North/South vs. Shifty/Shady
I love B.Westbrook. It was great to see him up again last night and on the side line and it was touching to see his brother standing beside him while he was down on the ground last night. Shady is coming along as a second stringer. He is getting yardage that Lorenzo Booker could not, but he's not yet up Buckhalter standards. I think he will be, though.
But right now, with the line not developing holes for either of these guys, I'd really like to see Eldra Buckley get a few touches. He isn't as shifty as Westy and Shady, but he showed such a relish in the pre-season for busting through lines on north/south runs that he might be more suited for how our line is playing right now. Maybe a limited expiriment with this guy might pay off. It couldn't be worse than what we are getting from Vick right now, which just seems to be a waste of down in most cases.

Unless we haven't seen something
i’m really over the whole “bring Vick out to lose a yard or two” experiment

SAME.
I’m tired of wasting our offensive snaps to nurse vick back to NFL form.

well we better get something for him when we trade him after the seasons over.

I have to think that's the only reason he's even out there at all
but if he doesn’t show something (he actually did look pretty quick on that third down conversion run) we’re not getting anything of value for him

depending on how hurt westy is
we might get to see buckley a little next week backing up shady…
i like buckley and i think he deserves a shot

I think he deserves a shot too
but NOT at the expense of Westy. I take Brian on the field ALL DAY if he’s able.

I’d definitely be interested in seeing Buckley in the game and not just on ST. I think he could make a big impact on short yardage situations. He has no fear and breaks through the line, and thats what I like about him.

His experience in the NFL
even though it has just been practice squad, probably gives him a nod over Shady. You could tell shady was hesitant hitting the holes. He’ll get there, but he’s not yet a great replacement for Westbrook

I dont think he would be a great replacement for Westbrook… thats gonna be hard to find and will take time, but I think he could be effective on short yardage situations. I liked how we used Weaver though for the 3rd and 1. I’d like to see more of that kind of plan.

Buckley's been impressive on ST
But honestly I don’t think we’d get much out of him on offensive snaps. You can’t deny the guy’s tenacity though. Gotta love it.

i completely agree with this post.
if we had a little thunder to go with our lightning we might actually be able to get some yards on the ground. whereas i am really happy that we have a guy with westbrooks skillset, i feel like we could really benefit from a good physical back that can bounce off tacklers. give buckley a chance.
