Sunday football open thread
Thanks to a Monday night game tomorrow, the Eagles have Sunday off and us Eagles fans get a stress free day of football watching.
The early games actually look pretty bad on paper. with only Minnesota at Pittsburgh looking like a decent game. The late games look a lot more competitive with the Falcons on the road against the Cowboys, the Bengals hosting the Bears, and the Giants hosting the Cardinals in the Sunday night game.
A Giants' loss today would draw the Eagles even in the loss column in the NFC East.

Knock on wood
Buy I literally had a dream last night that I was watching the Eagles game and the score was 8-0 for the Skins and then for some reason Mikell was back returning a kick/punt and he muffed it in the endzone and the Skins recovered for a TD. Haha weird ass dream!
...Seriously..lol
As for the games, C’MON STEELERS, DOLPHINS, FALCONS, AND CARDINALS.

My picks
-Josh Cribbs is the only player to go out onto the field for Browns, and they win!
-Crabtree has 6 TD catches, only to take off his helmet and reveal he is actually Jerry Rice
-Cassell and Rivers box it out during the coin toss
-Marvin Harrison hires someone to kill Peyton for showing everyone he doesnt need him
-The Patriots like England so much, they drop the ‘New" in their name and stay there to become the England Patriots
-Farve gets his arm torn off to reveal he is actually a robot, a very indecisive robot.
-TO and Steve Smith become best friends and walk off into the sunrise together, hand in hand
-Jest rush for 1000+ hands but still lose because of Sanchez throwing 9 pick 6’s
-Ocho Cinco changes his name to El Diablo
-Matt Ryan makes Tony Romo cry on a giant scoreboard
-Drew Brees throws a pass straight through a refs chest
-Kurt Warner eats Eli’s soul.

Aw damn
I was happy about owning a whole thread. :(
Steelers knocking Favre around. Always fun to see that.
RIP Jim Johnson, best ever.
HAHA
yeah, me too. Although the Vikings are knocking Ben around too, so it seems pretty even so far.

I wish RedZone was still free
I really liked it the debut weekend. The only thing is, it’s really only good for the 1:00 games, since there’s so much going on. We usually play 1:00, so I’m obviously watching the Eagles, and I have no use for it.

whats everyones fantasy lineup for today?
I fear im going to be dealt my first loss today b/c of carson palmer
I got:
Palmer
Marshawn Lynch
Tim Hightower
Desean Jackson
Vincent Jackson
Greg Jennings
Dallas Clark
Eagles D
and Ryan Longwell
I have Jennings too
where’s he been?
"What did it feel like? That collision, I didn't feel nothing, because he was pretty much defenseless. It was like running through a cardboard box. Seriously. Cardboard box."- Sheldon Brown on his pounding of Reggie Bush in the '06 Playoffs
My Fantasy Lineup (struck down by bye weeks)
Palmer
Leon Washington
Cedric Benson
Pierre Thomas
Lee Evans
Devin Hester
Ben Watson
Falcons D
Shayne Graham
Only have Watson playing in the early games. My opponent has Big Ben, Adrian Peterson, Anquan Boldin, Marion Barber. good thing AP and Big Ben are off to slow starts.
Palmer is actually my regular QB
But I usually have Chris Johnson at RB, and Mike Sims-Walker at receiver.
I have Flacco
crazy pick up that worked out for me, and MJD…if calvin johnson wasnt a bust this year I’d have a ridiculous team
My runningbacks are great, my receivers suck though
Matt Forte (too bad he’s a bust)
Chris Johnson
Pierre Thomas
Cedric Benson (14th round steal!)
Leon Washington
Mike Sims-Walker
Lee Evans
Devin Hester
Donnie Avery
my WRs should be stacked
but its been up and down. still undefeated though so i guess im lucky
RBs:
Lynch and hightower..helps that wells fumbled a bit early
Buckhalter, who has been a steal up till he got hurt and MJD
WRs:
Anquan boldin
calvin Johnson
Desean Jackson
Vincent Jackson
Greg Jennings
Damn I wish I had those kind of wideouts
DJax was great early on and Vincent Jackson has been good. Boldin, Johnson, and Jennings have been a little quiet.
Mike Sims-Walker was a great pickup for me, 21 points and 10 points last two games. Tried to get Steve Smith, stupid waivers…
But I am 4-2 but have gotten kind of lucky..
Vincent Jackson has been the #1 reciever for me this year hands down. Hes already up to 18 points today. Djax has been frustrating, but its not like i can sit him, he has too much big play potential, Boldin is hurt Johnson has a rookie throwing his way and has been a non factor.
sims walker is a good pickup, surprising this year, i tried to trade for him but it got vetoed…stupid espn fantasy vetoes.
wish you were in my league so i could trade you a WR for a RB
I got a trade on the table
Not really going to help me too much, but won’t hurt
Cedric Benson
for
Mario Manningham
Kevin Smith
Knowshon Moreno
I am worried about Hakeem Nicks taking over the number two spot
Nicks has had better numbers than Manningham lately, but the deal is too good to pass up.
I give the number 7 runningback, while in return I get the number 8 wideout, number 11 runningback, and number 21 runningback
71 yard TD by Rodgers to Donald Driver
Browns are terrible
TD Vikings 7-3. Would be tied 7-7 if it wasn’t for a shitty PI call…
Oh, and Tom Brady got picked off twice already.By the Bucs. Haha.
RIP Jim Johnson, best ever.
Still has his team up 21-0
More thanks to the defense then the offense though…
No kidding?
Glad to hear it, always fun when Brady struggles. Also my fantasy opponent has him.
Speaking of which, I’m glad I started Owen Daniels! 5 catches, 100 yards and a TD already.

