The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
The Good...The Eagles are off to a nice 3-1 start
The Bad...3 wins against horrible teams, the loss against a good team
The Ugly...We have to wait 3 more weeks(NY Giants) to see if we got what it takes to contend for a SB
Assuming we beat Oakland and Washington, the Eagles will be 5-1 heading into the Giants game. I'm hoping we are firing on all cylinders at that point, so we can finally judge how good we really are.

By the looks of yesterday..
and assuming we destroy Oakland and Washington, I think our chemistry will be great. McNabb and our good receiving corps will have their timing down. The thing that worries me is our tight end defense. We let Winslow score twice with a QB straing only his 2nd game!!
We HAVE to get that fixed before we face some really good TE’s aka Kevin Boss, Jason Witten and Antonio Gates. Those TE’s will SLAUGHTER us if we don’t!! Other than that we look solid enough to go deep in the playoffs.
Agreed
Kevin Boss is not in the upper echelon of TEs in the league…Fact! Research it.
Even in the offseason, Celek was rated in the Top 10 of TEs! And Boss #16!
And even now Brent Celek is the number Five TE in the League! Currently!
Currently Boss is not on the list….Interesting
Well even excluding Boss
We’re still facing some really good TE’s. Don’t forget about Tony Gonzalez .
With all the injuries we have faced regardless of the talent of the teams we have played I find it very promising to be 3-1.
If arguing our competition helps people believe our team isn’t for real than so be it.

I know. At least we didn’t struggle to beat the Chiefs like the Cowgirls and the Giants beat those same Cowgirls on a last second field goal.
Things look promising. Now the Eagles need to beat Oakland by more than 37 points :)

I say that to Cowboy fans too
The ‘experts’ aren’t down on Dallas for their losses (to NYG and Denver)
It’s their unconvincing wins against terrible teams that raise the most question marks.

Good points
I believe we have the talent…we just need to stay healthy and execute til the fat lady sings

Yeah.
It’s hard to get excited when the combined record of the 3 teams you’ve beaten is 1-13. That being said, I am excited that we’re 3-1. if Hobbs doesn’t fumble, that saints game may have looked a lot different. As long as we don’t struggle (what so ever) against these weak teams, I’ll be confident going into week 8 vs the Gmen
Worst QB ever...
…has gotta be Jamarcus or Jett Jackson (that clown from Tampa). Watching him throw those 3 picks—and watching that moron Morris not kick the field goal on the 4th and 2—actually made me thankful for Andy Reid…for about a second…then he put Vick out there and all good tidings were swept away in a chorus of boos and “you suck”
"Right now Winston Justice is the guy...until that person gets back out there"
Jamarcus is god-awful
but i didn’t think josh johnson looked AWFUL for a rookie against our d. was he worth the boner the fox announcers had over him for some reason? no. but i don’t think he’s all that bad.
He isn't a rookie
But considering how many passes his receivers dropped (6) and how much pressure we put on him I didn’t think he did that bad. He beat the blitz a lot and showed a lot of elusiveness. He ain’t a savior, but he was pretty good. Think of it like this, he put up 2 passing touchdowns on the #4 pass defense. Thats not a good thing for us.
I was actually impressed
at how quickly he released the ball to beat the blitz. We have to address the some middle of the field issues.

We NEED to run MORE
If we run more…our passing attack would be even greater

that was pretty even attack, for andy
we ran 17 times (called runs, excluding kneel downs) and a QB dropped back to pass 26 times.
that’s about a 60:40 pass:run ratio, which i believe is andy’s target.
I tend to agree...but
Every DC knows thats his ratio….I would like to believe we’d have a ton of success pounding the ball with Westy, McCoy and Weaver. I even feel good about Buckley. With the first three heavily involved in the running game, defenses wouldn’t know who to cover, period. Hahahaha…I’m just so anxious for our first title!

the ratio's not the problem
it’s the ineffectiveness of the running game that’s the problem. With the exception of Westy’s 7 yd TD scamper, we couldn’t move the ball on the ground

agreed 3.6 yards per carry is hardly a dominant running game.
Side note on 1st down McNabb was 7-9 for 152 yards 3 TDs and a perfect passer rating of 158.3 …. why run on first down when your QB is putting up those numbers?

it's a good point
and Andy stresses it too…why stray from what’s working?

you know whats funny I was looking at Football Outsiders and the ALY stats were pretty interesting to say the least. I would not have guessed that we are actually better running over Winston Justice than anywhere else and we rank 9th in the league for power run blocking.

Hmmm
That is interesting. I’ve read an article or two that basically praised Justice for being a beast on the line, especially run-blocking, but I definitely would have figured that Peters was the better option.
Nice find.

it’s weird because I specifically remember him getting ZERO push in preseason when we ran to his side.

more thoughts...
I would agree that even though we are 3-1, the jury is still out on how good the team really is. After our three week battle with the NFC East, we’ll know a lot more. In a way however, the same can be said for the Giants, who at 5-0 have beaten only one relatively decent team. And given the last two performances from the Cowboys, one has to wonder how good they even are.
The Redskins are on the verge of imploding, and for that reason there is no excuse why the Eagles should lose to them in two weeks on Monday night. We can’t afford to be 0-1 in NFC East play heading into the Giants and Cowboys.
I think Oakland may just be on par with St. Louis for the league’s worst team. They are absolutely pitiful in every sense of the word. Taking JaMarcus Russell with the first overall pick has set this franchise back at least three or four years.
My neighbor is a Cowboys fan and after the Chiefs game I ran into him and he told me he was going to have a beer in celebration of his team winning. Not to burst anyone’s bubble, but how on Earth could you be happy or satisfied with that game? I realize a win is still a win, but needing overtime to put away a completely hapless raises eyebrows…..and all kinds of questions.
Constant Vigilance....
we can’t afford to overlook the Raiders, no matter how bad they are.

Once November hits we start playing good teams. My only issue is, I can’t really identity how well our team is playing against mediocre or bad teams once its time to play the good teams. Once Nov. starts we got Giants, Falcons, 49ers, Broncos and we can’t discredit the Skins and the Cowboys. Regardless of the Skins record – they were the worst in the division last year and they still beat us twice. I know we are a good team but its hard to really justify how well we’ll play without playing any good teams (minus NO due to McNabb being out).
