Here we go.....Please give it a rest
Let me preface this by saying......I am as sick over this loss as anyone today. We needed to go into that Giants game 5-1....now we will be good if we are 4-2
Point of this post is to immediately squash all the band wagon jumpers and typical McNabb/Reid bashers.
i am a die hard (cut me I bleed green) Eagles fan. I recognize the kind of success we have had under Andy Reid and McNabb is arare and special!!!
Yet, here we go again with the posts and blogs stating that McNabb/Reid need to go.
A handful of things contributed to the loss today. 2 of them were not Andy Reid and Super 5.
1. I honestly think the Eagles were looking past the Raiders
2. One God Awful play of broken and missed tackles that went for 80+ yards by a pitiful slow tightend.
3. Our offensive line could not open running lones let alone protect Super 5.
So, if you are sick over todays loss as I am....and you wish to vent.....come up with an educated complaint and lets not blame it on McNabb and Reid.....
I still say we end at least 10-6 if not 11-5.

Disappointing L
I Can’t Believe We Lost this gm & Like most Im physically sick. This Gm was lost On the Lines particularly the offensive line. Mcnab was running for his life and there were no lanes to throw or for westbrook to run. If Peters Does not come back next week its gonna make things very difficult. Trotter……..Ya he is not the answer…….we Gotta make a trade TE& RBs are killing us.

We don’t need to make a trade, we just need to give the job to Gaither and stop wishing #54 was five years younger.

marty could have called a few more runs…that was working, and it was just dreadful being put in 3 and long every damn time.
I can’t believe we didn’t blitz the shit out of Russel. He sucks and could have been frazzled, but we gave him all the time in the world.
How did our O-Line not move sometimes when the ball was snapped? That was just embarrassing.
McCoy needs to learn not to fumble once a game.
Those refs could have called so many penalties that they chose not to (hit on a defenseless player on Weaver, PI on Maclin, late hit on Jackson on the punt return, etc).
Andy needs to make it so his team doesn’t have one of these stinkers every year.
Donovan should throw the ball to people’s upper body instead of their feet.
Did I say the O-Line was awful?
The receivers need to not drop passes.
Eagles fans need to stop being so melodramatic and saying we’re 8-8 at best/reid needs to go/start kolb. The eagles will win their games…they always blow an easy one. They all sucked today, including reid and mcnabb. They’ll get it together…they usually do.

that roughing the kicker penalty too...
not saying if would of been a game changer but it shows the lack of calls that we had…it was clearly CLEARLY roughing the kicker…the ref was right there…and no call….it blew my mind that there was no flag…

how did that happen?
he pretty much just ignored the fact that our kicker got killed.

please
if reid really cared he would of mentioned something to marty. dont try and tell me that marty calls every single play…if reid wanted to run the ball, which he doesnt at all, he would of informed marty of this…

ok
lets fire reid because he let his offensive coordinator do his job. I’m not saying reid is absolved of guilt here…but they all sucked…if we were to fire everyone who sucked today, we wouldn’t be able to field a team next monday.

What about Westy who had just 6 rush attempts for 50 yards including 9 catches for 91 yards? Yet, Reid still won’t run the fucking ball!

Actually
it was 12 run plays called. Donovan was credited with 2 rushing attempts, but those were merely scrambles after the called passing play broke down

Watching today’s game was like being trapped in a nightmare that I couldn’t wake up from.
I was in such disbelief of what was happening in front of my eyes, that even during our last drive I still felt confident that we would come out with the win. I know it was delusional, but the Raiders are just so bad that the truth wouldn’t register in my mind.
I see a lot of people on here pointing fingers at specific players and coaches, but let me tell you there aren’t enough fingers on your hands to point and blame those who deserve it. This was a team loss in its truest form.
Although I was crushed by today’s loss (especially with the Giants losing), I still have tons of faith for the future. This wouldn’t be the first time we lost to a shitty team, and it won’t be the last time.

REASON FOR KOLB
I love DMAC seriously….i think he IS elite…..however inconsisten , it has been his MO since he came to us. now….
1. we have many new ,young players Kolb amongst them . If we let them grow into rythem with DMAC and than he leaves ie. injury, trade , retirement…and we have Kolb come in than …it will be a severe disturbance in rythm and a waste of however many years of development
2. Kolb has shoown he can be consistent when given the chance. Is he as talented as DMAC prolly not. Is he as experienced as DMAC …duh ,no. however when you have consitency…you can BUILD rythm . Something the eagles havent done since Cunningham.
You dont like my IGGLES???!!!! well you can just suck my VICK!

1. This arguement is flawed as starting any QB you can risk them getting injured and putting in a new QB that may not have the rythm or development. So…if we played Kolb, the exact same thing could happen.
2. Two games doesn’t show anything, nor does it show that he is consistant. Hell, look at all the great games that Sanchez had for the Jets and look at how many picks he threw yesterday…that doesn’t look like consistant…but yet people were all about him after those three great games. Two games is nothing!!!

The problem isn't McNabb
it’s that the game plan Andy puts together for McNabb puts too much on his shoulders. If it were Kolb or when it was Garcia…we thrived on short passes and solid running. When we have McNabb it’s as if no drive counts if it doesn’t have a 50 yard bomb.

