Topic of Discussion
After the win over Minny dwarg from Daily Norseman posted Eagles Fans are Class Acts. Which was very cool of him but he said something that started me wondering how people here feel about the same situation. I have had this debate with my friends numerous times and we are all almost split down the middle.
I'd rather we lost to the champs then some chumps so I'll be rooting for you the rest of the way.
This brings up an interesting discussion how do the rest of you feel about this. I for one am from the same school of thought I want to know that I lost to the best not someone who couldn't hack it. I feel that if I lose to a team that makes it 1 more maybe 2 more rounds I have this what if feeling. The feeling of "We could have done better, gone farther". If you lose to the eventual champion I think it lessens the blow, ever so slightly.
I also understand the wanting the team that knocked you out to fail and therefore have some sort of vindication albeit not at your hands. But I lean the other way.

Depends
In general, I am with you and the Norsemen. I found myself pulling for the Saints, Bucs, and Rams for that very reason. It is some form of vindication for me to know that we lost to the best. There are exceptions though. If we lost to the Cowboys, I would still want them to lose the following week and I would want them to lose in humiliating fashion. There are also playoff games that we lose that cause instant hatred for the opponent. I remember feeling that way about Carolina because of how smug Ricky Manning was after that game.

It goes without saying that the Cowboys, Giants, and Skins are the exception I always want them to lose.

Agreed
Nor the cowboys -obviously. But I never had a problem with the Redskins. If they beat us, I’d root for them.

I personally
derive no pleasure from having the team that beat us go on to win the championship. I generally always want said team to lose in the following round, NFC East foe or not.

As long as we don't lose to the Stinkn cowbows. I will never root for them.
I’ve was rooting for NY Giants last year in the bowl. Eventhough I wanted to see history with the Pats.

i hate 2 say it
but i was rootin for the Giants last year too, i honestly just hate the Patriots with a passion (not as much as Cowboys) but i did not want to see them win then have to deal with PatriotMania up ehre in CT which happens every year they win, so im sorry i was rootin for the Vagiants last year
But im definitly not this year
To me the Eagles are like that girlfriend that pisses u off, then u hate her, but the next morning you wake up and remember that thing u love so much about her

I didn't have much of an opinion of the Patriots
then I lived in Boston for three years and witnessed that their sport fans are almost as bad as NYers

yup
I did find myself cheering for Manning and Strahan because I hate Billacheat and the Patriots sooo God Damn much.
Also I hate Carolina because of Ricky Manning and MIke Rucker. Rucker hit Dmac dirty IMO.

Ricky Manning?
You should hate PINKSTON for letting a 5’8" 200 LB cornerback beat the shit out of him.

There should be a third option
“my team won’t be defeated”

Being the vindictive prick that I am, I want any said team that beats the Eagles in the playoffs to to have an ass beating laid upon them the likes of which have never been seen before. I’m such a miserable bastard that I still root against the Raiders for beating the Eagles in Super Bowl 15. Of course I rooted for the Raiders like a mother scratcher in week 17 of this season, but otherwise I am an unforgiving, vengeful person.
Does that make me a bad person?