Shit
I sat Donnie Avery and he already has 50 yards @ halftime…
Who is Austin Collie?
And why is he in my opponents starting lineup with a TD?
By the way... You can tell Childress comes from the Reid school of playcalling...
Earlier in the game, he passes on both 2nd and 3rd and Goal from the 6 inch line, with the best football player in the world and a great rushing O Line in the backfield.
Jeff Reed failed to push Harvin out of bound.
And did anyone see that Vikings player knocked down the ref?
RIP Jim Johnson, best ever.
I saw it, Great Block!
Though, on second review it looked like a block in the back. Should have been flagged and the return called back.

Love that game from a betting standpoint. Love the Falcons, too.
So the Eagles game 2m night will be the first Eagles game televised in my area this year.
Tough watching on a laptop with shitty feeds, but I’ll always bleed green.
Anyone else think the NFL is messed up with what games get shown and where. Albany, NY btw…but even when we arnt on same time as Giants we’ve gotten 2 cowboys games instead of the Eagles…i mean philly is closer to us WTF
I hear ya
I live in Buffalo, NY and I haven’t had any Eagles games televised yet either. I thought I would too. I remember I had Vikings/Browns instead of Eagles/Panthers I think. I was not amused.

They absolutely CANNOT get homefield advantage – They won’t lose at home in the playoffs.

Wow. I figured they win but not like this.
RIP Jim Johnson, best ever.
WOW
Not surprised- i had a feeling the Dolphins could beat the Saints. On defense get pressure and turnovers, and then on offense, score TDs off turnovers and run long, time draining drives.
eh
I think this team can take the saints. We hung with them for the first half, then before we knew what was happening it was over.
yeah
I think that had something to do with them having the ball inside our 30 2 consecutive times. that mighta put us away.
yep,,,,
though Miami had the EXTRA help…coming of a bye week…………
They had 2 WEEKS to study Brees and the Saints!!!!
i was wondering, is ingram going to be able to play next year? i know he had already injured his knee one time before, is there a big risk he could re-injure it again?
Very good point
Sorry i guess i was trying to believe in the Magic that are the Eagles Healers. /sarcasm
Supposedly not
The problem was that the first surgery he had was not done correctly. That’s the main reason he fell as far he did in the draft. Most teams felt he would have to have another surgery to truly fix the knee.
Now since he had the surgery done right by the best of the best in that debt, supposedly the knee should be as good as new… but I don’t know if that’s something you can ever know for sure.
But
I have a feeling that they will give it to the Saint due to the Review mess up against the Saints earlier in the Game !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Looks like his knee was down. Still, the review gives the Saints enough time to spike it or get the FG team on the field.

