No way we win if we have an offensive performance like that against NY
A) We really need to do something with our offensive line. Pass protection is mediocre at best, and our run blocking is just as bad. We wanted more runs, we got more runs, but not much more success.
B) You heard me say it 100 times but McNabb is absolutely awful right now. How many 3rd down plays did he down right skip a ball to an open WR? In the first half I counted 3 -- one to Celek, one to Maclin, and one to Jackson. All three times they were open for the first down.
The Good
B) The pick up of Will WItherspoon
C) The big play ability. I love how we have guys who can make a 30-40+ yard play at any moment.
But seriously, this offensive unit needs to get better or we're in for a 8-8, 9-7 season.

A win is a win
Though I do agree we need to be more consistent. Donovan needs to work on his mid and short accuracy. The good thing is though…when McNabb usually has a slow game and then begins to pick it up as he goes. Against the #3 pass defense, I say not bad. Need to be better, but we have to start somewhere.
I don’t care if a win is a win it’s all about the superbowl sure we need wins to get there but you need to perform like an upper eschelon team to win it all and the eagles didn’t play like one. If you want to be able to compete with the best you can’t be going three and out when your defense makes game-changing turnovers. The Eagles need to start showing more urgency to get the ball in the endzone on offense if they don’t capitalize on possessions better teams will burn them for it.
Relax
This is the first time we had the offensive line we thought of (most of it at least). The only sack came on Peters (I dont know why he tried to cut block). The other sacks came on McCoy and a lucky straight leg by Albert. I think the O-line did pretty good since this is the first time they all played together. McNabb always is like this, and usually comes back big. We were going up against the 3rd best pass defense so I’ll contribute a little to that because McNabb had to go thru alot of his options and end up checking down. Lets just take this as a win and carry this momentum we have to the G-Men. GO EAGLEEEESSSS!!!!
Except for “McNabb always is like this”. I’m hoping for the best but when exactly is enough going to be enough?
McNabb is always like this. Some years, like last year, he snaps out of it midseason.
Some years, like the 8-8 year before that, he doesn’t snap out of it until we’re out of playoff contention.

Last year
in his 7 turnovers in 3 games stretch…we were out of reasonable playoff contention. The 2nd Washington game was the last time we had playoff hopes in our control, and our offense came out then like they did tonight (minus the big plays)…if it weren’t for a couple key and really unexpected losses we are 2 years out of the playoffs

lol
stfu ….still idiots calling for a change after a win and we are 4-2. Please bring in Kolb. I wonder if colt fans are crying for sorgee…..or palmers backup…..or Matt ryans backup…..I think Mcnabb isnt 100% from the Rib injury and he got hammered tonight a few times in the mid section…Im sure that could be a big reason for the bounce passes

Good thing after this game, McNabb will never be hit in the midsection again!

I agree with you…but NFC East games are always weird. When any two NFC East teams play each other, I’m not sure you can generalize much about how that translates to the rest of the seasons.
I wonder if I can bill Jeff Lurie and Peter Angelos for the years of therapy their teams are going to put me through.
It hurts me to say this...
but you’re right. 0 points in the second half. This was an unimpressive victory. An offense like this can’t hold a candle against NY. Mcnabb did miss some open passes badly. The offensive line looked horrendous. Mcnabb was running for his life half the time, hence the inaccurate passes.
I’m officially over with the wildcat. I prefer the traditional handoffs because it would still keep the defense honest for a play action pass. Reid did much better with the gameplan and play calling. Main concern is the O-line. Seriously, what was Peters thinking trying to chop block Carter? That could have turned the game around if they recovered it.
Only positives for the night was Jackson, Witherspoon, and the Eagles still won by 10 in an away game in which the Redskins played their best game of the year with a top 5 defense.
Get that O-line gelled, Reid has to keep his play calling balanced,Mcnabb gotta be more accurate, and they will be fine.
P.S. Mcnabb still gives us the best oppurtunity to win. Congrats to him for doing something only 7 other quarterbacks in history have done.
What a coincidence that our Phils and Eagles have their next games against NY teams. Bring it NY!

Eagles vs. Giants at the Linc on the same day Phillies take on the Yanks at Citizen’s Bank Park.
The city is going to blow up. Let’s make this a bad week for New York!

