Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Early games open thread

Our Eagles have the week off, but the NFL does indeed go on anyway... For everyone watching the early games, here's a place to chat. There's some interesting matchups early on.

Lions at Bears, Raiders at Texans, Bengals at Browns, Seahawks at Colts, Titans at Jaguars, Giants at Chiefs (will there be an easier game to pick in the NFL this year?), Ravens at Patriots is probably the best early game, and the Buccaneers at Redskins.

As a reminder, Comcast is offering a free preview of the new NFL Red Zone channel this weekend during the 1pm games. So you can follow every single one of these games this afternoon live every time a team gets into the red zone. There's no Eagles game to watch so you've got 4 hours to dedicate to red zone! So be sure to check it out and let me know what you think of it.

I'm going to get the Giants-Chiefs game.

Oh, god… what horror that is going to be. As least the 4:00 PM matchups are good (Cowboys at Broncos and Jets at Saints).

RIP Jim Johnson, best ever.

My lineup blows. At 1:00 i get Giants-Chiefs, which will be over by the half. Then I get Cowboys-Broncos at 4:00 which should be a little better, especially if the Boys lay an egg.

Hey if anyone plays fantasy football, would you start Aaron Rodgers or Joe Flacco?

Right now I put in Flacco for a few reasons. First of all, he has slightly better stats on the season than Rodgers. Second, Rodgers has the worst offensive-line in the league in terms of allowing sacks. Third, Rodgers is playing on a huge MNF stage, and the whole Favre fiasco could really add a crazy amount of pressure on his shoulders.

The Ravens go against the Patriots defense, but I think they should be able to establish the run-game and eventually look deeper down the field.

Am I thinking along the right lines here?

I’m so glad I dumped Clinton Portis when I had a chance.

Get this trade.

I recieved: Forte, B. Marshall, O.Daniels
I sent: Hester, Owens, Portis, NYJ Defense.

I’m still awestruck that it actually went through.

Two easy wins

So far the next two games seem pretty much like a walk in the park since we’re going up against the bucks (1-3) and the raiders (1-3) .

You can't soar with the Eagles when you're surrounded by turkeys.

by Aeries god of soar on Oct 4, 2009 8:46 PM EDT reply actions

Two helping hands

I’ve never been partial to the broncos but I am glad our old players are still playing top notch football. It pains me to see Correll in so much anguish though. Brian Dawkins gave alot of pressure and tackles. They still got it.