I was just thinking the exact same thing
He has no excitement, no enthusiasm (unless we’re talking about Tim Tebow, of course), and yet, I still prefer him over Joe Buck and his alienface.
Yeah apparently they bought the hype that the game showed they were better than their record.
The Raiders are just as bad as we all thought they were… they just beat us.
Kinda sux
Watching a ROOKIE QB pick apart and Oakland defense. I know its Oakland, but they beat us fair and square. But Sanchez is doin what Dmac was suppose to do! Pick apart an inferior team..

Gah. There goes my fantasy team. See ya next year, folks.
Anyways, about the games: Uhh, the Jets pretty much inadvertently helped Oakland find a quarterback that can…well, you know…quarterback. Funny how things in the NFL work.
They stopped going to Gore after a while…probably because they were in the hole. I suffered too. But Thomas Jones is saving me at the moment.

Great game though
What a shootout…made the Saints defense look like shit.
Not really
This is the NFL – you’d hope that eventually, some team would have given them a fight. They still have yet to win a game by less then double digits.
I officially do not like the Saints.
Unreal
Saints have three matchup with winless teams (Rams and Bucs x2), Panthers twice, Redskins, Dallas, and Falcons x2.
What an easy bloody ending to a season…
RIP Jim Johnson, best ever.
Yup
Their schedule’s a joke. They should honestly skip to 15-1, and maybe need to add a little hop to get to 16-0.
Fucking hell, this shit again?
Saints most impressive
Laying down in the 1st half and just blow the Dolphins doors out in the 2nd half. 10 G is a lifetime yet in the NFL but with their remaining schedule and a 6-0 start, pretty hard to not see the Saints with at least 13 wins and home field through out the NFC playoffs.
More and more
It looks like the Eagles’ season is going to come-down to how they do in 3 NFC games:
@ Chicago (Nov. 22)
@ Atl (Dec. 6)
SF (Dec. 20)
All second-tier NFC teams that will likely be in the hunt for the wildcard.

Thing about the Giants losing is
The iggles have yet to show you much, and could very well lose to the skins tomorrow.
They are going to be so absurdly angry
Plus, now we actually have a linebacker that can cover tight ends
Wonder...
What that lonewolf guy on the philly.com forum thinks of his manlove Eli “Greatest QB Ever” Manning now- not clutch tonight!
Yes, it does...
Cowboys and Giants are now tied with us in the loss column. Every game matters.
Andy Reid has to live with Sunday's reality: He was out coached by Tom Cable. (John Clayton)
Since 2005: Andy Reid 36-32-1; 7-25-1 when tied or losing at halftime.
We beat the Raiders senseless (like any professional football team should have), we're 4-1
And staring 5-1 in the face with the Giants down a game on us.
It’s huge. And it pisses me off.
And it sure as hell pisses the Eagles off, too.
Good
Maybe they’ll never rest on their laurels again. Never underestimate a team again.
But we’ll see
notice the giants scored on a fluke play and short field
this is not as good a football team as they thought when you kill crappy teams
Weapon X eats babies for breakfast.
We really were playing well until we screwed the pooch last week
I think we can regain that form. I’m not sure if the Giants even ever had form to begin with; they were just armed with an easy-ass schedule.
im optimistic we can get back to that form also. i really think the nfc east is there for the taking for us
As do I
I’m as big a McNabb supporter as anyone, but I really think he needs to exhibit a lot more fringe-psychotic passion. I never see him get really fired up – I think the young players could get a huge boost from him unleashing some of that much-too-harnessed energy.
Last note
I hope Sheldon covers Miles Austin and not Asante. I want someone who can tackle on him. Austin has just turned medium gains into huge plays because of HORRIBLE tackling. And saying horrible is saying it in a nice way.
RIP Jim Johnson. You will truly be missed.
Now we need this win!
