My official apology
Just kidding....
McNabb and co. played very well today. The run blocking was much improved, the Giants got after the QB here and there, but the biggest difference was McNabb made some decent throws when he had to. He even lead some revievers on a couple of throws. Hopefully, we can keep that consistency against other teams... Especially teams with better defenses.
As much as I loved this win, I can't help but think the Giants played some really bad football. Diguisting tackling, blown coverages, and horrible throws by Eli. Point is, I don't think the elite teams like New Orleans are going to afford us so many gifts and opportunities.
Eiter way, this was a MUST win and I'm freaking glad we pulled through. I hate the Giants more than any other team and I was really excited pre-game. Great to see a win. Now excuse me while I wait for kingmcnabb5's much anticipated post game write-up.

Where did you get that?
I’m stoked, I hate the Giants more than any other team.
E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!!
Yah...
but you’re still bitching. Is it possible that Eli was making bad throws because our D was all over him? Is is possible that the bad tackling was because we have some GREAT receivers and some GREAT backs on our team? And is it possible that maybe Coughlin just got out-coached and the blown coverages came from GREAT play calling? Just give it up to us..we played great and made them look bad. Not them playing bad and them handing us the game.

umm...
I had 1 problem with McNabb… on the TD pass to Djax, Jackson had to stop, catch the ball then run to the endzone…
this has happened these past two weeks.. Its great we got the TD but im afraid one of these days when Djax has to stop to catch it that he gets rocked/injured because McNabb cannot get the ball where it needs to be.
thats Cobb on Kolb crime if you ask me... as said by yophillybro
well
If you think about it, both those times, Desean was WIDE open…..you don’t want to waste an opportunity like that, so you don’t want to overthrow him. I’m not defending McNabb’s underthrown balls, but at the same time, if the ball gets overthrown, it’s a valuable opportunity gone wasted…..
If I'm goin' to hell, you're coming with me...
he was wide open but thats not the reason McNabb underthrew him...
Desean has made McNabb look so many times its not funny… Desean is a monster..
thats Cobb on Kolb crime if you ask me... as said by yophillybro
There were a few plays
where he could’ve hit Celek in stride. But what can you do, we know what we have in him.
E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!!
JEEZUS...
its exactly what i said when i was watching the game. I said i guarantee there will be someone bitching about McNabb no making a pass or two. This guy has given us everything and we give him nothing but grief. ENOUGH ALREADY…be happy we have a QB that has been this good for this long. We’re in the playoff hunt every year.
Brian Dawkins for President
im just bitching about McNabb under throwing Djax 2 times in the past 2 games
shit happens but we won so whatever.
thats Cobb on Kolb crime if you ask me... as said by yophillybro
Annnnnnnd the other shoe drops
You’re starting to parody your own act. Mix it up a bit.
A) He hit Celek perfectly in stride on the first TD
B ) The “not hitting in stride” thing loses a bit of its power when a QB averages over 10 YPA .

You Are a Piece Of Work
U continually give out backhanded compliments….So quick to bench Mcnabb for his struggles even in a win. Im glad most Eagles fans actually understand the game and as such feel totally different then u. U are the one who give us all bad names smh
Joe D.
You are just like my ex-wife.
Nag. Nag. Nag.
McNabbs rating was 146.7. Stop being a bitch. Take the win and enjoy it.
i did enjoy it
i can’t say anything but positive things ? you guys are the real pieces of work. Youre the type who jumps on and off the band wagon from week to week
E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!!
Really? Show me a post where I dissed my Iggles or any player thereof...
…Mr. Bungee-Ass Complainer. You started the season an Eagles fan, but I’ve been watching you hammer my Iggles non-stop for weeks. Are you an agent provocateur from Dallas or something? Didn’t I hear you mutter ’y’all’ under your breath a few times?
I bet you walk all bowlegged and wear six shooter at night when no one is lookiing. Practice your your ‘fast draw’ to photos of Tony Romo, much?
Please note...
…that I ddin’t mention your star-shaped pasties that you wear under your work shirts. I wouldn’t do that to the rest the readers.
why's everyone complaining about Joe for being negative?
usually? sure haha. but in this post he explains his excitement over the win but points out that there’s still room for improvement. i don’t get the beef haha
they're either
a) moron fans
or
b) fair weather fans
moron fans don’t understand the game well and just cheer on the team no matter what. Fair weather fans will praise the team when they play well and then call for the coaches and players head after a loss.
E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!!
the problem is that
you dont seem to realize that mcnabb always has slump games, we should be used to it, you act like he wont come out of it
Weapon X eats babies for breakfast.
you can't just slump
lets say a miracle didnt hapen we sould’ve never amde it into th eplayoffs. in 06 he was slumping and we were on our way out of the playoffs. in 08 his slumping was so bad we lost close games and we didn’t make the playoffs..
catching my drift here? He can’t slump and drop a couple of games to shit teams. it has screwed us for severeal years now.
E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!!
you go JOE!
i got yo back homie
You dont like my IGGLES???!!!! well you can just suck my VICK!

