Who's In and Who's Out: Giants @ Eagles
As expected, Kevin Curtis and Victor Abiamiri will not be playing Sunday afternoon while they recoup from their knee injuries. Dimitri Patterson will also remain off the field while he recovers from his broken hand and quad injury. The big questions this week, though, are the status of Brian Westbrook and Macho Harris, who are both listed as questionable. Westbrook sustained a concussion last week against the Redskins, so it's hard to believe that Andy Reid will seriously risk his star player aggravating his injury. LeSean McCoy is likely to get the start, and should have his hands full with the Giants' dominant defensive line. Macho Harris didn't practice all week due to an ankle injury, and it is looking more and more like Sean Jones will take his place as starting free safety. This isn't as serious a loss though, as Jones is an experienced former starter who has a knack for always being around the ball. Refer to KingMcNabb5's article about Jones for more info.
On the Giants' side of the ball, three defensive starters will be on the sidelines: linebacker Michael Boley, defensive lineman Chris Canty, and cornerback Aaron Ross. This is a big blow to New York's dominant defense, and hopefully Donovan McNabb will be able to take advantages of the weaknesses in the secondary. Look for DeSean Jackson to continue his dominant performance with at least one touchdown. On the GIants' offense receiver Mario Manningham missed practice today with a shoulder injury and is listed as questionable. Over the course of the season, Manningham has emerged as a reliable target for Eli Manning and will definitely be a factor should he play Sunday night.

Giant Fan here
First lets hope for no more injuries on both sides of the Ball this week. I’m sure it will be an uncomfortably good game for all of us.
I have not watched much of the Eagles this year other than a bit against Wash. How good is McCoy at this point? A few Eagle fans have told me there is not much drop off from Westbrook but that sound like a stretch to me.
How has the Eagle D responded to no Dawkins and a new D-Coordinator?
As for the Giants Bradshaw is hurt and you might not see as much of him. He as a broken bone in his foot and he’s wating till the seasons over or until he fully breaks it to get surgery so who nows what to expect and when he’ll be done.
Manningham should play he’s been injured for a few weeks but has played. He’s so dam inconsistant I have no idea what he’ll do this week in a lot of man coverage. He might drop a few balls and run some wrong routes or he might catch 6 balls for over 100 he’s talented but young and still learning and not fully in-sync with Eli.

Overall...
Not a whole lot of drop off from where Brian is at the moment. Earlier in the season, McCoy looked even better hitting the hole. Westy was looking like he was getting back into explosive form just before his concussion. Shady’s pass protection is improving but nowhere near Westy’s, who few seem to realize is a GREAT blocking back. Totally under-appreciated. McCoy also seems like a fumble waiting to happen a la Tiki Barber’s earlier days. Knock on Wood. He can produce, however, both as a runner and receiver, so the play-calling doesn’t really change with McCoy in there.
Donovan, a la Donovan, was real good his first game back and is now seemingly settling into his mid-season malaise. Hopefully he will pull himself out of it without needing to be benched, cause if he is, he just might not get his job back this time. I think he’ll come around, if he looks at some tapes of the way he played BEFORE 2004, when we decided to become a Boom-or-Bust offense full-time until looming play-off elimination forces us to bring some sense to the offensive play-calling. If we can spread the ball around, it will open up the big play, but if we spend all day imitating the run-and-shoot sans the run, it will be a LONG day, cause our play-calling has SUCKED and we have shown no ability to make adjustments on game-day, but OC Marty seemed to address that this week. We’ll see.
Defensively, we miss Dawk, but I think his impact in Denver is greater than his loss here has been. I think he brings attitude, leadership and BELIEF to the Broncos. Here, there seems to be enough leaders emerging to offset his loss. The mad scramble after losing Bradley at MLB really hurt us early in establishing our Defensive Persona, but now we are seeing what we have. Witherspoon looks like he could work out. The transition to McDermott has been, JJ RIP, EXCITING. Think about the impact and energy Spags brought to NY. It’s the same scheme, but, if anything it is more wide-open. Sean is making JJ look like a conservative play-caller. He is adding new wrinkles every week, and he seems to trust his players and they seem to be just as excited to play for him. I like that he has addressed some of Jim’s shortcomings as a DC. For instance, Jim never used big tackles cause he wanted guys to get pressure, but we would get burned by Brandon Jacobs-like backs with our offense going 3 and out or having drives of 2 plays and 75 yds…either way putting our D back out on the field over and over. We use a rotation, but we haven’t had a run-stopping plug like Antonio Dixon in Forever. He doesn’t start, but he keeps the pressure off of Bunk and Pat, who are great against the run, but not designed to do it for 37-40 minutes a game. Little things like that have made me a quick believer in Sean and what he is bringing to the table. Plus, even without Dawk, it is the D that has established it’s personality. The O, with all the potential in the world, is still struggling to figure it out. This offense could be the Saints offense, SERIOUSLY, if they decided to actually RUN a west coast offense with Donovan in there, but they only seem to do that with a backup in. Right now this team passes and if it works, great, but if it doesn’t we just keep doing it over and over until we have no other choice, which sucks for the D. The inability of the O to sustain drives is what keeps this D from being best in the league, and keeps other teams in the game.

