QUESTION YOURSELVES...

Everyone is so quick to judge QB Donovan McNabb and blame him for our losses.  There is a 53 man roster, not 1!  If I can recall, it was Sheldon Brown that bit on Tony Romo's pumpfake that enabled Miles Austin to score the game winning touchdown for Dallas!  Not once was Sheldon's name mentioned.  Donovan did his job by getting us on top, it was up to our defense to hold them!  Just like the Arizona game last year!  Just like the Super Bowl against the Patriots 5 years ago!  Donovan does what he has to to win by putting us in the lead.  BUT THE LAST I CHECKED, OUR DEFENSE NEVER STOP THE OTHER TEAM.  STOP BLAMING MCNABB TO MAKE EXCUSES FOR US LOSING!  Thats REAL TALK

any McNabb critics here are not critical of this one performance…it’s 10 years of games

That’s a fair sample size to make an assessment.

So, thanks for signing up real quick and giving us your pointless thoughts without understanding the debate already ongoing.

Thats all im sayin to jalaren

After 10 yrs of the SAME type of play both positive and negative, u have to see that its not “just a bad game” or just an "off night. U can’t say our defense the reason why our team can’t come from behind nor execute a 2min offense! I think many can agree that our DEFENSE is way most consistent then our OFFENSE. Even more so, our DEFENSE plays more consistent than McNabb alone! Just becuz Sheldon messed up on this ONE TIME play (how often does Sheldon mess up?!) and last season in the NCFCG our defense couldn’t get off the field in time…u can’t say our defense is a flaw of ours.

Though u might not be able to compare the two straight up (Dmac and the defense), I hope u guys understand where im coming from! How often does our Defense give away a game compared to Dmac (and offense)???! In not bashin Dmac, I just want him to improve and move forward so he can earn his SB RING!!

The DEFENSE HAS GAVE AWAY MANY GAMES IF I CAN RECALL REALTALK32. LIKE I SAID, THINK BACK TO ARIZONA. FITZGERALD WENT CRAZY ON US! WHICH I CAN BLAME COACHING ON THAT GAME TO BECAUSE QUINTEN DEMPS SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN LEFT ALONE TO COVER FITZ, AND SHELDON WAS WAY TOO SLOW. ASANTE SHOULD HAVE COVERED FITZGERALD WITH HELP FROM THE SAFETIES.

THINK BACK TO THE SUPERBOWL AGAINST THE PATRIOTS. COREY DILLON RAN CRAZY AGAINST OUR DEFENSE AND GOT THEM DOWN THE FIELD, MAKING TOM BRADYS JOB EASIER. IF I CAN RECALL, OUR COACHES HAD SIMONEAU COVERING DILLON RATHER THAN A MUCH BETTER TROTTER A MAJORITY OF THE GAME.

THE LIST GOES ON. IT ALWAYS COMES DOWN TO US HAVING TO STOP THE OPPOSING TEAMS OFFENSE FROM SCORING AND WE NEVER EVER SUCCEED!

Mr. Sensitive (YOU)

You pussy! You sensitive litte pussy you! LOL Be greatful that we did get to a superbowl and all these championships. True, we did not win a superbowl YET with Donovan, but be greatful you stupid fuck! Some QBs dont even get to ever see a conference championship. Its not just Donovan is all I’m saying. Its the OLINE, a QB cannot possibly feel comfortable if he is sacked too much. Its also our defense at times! All we had to do was stop Dallas from Scoring! So yes, its seems that you do not know your football. Have a great day you fake ass Eagles Fan. :o)

http://footballoutsiders.com/stats/qb

find mcnabb’s name on that list.

http://footballoutsiders.com/stats/teamdef

now find the eagles name on that list

Who is ranked higher? I know football isn’t all about stats, or all about DVOA, but when you’re trying to place the blame for this loss on the defense (ranked number one via DVOA) and saying the QB is doing his job (ranked #23 DVOA) you’re clearly biased.

http://footballoutsiders.com/stats/drivestats

We are ranked #22 in Drive success rate…(% of series that result in TD or First Down). That sucks. Quit blaming the defense. sure Sheldon bit on the fake, and he gets his blame for that, but mcnabb has played streaky for the past two years. that’s why he gets so much blame.

