Giants vs Saints- Who are you rooting for?
It's the marquee NFL game of the week, what with the Eagles playing the beyond pathetic Raiders.
Now, maybe it's because I grew up in an era when the Eagles and the Giants both were pitiful doormats (so were the Redskins, for that matter) and don't have the ingrained animosity the rest of you feel toward the G-Men and their fans- folks my age tend to feel like they were fellow sufferers- but I calculate I very much have a horse in the race when the Giants play in New Orleans Sunday at 1 pm... and it's New York.
The Eagles need the Giants to hang a loss on the Saints since we sadly lost the head to head tilt with them (our single loss at this point). As to the Giants, well, the Eagles still have the capacity to hang two defeats on them.
So, counting on the Eagles to take care of their own business from here on out (No More Stupid Penalties) I feel I gotta' say Go 'Jints! Beat the 'Aints!

I want to win our division. I do not want a wild card berth. I want to win the division.
Saints hanging a loss on the Giants would definitely help.
Go Saints!
About 10 minutes ago, I was pondering my own existence. Then I decided that it didn't matter.

If the Eagles beat the Giants twice, they will win the division by sweeping it (I know, I know).
I want that NFC Championship in Philly, and for that we may need the best overall record.
Damn me for an optimist

i do see your point about home field advantage though
especially if we wind up playing the saints in the NFC championship game.
I think we all know that we’d have beaten them in 06 if that game wasnt in the dome

Im actually kinda happy looking back now
cuz if we won that game then McNabb may not be in Philly anymore, we wouldve had Garcia as the QB and wouldve only gotten 1-2 years out of him before the tread fell off the tires…
Its a terrible thing to say but had we not lost that game the face of the eagles couldve been completely different right now… But I still wouldve loved to win the SB that year.

if we won that game then McNabb may not be in Philly
I don’t think this was ever an option, we have had quite a few QBs come in here and do well during McNabbs injuries. Not a single one challenged him for the starting job when he returned.

I totally agree with you. Division FIRST people. The only way I can root for a division team is if they are playing each other and one needs to lose to benefit us. I hate them all but I will root for the Foreskins if playing the G-Women because they are in first place. Simple!

Gotta go Saints here.
Two reasons for me. 1) A Giant’s loss more directly helps us than a Saints loss. As others have said, division before conference. 2) I’m a secondary Saints fan having grown up (and now living) in New Orleans.
But really, as an Eagles fan I’m always uncomfortable rooting for our rivals. Begrudgingly I rooted for the Giants in the Superbowl over the Pats, but that was really the only time I’ve done it if I can’t help it.

B. They play The Ratbirds (Ravens)
C. I wanna get laid.

I couldn't, and still can't, stand the Pats.
Had they not been undefeated, I would have rooted for them to beat the Giants, but knowing the number of Boston fans that I do (and dealing with plenty more at school at the time) I couldn’t imagine the prospect of them having that record. Their fans have become insufferable thanks to the Sawx and Belichick.

1) Eli on top of his PF gets his knee twisted backwards in a 90 degree angle thus putting him on IR for the year.
2) Jonathan Vilma puts cements his helmet into Brandon Jacobs knee thus putting him on the shelf 4 the year.
3)Steve Smith while stretching out for a first down dislocates his shoulder thus sendin him packin 4 tha outhouse.
4) Osi re-injures same knee forcing a early retirement.
5) Antonio Asshole forgets he still has plaxs glock in his gym bag and shoots himself in the ballz.

Dude just look at this list you're "vigorously rooting for"
1) Eli on top of his PF gets his knee twisted backwards in a 90 degree angle thus putting him on IR for the year.
Those aren’t high ankle srains.
You’re saying would cheer if you saw Eli and Jacobs seasons ruined, not to mention Osi’s career ruined because they play in the same division as you? I would think after all of the injuries McNabb and Westbrook have suffured over the course of their careers, you might be a little more sensitive to that type of talk.

No questions asked. You have to root against your division opponents right now. All we want is to win the division. Then we’re guaranteed to be in the playoffs and once you’re in, it’s anybody’s game. The Saints will win their division so they won’t affect us in the end. We just need them to continue winning and beating all NFC East teams and other possible NFC Wild Card teams like the Falcons.
