Reid=Inflexable, unadaptable, unimaginative

First off, I don't think the Fatman should be fired. In fact, I think he should be extended. I don't think he should be extended for too long though. Just wanted to get that out of the way, so you Reid nuthuggers don't cry.

Andy's Eagles have always looked the same. They have been very good at times and very bad at times. More good then bad though. But,as we all know, he hasn't done enough in the pressure situations to warrant anything other than a little credit.

Star-divide

Andy's Eagles annual problems:

1. Lack of balance(when needed) or asks Mcnabb to do too much (everygame!!!)

Other than Peyton Manning, who else is asked to do as much as Donovan by their coach? If there is someone else out there I would sure like to know. Andy, is always calling 40, 50, or whatever number of multiread pass plays. Why? Who knows... Has anyone seen the Vikes play? Childress asks Farve to make a few plays and keeps good balance (I wish he would have done that here). I've seen it with my own eyes. Farve isn't back there gun slinging like Mcnabb. This has been going on forever now.

2. Depends on too many blitz plays

Why do we have to blitz like 40% of the time? Have we not ever saw a WR screen or a RB dumpoff? Every year it is the same... What happened to calling pressure blitzes will man on man press corners? I haven't seen it that often. Blah, Blah. Change up our defense!!!!! Same old, same old.

3. Clock management problems

This dude has no idea why or where he should use timeouts. He hasn't learned this??? How many more times should we have to watch this????  A million more? Wait, I should jock him too, right? Effe that!

4. Virtually no halftime(or in-game) adjustments

This Fatman is stuck to his passing menu. When we came back to win? I remember KC, and almost NO and AZ. I don't have any game film to rummage through but I see our team as a poor ingame ajustment type.

5. What happened when we ran nohuddle today children? I think Oakland called timeout. What happened after that children? We didn't use it anymore :(  So let me get this straight, we use a technique and the opposing team freezes, right? Then we don't go there again? Am I missing something?

I don't look up DVOA's and Profootball reference because of last years NFC championship game and games like this. NJBammer, weren't we supposed to kill? I think so. So, I am not using these stats to back up my opinions. I simply don't value them that much. They do have value, but I don't know how much they should be valued.

We need a new offensive coordinator and a clock managenment specialist for christmas. I would like a Sam LB and a new contract for our best CB, Sheldon Brown.

What do you guys think? Is Reid unadaptable? Isn't he stuck to a philosophy, didn't Bruce Lee teach us that no school thought was best?  Westbrook had 6 carries and 50 yards, why didn't Andy notice that?

100 wins.

Bad game yesterday, but Patriots looked bad against the Broncos. And the Giants lost as well. Every coach losses games from time to time.

His O Line played like garbage. Granted, Andy should have adjusted more, but I don’t know what the plan was on his part. Also, how much of it was McNabb missing passes, and making bad reads? We will never know.

Bleed green, or don't bleed at all!

The line was the problem. Why were we passing with 6-7 mins to go when we only needed one score to win? That is terrible terrible play calling. Not like we needed 14 or something.

Mcnabb was being killed by the rush. QB’s have bad games, coaches on there other hand, shouldn’t.

Andy is generally not adaptive

With that said, his game plan is usually pretty good to win from the beginning.

But he doesn’t make changes in-game.

He should hire someone to help him.

If he has a weakness he should fix it.

well said topcat. the blitzing half the time is the stupidest thing i ever seen especially against josh johnson and russell who are looking for the underneth stuff to begin with. eagles d did play good last game, but there in big trouble. jeremiah trotter…i mean i love him but k’mon…this aint 2002…he’s way past his prime and should not be a MLB on any SB contending team. i also got an issue with macho harris….no offense hes tryin and playing well for a rookie…but what SB team wins playing a rookie @ safety who played DB in college just last year??? done even get me started on clock management…..there is no way this team practices a 2 min drill….when was the last time eagles got a TD inside 2 mins a half or game with this kind of talent…thats ludacris!

Not like Russell is going to be looking deep everyplay.

