To be clear: The Redskins are REALLY GOOD at stopping the run

Can everyone who posts about the running game please just acknowledge that point? You don't have to say the Eagles have a great running game, they don't. But please before carping about how poor the run looked last night, just write something like "I know the Skins have a top 5 run defense, but..." Just add to your credibility, ok?

Last night, other than the big DJax run, we were held to 55 yards on 26 carries, which is terrible. However we ran quite a bit in the 2nd half, it seemed like less because we didn't run that well. Again, with the opponent expecting the run (large lead) and being really, really good against the run (#3 DVOA), it's ain't realy shocking that we didn't have much success.

I know the Redskins are really good in run defense, but have we ever seen a run to the outside with westbrook/McCoy go for more than one yard? Why do we still try that play? I’m ok with not running well because the only reason we ever run is to keep the defense thinking it might actually be possible. I’m more concerned with missing open receivers/dropped passes and McCoy having terrible ball security…every time he touches it it looks like he’s asking to get it stripped.

Yeah I been trying to say this for the past couple weeks now

It’s not the play calling — it’s the execution as everyone just witnessed. We could run it more but…what the hell does it do? Had McNabb made some good throws we would’ve looked much better offensively…. 1-17 on 3 and 10+… Awful

3rd down is a BIG problem

when you can’t convert 3rd and long, but you can’t complete short passes or run to put yourself in a 3rd and short.

Something’s gotta give, and I don’t care what it is.

If Kolb can get it done…GREAT!

Hell, if Vick can get it done, I’ll take it.

If McNabb can do it with time cuz the line decided to block…AWESOME.

Overall Defense

I was going to make a post similar to this, all I have seen on here is how much the eagles offense sucks.

The Redskins have one of the best defenses in the entire league, their defense isn’t their problem its the ineptitude of their offense as we saw last night.

They are ranked fifth in the league in total defense, 3rd in passing, and actually their rushing d hasn’t been that impressive at 24th in the league, this could be do to the fact that teams are constantly running the clock out against them.

They are tied for 11th

in yards per attempt. As I said before, they were 3rd in DVOA rushing defense.