I actually agree with you on this one
He has cost us some games, and last year we stumbled into the playoffs. It’s a pretty nasty what-if to consider.
I’ve got a few more what ifs for you:
What if we had gotten him receivers more competent than Todd Pinkston and James Thrash?
What if receivers hadn’t dropped every pivotal pass against the Carolina Panthers in the the playoffs?
For every time fate or circumstances bailed McNabb out, there’s another time it threw an obstacle in his path. There are times where McNabb pisses me off by throwing dirt balls and whiffing on easy throws, then there are times where he will thread the needle. Today was a good day, he played very well and hit 70% of his passes against a team that normally only gives up 157 ypg, but you make it soundd as though he was going against the lions.
by Livingonapear on Nov 1, 2009 7:41 PM EST up reply actions
yeah, i'm with you Joe
McNabb was AWESOME! But that doesn’t all of a sudden make everything he’s done this year (or the last few) awesome.

and..
c) bitchers
fans that are never happy. They bitch when we win and bitch when we lose. You Joe are c. They say things like: you dont understand the game, and you cheer the Eagles no matter what. Yah we like them no matter what, we don’t bitch when they win and scream for a firing or a benching instantly when they lose. We know that McNabb seems to always play bad in the the middle of the season. and he always comes out of it. We even won a game during his slump.

Our own little ray of sunshine.
Joe, you are so deeply entrenched in misery and negativity, I guess you can’t even see it. That’s truly messed up. Are the people around you always telling you to lighten up, or maybe just completely ignore you?
Oh Joe
when you resort to putting people down and swearing, you’ve lost the battle. Re-read some of your posts and you’ll see what we see. You’re a “c”
Brian Dawkins for President
Did I not tell you this happens every year?
McNabb has a bad game because they don’t run the football, we inexplicably lose to a horrendous opponent, Marty and Andy get their noses out of their asses, and then we run the football and explode.
Who’s the one who doesn’t watch Eagles football? Because I’ve seen this episode before.
Also, I’ve seen the five episodes where McNabb leads us to the NFC Championship game, most of the time with jack shit outside of Westbrook for offensive playmakers.
You’re wrong, McNabb is an elite QB, suck it, etc.
PS – You’re not an intelligent fan because you criticize McNabb’s play. That actually makes you an idiot, because you don’t even remotely understand something (in this case, the game of football) that you claim to know.
Carry on.
PS – You’re not an intelligent fan because you criticize McNabb’s play.
So you’re telling me McNabb is a perfect QB?
RIP Jim Johnson, best ever.

