. I wouldn’t hesitate to hire him if I were an NFL player.

The fact that people hate him is a testament to not only his “douchiness”, but also to the fact that he is doing his job. People SHOULD hate him because it’s his job to screw our beloved NFL franchises for money and use legal tactics to get what his clients want.

He's certainly very visible... Very much a PR machine.

But the thinking that he’s a great agent is a bit of a misconception. He certainly has an enormous number of clients, so that makes him a very successful agent, but his high-profile holdouts rarely benefit from his aggressive tactics. There have been numerous cases (Terrell Owens, Lance Briggs, Anquan Boldin, Jeremy Shockey, and others) that have had not just their reputations solied, but also their wallets affected in a negative way by Rosenhaus.

There’s also a theory out there that teams will shy away from drafting Rosenhaus clients or signing them via free agency because the risk of a future headache is too big. For an example of that, look no further than LeSean McCoy and Cornelius Ingram, both Rosenhaus clients, both guys that slid WAAAAY to far in the draft.

4yrs, 3mil, including a $1.3mil signing bonus

we’re hardly paying this guy anything.

With 2 years left on his contract after this current year, I can easily see us extending him in the offseason.

I hate Drew too, but his success rate is pretty good. If I’m a player, of course I’m thinking $.

I see us giving him a new contract a few games into next years season he deserves it…most explosive player in the league.

DeSEAN JACKSON THE 10NE

by TheILLadeph on Nov 11, 2009 1:40 PM EST reply actions

meh he is Ingram, McCoy, Jean-Gilles, and Ikegwuono’s agent also so it’s not like we don’t have to deal with him anyway.

He’s a huge prick but he gets paid so he knows something. I wish the league would black ball him and refuse to work with his clients but that is a pipe dream.

Yeah, I think we hate him, but teams know ...

… they have to deal with him. I know the Birds like to play hardball and so does Drew, but in this case, there doesn’t seem like there’s that much to argue about.

Each week I’ve been thinking “they need to extend Jackson ASAP” and so has he apparently, so I don’t see the Eagles putting up too much of a fight on this one. It’s not if DeSean will get extended, but how much, for how long, and when it happens.

The Birds have to want to extend him, and while they might cringe at the thought of working with Rosenhaus, the team is still in good shape to guard against a holdout because of Maclin and the depth in the receiving corps, and the fact that they’re not in imminent danger of losing DJax.

If this isn’t dealt with before training camp next year, that’s when it likely becomes a problem.

yeah

I don’t see anything happening before the offseason, but I would even want the Eagles to reach out to him first ASAP! We need this kid!

ohhh BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hate 2 see where the fuk this is goin but i have a very very very very very bad feelin about this. Drew Rosen. wins the award 4 biggest scumbag of the century but i dont know who i hate more him or the eagles FO. You know Jackson is gonna command huge money and he could get it without signing this asshole, ALLS I GOT 2 SAY IS WE BETTER NOT FUCK AROUND HERE, WE CANNOT AFFORD 2 LOSE DESEAN…..PAY THE MAN, and put aside the differences in the past with ROSENSCUM.

by goldenbird09 on Nov 11, 2009 2:12 PM EST reply actions

By the way...

This move severely lowers the chances of the Eagles paying him sooner than later.

I see a holdout in 2010 in our future.

by JimmyK on Nov 11, 2009 2:22 PM EST reply actions

Well we usually wait until the year before the contracts up and we will resign him or sign an extension right? So if he is wanting money, and wanting it now… then i agree with Bye Dawk, this could possibly get ugly.

Thank Goodness,

You think if he blows his knee out and loses his magic they wouldnt hesitate to cut him ? NFL is not gaurunteed like the NBA (ask Grant hill 7yr/99 mil played like 15 games in 3 years) NFL you have to get your money today. I see him getting something crazy numbers wise….like 5/45 million and a 12 mill sign bonus. I was thinking who in recent history does jackson remind you of ? and really cant think of anyone bcuz your quick to think of someone small and speedy. but if you think of production and freakishness it would be randy moss’s first few years eventhough he is 6’4". its just that feeling you get when the first tackle misses you know its going to the house and no one can catch him….so being that DJax could be the wide receiver steal of the past 10 years give him his money ASAP ! He can be a philly drafted star that spent his whole career with the Eagles (well until his last 2 or 3 years were he’s cut and signs with the broncos.lol) PAY HIM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Agreed, as for Grant Hill.. that guy was supposed to be the next mini-Jordan but all those injuries really screwed him.

As a fan of the team and a fan of Djack, i think he deserves his money and like others said, we have several players already under Rosenhaus. I’m just hoping for the best..

i say

we put a clause in his contract that lets us fine him 100,000 $ everytime he celebrates before hes in the end zone lol

oh boy...

Holdout time…
I think Deseans great but lets not get TOO crazy. Hes not the best wideout in the league and hes not a workhorse wideout like a brandon marshall or Larry Fitzgerald. Is he top 10…yes…of course douchebag “next question” rosenhaus will want him to be paid like he is top 3 wideout….which he isnt.