Thanks for the info. So it seems the QB's of both teams
are doing their typicall midseason fade while both O’s think they are are Run & shoot teams. I’ll assume Donnavan is throwing wormburners into the ground while Eli is floating a lot of passes to high.
Sheridan has been more conservative than Spags. D looks Bad. A few individuals look good like Tuck and Webser and T. Thomas has played well in Aaron Ross’s absence but overall the D is playing very poorly. Easy to Run on and givining up a lot of big plays. If the Eagles O-line and Donnavan show some of the same inconsistancy it will help the GIants a lot because the Giants D needs all the help it can get. I expect the Giants O to try and throw deep all game like in last year playoff game. I aslo expect it not to work like in last years playoff game. If the Eagles O plays 2 quarters of good football they should win thats all they’ll need. Giants need a lot of help to win this game, which is possible considering some of the weird games the Eagles have played over the years.
In regards to McCoy thanks for the anaylisis. Thats what I was looking for. I know he’s flashed some potential but is he a complete back yet. I think some Eagle fans that I spoke too see him run and catch well and assume he’s just as good as Westbrook but it’s the little thinks like blitz pickup that make a back complete and that type of stuff takes time and it’s very important in third and long situations. Most rookies are not that good at it. Heck Bradshaw for the Giants still struggles a lot at it while Jacobs is pretty good.

This is so weird
I was just playing Madden 09 and got burned by Kevin Curtis for 419 reception yards (no, I’m not exaggerating that number, but I am much better than that usually) and the whole time I was like “who the deuce is Kevin Curtis?”
Of course, as soon as I come on here after I play that game I see his name in the first story.

You must have limited football knowledge.
Andy Reid has to live with Sunday's reality: He was out coached by Tom Cable. (John Clayton)
Since 2005: Andy Reid 37-32-1; 7-25-1 when tied or losing at halftime.

I mean Madden 09
… :(
Believe me, I’m a die-hard football fan. I don’t know how I haven’t heard of Kevin Curtis. If I have, he’s just never made much of an impression on me I guess.

sunday's game
Anyone else just have this gut feeling westbrook will play and that andy reid is playing games with the media and the giants? Call me optimistic, but i also just have this feeling that the eagles prove on Sunday that the oakland game was a huge fluke and establish themselves as a serious nfc contender going into the second half of the season, call it a gut feeling i guess.

Strange
But I am more confident about the Giants winning this week than I have been the previous two weeks against the Saints and the Cards.
The only reason I can think of is that the Saints and Cards are playing good football, whilst the Giants and Eagles have not hit full stride yet which makes this game too close too call!