Yeah. Every Year is so right it has been MADDENING.
If they follow up next week looking like they did today, I might be cured of my madness.
ThE (long E) Most Fun I have had since opening week at least, but it feels like this is the game I have been waiting for for years. So often, When they get their noses out of their asses, as you so aptly put it (but I’m pretty sure it is often more than just nose), we establish a running game, it opens everything and the big plays come and we blow out a team for a half or even three quarters. Like how many 27-17 “blow outs/not as close as it sounds” games have we had over the years?
So nice to see them finish a game.
I didnt even read your post
Because your fist sentence "mcNabb has a bad game because the Eagles don’t run the football. " was SOOO wrong it wasn’t even funny. You obviously haven’t been watching the Eagles in mcnabbs early days when we ran the ball more often. mcnabb always had issues..carry on.
E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!!
Yeah but his point is solid
This 2nd era, post TO McNabb has been hampered by having to do it all on his worst days. If Donny isn’t on, the running game lets him work through it. And the threat of the running game let’s the rest of it come soooo much easier. I think if you were to go back and look at every game where we came out pounding the football, you would see w’s after most of them.
Your point is also valid and perhaps “more correct” but in cwel87 is on to the solution and you are talking about the problem. Nothing is a problem if Donny is on. When he’s on we could throw it 65 times and have 15 minutes of possession and still win.
BTW, we are now entering McNabb’s 3rd Era. The era of the twin-turbo!
agreed
Our running game a lot of times has been pretty bad. I think a lot of tha thas to do with blocking though. And when McNabb is on we’re virtually unstoppable.
E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!!
and I would be willing to bet...
that you loved him then. Now that hes not dominating the game with 4 TD’s every game you want him benched. Talk about fair weather fans.
Brian Dawkins for President
uh no
when hes slumping agianst OAK and CIN is when I want him benched.
stupid ass
E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!!
again Joe
with the putting down and swearing. Thats 2 lost battles in one day. Wanna go for 3? You wanted him benched, and now that he’s winning again? what should we do with him now? Put him in off the bench? Wait I guess Reid made the right choice and didn’t bench him. OOPS good thing you don’t have his or the front office’s ear, but if you had I guess Reid would’ve been fired years ago.
Brian Dawkins for President
hmm
well, the last time he got benched for poor play it worked. He came back like a bat out of hell and took us to the NFC champ game (with help from the D).
and we didn't bench him
in the Raiders game, and look what he did his last 2 games. 2 Wins.
Brian Dawkins for President
this man
knows what he is talking about. Just running around benching your starting QB is not the way to handle things. How are you to bench your QB every time he goes through a rough spot then turn around and say he is the leader of your football team.
Let's get it.
by homestar2281 on Nov 2, 2009 12:05 AM EST up reply actions
i think after 3 games of poor play it’s reasonable to bench him (poor play as in last year and this year vs oak…was wasn’t bad enough to warrant benching). He still had some wiggle room and snapped out of it today (excellent timing). You’re right…don’t bench him every time he has a rough spot, but last year he got benched following a terrible 3 game stretch (almost 1/4 of the season), and then rallied back. it’s a coaching technique that works
yeah true
last year it was fair but this year every one was calling for Kolb after two games of rough play(honestly his redskins game was just a decent game his QB rating was 91.4) and its just some what ridiculous at some point.
Let's get it.
by homestar2281 on Nov 2, 2009 12:30 AM EST up reply actions
I wasn’t really arguing that he should have been benched to improve his play, but just pointing out that the idea of benching him to motivate him isn’t a bad idea, since it has had past success. Also, I know that you know that McNabb did not play well last week. He snapped out of his slump and I’m glad, but benching him when he slumps (which has lately been a yearly occurrence) isn’t a bad idea. The season is too short for your QB to have stretches of bad games.
let's not jump
and call that redskins game a victory for McNabb…he played poorly

What about all the batted balls in the second half?
One I get. Two is understandable. Three you start to say ‘come on’ and the fourth?!?!
Last I heard 146.7 isn’t perfect so…..
All half-jokes aside. Don was great today and showed some good pocket presence stepping up and great timing on his runs. Loved the Bullet to Celek. And I think we can all safely say that Reggie Brown’s problems stem from not going to Arizona in the summer. Maclin did. Missed a lot of camp but still has the rapport with Donovan. I love that he knows to get low to catch Donny’s balls (yes I wrote that). if I’m not mistaken, Reggie only went to Arizona his rookie year. jus’ sayin’…
penetration by Giants D
There were so many batted balls because the Giants defenders were getting better penetration. Give them a little credit, the Giants weakness is in the secondary not on the line and it looked like the Eagles were getting worn down. Let’s not act like McNabb is the only player on the offense, other players executing are a factor.

I give you cedit for sticking to your guns
you know I don’t agree but I do give you credit for still being consistent with your points rather than impetuous, however McNabb looked amazing today did he not. Other than the fumbles, that were more the lines fault than his, this game was a prime example why McNabb is the best QB on this roster.
Let's get it.
I'm critical of McNabb
and CLOSE (not there yet) to calling for Kolb…but of course I can say McNabb was awesome!
I’m a fan and I want to win! When McNabb plays like this, I love him! He’s just inconsistent…I don’t know if we’re getting a total of 6 incompletions next week, or 19 bounce passes.

I don't agree with a lot of Joe's views, mostly on McNabb, but
why is everyone so hostile on this post? it’s sensable to point out small flaws while being excited with a win. and we beat the giants. we should be rejoicing not arguing haha
people act
as if your approval of a guy has to be unconditional. I don’t know where this idea comes from! Of course our approval of players is conditional on good performance! When McNabb plays poorly, why would we not criticize him?

joe d is a polarizing figure.

Yeah, but when he isn't hammering on the team he puts up good analysis.
He’s no JIBTA. Let’s give him some Xanax and keep him. Prepare the tranquelizer darts…
agreed.
i’ll give joe that for sure. his analysis is usually pretty on-target.

Joe-D is polarizing on ONE issue
and the people making him look polarized aren’t even thinking, they’re reacting emotionally.
All Joe has said is that McNabb is streaky, and his poor streaks have cost us games, and those games have cost us the post-season.
I don’t get why this is polarizing!!!! It’s a fact!!! Yes, he’s done awesome things too, no one’s taking that away from him.