Defense as a whole has be great.

We send a lot of heat at the QB and our corners gamble. Typically, offenses don’t have time to run double moves, but if the offense picks up a blitz and has enough time to throw, it’s an area where we’re sometimes vulnerable. That’s our defense, for better or worse. We know our football just fine, brother.

Brown has had a great season so far, and I’m not sure if you’re forgetting or not, but he also had a pick and a long return (the return was negated by a penalty), so chill out.

McNabb had bad game. He had a horrible game against Oakland, too. Should we be running him out of town? No. But should he be immune to criticism? Hell no.

Are you 12?

you come on here lecturing us about about “team sport” and claiming if we don’t agree with you, then we don’t understand the game?

Do you know us? Have you interacted with us? A lot of people here are very knowledgeable about both football and the Eagles. In fact, this is the best site I’ve found for Eagles analysis and rational thought.

Occasionally we get guys like you that spout off emotional nonsense disguised as logic, write in caps to let us know you mean business, and then protect yourself from dissent by claiming upfront that people who disagree are morons. Don’t worry, you’ll get bored of this site soon and leave when you realize it’s actually intellectual most of the time, and you need to have logic to defend your position.

by jalarsen1 on Nov 11, 2009 12:31 PM EST up reply actions

by your logic

If we score 3 points then we should win because the defense is supposed to stop the other team.

News flash, other football teams have offenses too, keeping a team to 20 points isnt too bad, especially when our offense hands them a TD off the pick.

The sheldon play sucked, I agree, but it was a good double move and he bit, we have seen desean do that about 5 times this year, it happens.

I am not blaming this game entirely on mcnabb, but I think a good portion of blame rests on his shoulders.

I just dont understand why it seems like people have to either completely blame donavan or completely blame the defense.

And if you place this loss squarely on the dense, then YOU REALLY DO NOT KNOW FOOTBALL.

hahha +1

It’s not just Dmacs fault. It’s a combo of things from QB, to the O-LINE, to the Coach. Our Defense has been pretty consistent this year holding MOST of our opposition to 17 pts. That’s a GOOD job by the Defense. Dallas came into our game as one of the best offenses. We held them to 20 pts! Can’t be mad at that. The only real bad game we had was against the Saints. In all right, our defense and special teams really hurt us that game with crazy penalties and miscues! Most of the time, our upside is our defense becuz it stays pretty consistent. Some lows here and there, but not NEARLY as bad as our offense can get.!

because of the Maclin INT where they got field position at our 35ish yd. line.

I DONT PLACE THIS LOSS SOLEY ON MCNABB, BUT IT WAS A COMBINATION OF THE O-LINE, PENALTIES, DEFENSE, AND DONOVAN. AND FOR THE MOST PART, IF THE O-LINE ISN’T BLOCKING WELL AND MCNABB IS CONSISTENLY GETTING SACKED, HOW CAN YOU EXPECT THE MAN TO GET IN A ZONE AND FEEL COMFORTABLE? I KNOW THAT WHEN MANNING AND BRADY GET SACKED TO THAT DEGREE, THEY DONT HAVE GOOD GAMES EITHER. FOOD FOR THOUGHT MY MAN.

DMAC does not deserve all the blame of course!

There are many factors. But when it comes down to execution when the ball is in ur hands more times than not, ur gonna get most of the blame. Getting the ball to wide open receivers, 2min drills, coming back from behind, callin an audible when u know or don’t think the called play will work is part of executing the job of a QB! There’s no excuses. Know ones perfect. After 10yrs it is what is.! I for one dont straight up bash Dmac becuz I know what Dmac brings. Inconsistency but he gives us the best chance to win THIS year! I can not complain cuz at least we have a winning record right now and the chances that Dmac adjusts his technique a lil are…………well u already know!