Our o-line needs to get healthy fast
by eaglesinmd on Oct 18, 2009 11:43 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
It’s time to look towards next season, especially if Peters and Gaither are injured.
I know that’s going to get a backlash, but you’re thinking it, too. There’s no way we can win a Superbowl with the peices we have. Not happening. If the Raiders can expose us, the Giants can. The Saints already have. We can’t get past the Favre-led Vikings.
by UnclaimedFright on Oct 19, 2009 12:07 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Well, in all fairness, the Giants just got exposed too.
They have a pitiful secondary. No one realized it before today because their D-line was always getting to QBs, but Brees looked like he was running a scrimmage out there today. So there is hope there if our o-line can be remotely healthy and actually show up to play.

Next season?? We’re 3-2 man, only one game behind the Giants, and there’s TONS of football left to play. So we lost an ugly game to a really bad team…big deal. We’ve been doing this for years, and yet we somehow make it into the playoffs more often than not. I like how one horrible game immediately erases all of the things we did correctly during the first quarter of the season. There’s plenty of good to go with the bad, you just have to have faith that this loss will bring out the best in us later on down the road. This is a playoff team, even with the injuries, and yes, even with the way we played today.

Yea, um no. I am not thinking that too.
That is just insane overreaction. Chill out. As I said, the Giants got exposed today. Also, Favre is always good for a December implosion, so I’ll wait and see on that one. We are 3-2. We haven’t played any NFC East teams yet. I won’t say we’re fine, but it is just plain stupid to claim the season is done. Come down off that ledge. We have 11 more games to play. We always manage to have a game or two like this. When Luke Skywalker found out Vader was his dad he was less melodramatic than this. Jesus.

Not true
We easily could have won this game with 3 step drops, quick releases, screen passes, and a running game. It was the game plan, not the personnel

Not true at all
The Giants finished 1st in the NFC following the regular season and they got POUNDED by Cleveland in week 6. Derek Anderson threw over 300yds and two TDs. We’ll come back!

Let me give you reasons the Eagles lost.
1. Andy Reid: He is losing it as a head coach of the Eagles. Utterly predictable and makes some of the most ridiculous decisions ever, like wasting timeouts especially the one he used at 2:02 in the 4th!! Calling pass after pass after pass, even though Westy is killing it. Even when he called pass plays, the calls were horrendous. Calling for long passes when the O-line was sucking ass and Mcnabb was under pressure the whole game!! Of course, he won’t be passing accurately. He could have ran the ball, or call short quick passes and depend on RAC. Andy Reid’s record last 4 years. 33-30-1
.
2.Pass blocking: King Dunlap sucks. Brent Celek still can’t block. Thank God, Herremans coming back next week. Let’s hope Peters is ok as well.
3. David Akers: Missed 2 fucking field goals. Those 6 points could have given us the win.
4. Sean Mcdermott: Got killed by basically the same play action pass to the RB/FB all game. That 3rd and 10 at the 2 min mark? Horrible play calling. Why bltiz when Russell cannot make a play to save his life? Running backs and Tight Ends killed us.
Blame those people before you blame Mcnabb for everything.
Felix is better than Brian. You can call me FIBTB.

Not on McNabb
When McNabb’s in, Andy’s game plan is all on his shoulders. That’s why Kolb and Garcia were successful. Andy knew they were inferior QBs, so he created a game plan that got the ball out of their hands quickly.

honestly I wouldn’t blame McNabb for everything and I defend him a lot but he just either overthrew or underthrew a lot of receivers today that he had wide open. However you also have to blame it on a number of drops by the receivers as well. The offensive line…all I can do is just laugh at that…just a completely feeble attempt to block the raiders, the worst part was seeing Dunlap get run over by Seymour. Akers missing 2 field goals definitely doesn’t help, although I still believe in him. On one of the sacks McCoy completely missed the rusher and let him take a free shot at McNabb…that was bad. So yeah overall this game SUCKED and it’s gonna leave a bad taste in everyone’s mouth all week.

Let's face it - last week, the Eagles didn't do their job
Everyone knew how easy the Raiders were going to be. They didn’t practice as hard, study as hard, care as much. Then Pierce said something to intentionally light a fire in the organization, and it did. We came out flat and never recovered. They were bullish and we didn’t give a shit.
This week, the Eagles will be ready. It’s a division rival. No matter what, Sunday was unacceptable – but at least solace can be taken in the fact that it was the least important of our games (AFC games are weighed the least when determining playoff position).
I’m happy the JV portion of this schedule is through. Playing real football teams is exactly what the Eagles need.
Oh, and the offensive line needs to learn how to block.

I think the post is more about the knee-jerk reactions to fire Reid mid-season and bench/trade McNabb.
There are already a million posts/comments to that affect. Reid can easily shoulder the blame here and McNabb can take some too, but it isn’t the end of the world. I would put Reid and the O-line situation at the top of the blame list for this game. Akers can’t be excused either, though with our offense 13 points should be easily eclipsed.