I would have sat back and let him shoot himself in the foot. Not blitz and leave our pass coving retard LBs in a bad position. TE’s are money vs our LBs. I think that was bad coaching by McDermott

I am officially on Andy Reid “must be fired” bandwagon. Yesterday’s game was the WORST coaching I have ever seen.

Andy Reid needs to go. 36-32-1 (2005-present) Oakland game is unacceptable.

I was there

in that stretch last year…Giants, then BALTIMORE, and when it couldn’t get any worse, we TIE CINCY…that really did it for me and Reid/McNabb era…

I’ve admittedly calmed down a bit (that Thanksgiving game vs Arizona had a lot to do with that), and I won’t be so quick to jump on that bandwagon next time.

But yes, coaching was bad. I trust it will get markedly better in next 3 weeks with division rivals.

awfull!!!!!!!

Yesterday’s game was sad because we all know what the problems with the eagles are!!! The simple truth is Jeff Lurie is perfectly content with the team. He must know…
1. McNabb is a bone head… a self conscious clod who always plays down to the lowest level…. Rush was right about him.
2. Vick is a worthless distraction… nothing but a thug!!!!
3. Andy Reid is an awful coach… predictable… poor play caller… terrible field manager… overcomplicates things… he thinks that if he makes things incomprehensible we’ll all be fooled into thinking he’s smart… NOT!!!
4. Marty Morningweig is an idiot… just a freakin’ idiot.
5. Sean McDermott is not the man to replace JJ… At best he’s a good student.
Great teams are reflective of smart ownership… they are ahead of the curve… committed to excellence….with Lurie its year after year of the same sad story… it’s mediocrity forever….

I don't think you know what mediocrity means.

Take a look at the Cowboys of the past 3 years or so. Or better yet, the Sixers for the past 6 years or so. That’s mediocrity. Not winning the Super Bowl is not the same thing as mediocre.

Defense?

Why is everyone complaining about our defence blitzing? We had two picks and only gave up 13 points. Aside from the long td by Miller, our D played pretty good. Offense and coaching/playcalling lost this game.

by Makokchina on Oct 19, 2009 3:20 PM EDT reply actions

They did produce a good game effort.

My point is that in cruch time we always see the same things. The opposing team knows we are blitzing (overload one side with our S), and they throw a slant (K, Winslow), or they throw a screen (S.Breaston, NFC Championship), or they throw it to the RB on the overloaded side, over and over.

Why is this?

We are a predictable team. Our O and D, always do the same stuff. I don’t want to go to the NFC Championship or the Superbowl and see the same blitzes and the same ways to beat those blitzes. Kinda stale…

Fellas...let's get some things straight.

I agree with the topic of the post, but would like to clarify some things:

1) McNabb is a good, sometimes great QB that has the talent to win a superbowl with the right support, and that includes coaching. If McNabb had Sean Payton, Tom Moore, Josh McDaniels or Cam Cameron as his offensive coordinator, he would be one of the 3 best QBs in the league.

2) Andy Reid is a great head coach and front office guy. He is a good evaluator of player talent, however a terrible offensive game planner and playcaller.

3) Its about much more than just the run pass ratio. Calling all fly patterns with your WRs on passing plays when the O line is struggling to protect the QB is almost as bad as calling 80% pass plays.

4) A lot of the adjustments that need to be made in game are really not that difficult. As complicated as football is, some of the concepts are quite simple, if something isn’t working, try something else. If something is working, stick with it until the other team stops it. Really not rocket science.

5)Andy Reid does not coach the defense, which is doing very well so far, despite the fact we blitz so much. I say we let the defense keep doing its job.

6)The Saints D is also very good. The difference between the Saints D and ours is their offense rewards their efforts. They look like a much better defense because of their offense.

7) In other words, forget about the defense, forget about Mike Vick, forget about McNabb’s accuracy, bla bla bla! Those are all issues that contribute to losses in some way but no where near the scale of contribution of our offensive ineptitude. The biggest problem we face is Andy Reid/Marty Mornhinweg with regards to gameday preparation, in game adjustments, game management etc. This is the issue that would yield the biggest impact if corrected. If those two idiots would get their acts together, we would become a really scary team.