by JimmyK on Nov 11, 2009 2:28 PM EST up reply actions

Because it was real talk faggot! You cant blame McNabb for that game solely because the o-line did not allow the man to get comfortable. They did not block like they did against NY and that explains the inconsistency. As I said above, when Manning, Brady, and Brees are sacked to the degree that Donovan is (WHICH THEY RARELY ARE) they have bad games as well. Yes, Blame Donovan for some but not ALL. Again, all we had to do to win against Dallas was STOP THEM with 5 minutes left. Donovan had put us in the lead if I can recall.

by PhillyEagle4Life on Nov 11, 2009 6:07 PM EST up reply actions

But the point is McNabb should be able to make a run down field and score when its necessary. Continuing the argument that he is not a clutch QB. I am not a McNabb basher and I don’t wish him to be replaced but if he continues to play like this then there does need to be a change. He has all of these offensive weapons and for some reason he can’t use them when it counts. We understand that its a team sport and all the blame can be put on his shoulders but he is inconsistent and thats a fact.

Pit had the best D in the league last year and Ben had to run the 2 minute. Defenses are going to give up points sometimes it would be nice if the Offense carried there weight once in a while.

Thing I just don't get...

Is we blame players, criticize what have you about the inconsistencies of the team and more specifically the offense.

However, JoeD, jalarsen, etc….just please please PLEASE ACKNOWLEDGE that the coaching staff could at the very least be a part of the problem, even if that part is a smaller % than what I’m saying.

I have admitted numerous times to the fact I get the reasons why you all want a different QB, but how do you just ignore the poor Coaching is beyond me. Donovan doesn’t run a no huddle, with him calling all the plays at the line very often so stop acting like gameplanning, in game adjustments, and playcalling have nothing to do with the success rate of a drive and a play.

Everytime I mention this, JoeD can’t give me a logical explanation for why he doesn’t feel the coaching staff is to blame…just continues to say McNabb can’t execute. I get that and will have alot more respect for your opinion if you could just admit that Coaching plays at the very least half of the blame here.

by 5 plus 10 equals 6 on Nov 12, 2009 12:21 PM EST reply actions

I have stated in numourous previous posts

IMO, That coaching IS in fact a problem. Making a QB with a track record of inconsistency to throw 40 and sometimes 50 times a game is crazy! Failing to utilize the run to help ur QB and open up the deep routes is ludicrous. I believe that coaching is playing an equal part in this. The players are a reflection of their coach. That’s why I said if we don’t do finish well this season, and if they decide to trade DMAC, DO NOT extend Reids contract. Becuz I don’t wanna see the same coaching affect a young QB in Kolb! I don’t want the same playcalling and same game time coaching/managing (clock ect…). If they get rid of Dmac, then Reid must go to! IMO. Why? Becuz,

"doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results."
is a definition of insanity.! Right Mr. Banner.

dude, did you really just accuse us all of not knowing

our football and then come to the conclusion that McNabb did enough for the win by scoring a whopping 16 points?

You know what? You’re right, maybe he is in fact one of the best QBs in the league and we are all just too blind to see it. After all, most defenses in the league hold their opponents to under 16 points right? So really its all the fault of the defense that we lost right? WRONG!

McNabb stinks. Has always had an inconsistent arm. It was no big deal when he could make big plays with his legs. Now the legs are all but gone…so he’s just an inconsistent QB with a big arm and shoddy accuracy who sometimes has really good games. Hitch your superbowl wagon to a guy like that and watch him have one of his bad games in the superbowl or NFC championship game…oh wait….that happened 5 times already!

If you have a problem with urban and gritty, go find another league to watch because a majority of the players are urban and gritty. I had to keep it real. Desean Jackson, Brian Westbrook, I’ve met a lot of them and they are all that way like myself. Not everyone is suburban and proper you racist motherfuckers. Route for other players such as Brady, Manning, Brees, Welker, etc. if you have a problem with urban and gritty. I hate racist people that always talk about black people and try to put down the way we talk or our grammar. I can talk proper if I want, but at times its not always necessary. If everyone was the same, this earth would be a boring ass place!
