Eagles and the Pro Bowl
"The NFC Pro Bowl roster includes 16 players from teams that did not reach the playoffs, and only two Philadelphia Eagles. Yet the Eagles were the NFC's hottest team down the stretch and on Sunday played tremendous defense. The AFC roster has 20 players from teams that did not reach the postseason, and only two San Diego Chargers. Yet the Chargers were the AFC's hottest team down the stretch and on Saturday played tremendous defense. Both Pro Bowl rosters are dominated by gentlemen from clubs everyone was talking about at midseason (the Cowboys, the Jets) rather than those that performed well over the long haul. Please change the Pro Bowl voting so that full-season performance rather than early-season hype is what's rewarded!"

I never understood the rush ...
I mean the Pro Bowl isn’t until the weekend after the Superbowl so why not wait until the end of the season? … accommodations maybe?

Yeah, good question. There’s no reason it couldn’t all be done in the week before the wildcard games.

My small idea
just do away with the pro bowl entirely. The liability alone is just astounding. After the regular season, but before the postseason, vote for the best players and then fly ‘em out to Hawaii or wherever and give them a big production like the oscars or something. Don’t make them play, no one cares about that game anyway. They just cares who gets in.
If you’re going to have an oscars like thing, then you get to show highlights of the season, best catch, best defensive stand, best tackle, etc, in addition to the best players. I’d watch that program!

They are talking about moving the Pro Bowl to the week before the Super Bowl now. I think its a terrible idea because what if a player hurts himself before the Super Bowl.

I doubt...
…that any Super Bowl-bound player would play in that case. But you imagine that the teams most likely to go the Super Bowl (top seeds) would have a fair share of Pro Bowlers. That might make the game less interesting. Wait, is that possible?

yeah I think a lot of players who play in the superbowl usually opt out anyway even a week after. Definitely a bad idea to move it. I heard that they are going to move it to the main land like miami I think.

Screw the Pro-Bowl… It’s a friggin sham anymore anyway… You don’t actually get voted in on talent anymore; you’re voted in because you have a catchy name that sticks in the head of Johnny Douchebag down the street when he attends his yearly sporting event… Either that or you have a bunch of nitwit assclowns stuffing the ballot boxes like the Redskins fans… Can you imagine the shitstorm that would have occured if voting ended in mid-October when they held basically every starting position on the NFC roster?
Honestly… Screw the fan vote… the average fan doesn’t know his elbow from his asshole anyway… Have the rosters picked by coaches and players… Once you assemble the roster, fly everyone out to the Playboy mansion for some nice girl on girl on girl on guy on girl on girl action and call it a day… I bet that would really motivate some players next year…
But T.O. and his sideline histrionics wear on a quarterback. He's like the hot stripper you tried to clean up and convert into a real girlfriend. It's a lot of fun until the moment she has her second drink while out to eat with your parents. You unravel quicker than she does.

The problem with that is it gives no motivation to the Cowboys. What do they have to play for?

i beg to differ… i think that would lead to one motivated Pacman Jones… don’t you?