Was DJ showboating on his TD catch? That’s what they’re saying on Postgame. I thought he got hit because the ball was slightly underthrown and he slowed up a bit.
I wonder if I can bill Jeff Lurie and Peter Angelos for the years of therapy their teams are going to put me through.
i thought he might have been
it looked like he looked back at the defender a little haha
but hey, he had a great game. honestly im one of those guys who nit picks everything the guy does because im not sold on his personality, but he continues to prove me wrong (except when he aligator armed that pass over the middle, sorry had to mention it haha)
Hey
honestly Desean should be allowed to alligator arm anything across the middle…He’s 170lbs and any solid hit will knock him out for the game or multiple games…I was like 170 in the 8th or 9th grade. So really Djax should honestly be allowed to alligator anytime he wants to,he is way to important in our O. to go across the middle and try to prove something at 170lbs

allowed to alligator arm anytime he wants? you're outa youre mind lol
i admitted i can be critical of jackson but he’s an NFL wide receiver, alligator arming a pass is NEVER okay.
Todd Pinkston was 180 at a height of 6’3 and i’m pretty sure we all booed the hell out of him and his alligator arms.
This is one of the only times i’ve seen jackson do it and he had a great game so it’s no big deal i was just mentioning it to support my claim of being critical. But allowed to? No. Never.
agreed the offense needs to improve.
im a big mcnabb fan/supporter but there were a lot of passes in the dirt today.
but honestly im getting sick of the wild cat. and mike vick.
i’m not one of these anti-vick pro-animal people but the guy just doesn’t seem to have it. i’d like to see him recover and get his game back on track but i dont want the experimenting being done on the field during game time. he just doesnt seem very effective to me.
BUT: bottom line is a wins a win. i’ll take it.
watch out for vick
this week vs the giants…i think thats what andy was holding him for…he will see 8+ snaps and have his biggest week easy. I dont think anyone can sit on the sideline for quarters at a time and then come in and QB one play. But we will unleash #7 this week with plays we havent seen yet…..we are finally thru our Arena league portion of the sched. and on to the big boys im guessing vick over 50 yards total offense.

hmm...
against these ‘arena’ football teams he has come in and done nothing. and now we’re onto the ‘big boys’. i think that means he should touch the ball less, not more.
I do agree though, i think reid has something up his sleeve. Personally, though, i wish he’d keep it up there.
I’ve been waiting to see something like Arizona’s “Philly Special” with Vick but to no avail. Mcnabb spread out wide, Vick gets the snap, runs to his left, draws all the attention towards him like how a running play would and passes across the field to Mcnabb for a Jackson/Maclin bomb for a TD. Whisenhunt said they were saving that play for an aggressive defense like the Eagles’. Guess who also has an aggressive defense? Yup, the VaGiants. Next week would be perfect to try something like that.

hey man if it WORKS i'm all for it.
i just don’t like how we’re nursing this guy back to NFL form DURING our games. As of right now it just seems like a waste of snaps to me.
I laughed
when he came out, took a snap, threw a simple 5 yard pass, and went right back to the sideline.
Seriously? McNabb couldn’t do that?

I'm not sick of Vick
I’m sick of Lesean McCoy running the wildcat. It’s the same play everytime and the defense knows what’s coming. We never run anybody from receiver, we don’t do anything like that. It’s just a straight RB-direct snap. It sucks!
Either use Vick as a triple option threat, or at least put Jackson in motion (like the Dolphins do with Ricky Williams) before the snap.
Avant was wide open a couple times too and he was running clean routes in the second half. I was a little disappointed that McNabb missed all these open receivers and we didn’t score one measley point in the second half.

I think the real question is
Who is more out of sync come Sunday; the Eagles or the Giants? Neither team has been particularly impressive the last two weeks, though the Eagles managed to play at least one good half out of those two games.
For the first time in a long time I honestly have no expectation one way or the other for a Giants vs Eagles game, and that is more frightening than thinking one team will win (regardless of who I think is better).
mcnabb is the worst!!!!
last nights performance was another truly awful game from the league’s most overated player… mcnabb was just plain terrible… not one sustained drive against one of the worst teams in the nfl… with all that talent around him he still looked dreadful….how many 3 and outs??? how many 3rd and longs… how many balls thrown into the dirt? when is reid going to figure this out? mcnabb is a no talent lackluster loser…. what makes it worse is he actually thinks he deserves star respect… as average as garcia was, he was better on his worst day than bozo…. kolb?… hard to say if he has "it" but we know mcnabb does not!!!!!!!!!
