RB

We need a big strong running back in the first round. Greene, Moreno, someone like that.

dude...

we can definetly get a big strong power runner either through free agency or later on in the draft. even better is the fact that we can afford to wait as late as the third round

no way detriot dosnt take sanchez or stafford with there first pick… And i dont see us taking a FS or SS with our first pick no ones gonna believe but Demps is our future at FS hes a BALLHAWK he just needs to learn the system kid can play..

haha yea i read on some mock draft that we were going to draft a FS because Demps can’t play as was evident in the NFC championship game. I just laughed.

by Ben16 on Jan 26, 2009 12:46 AM EST up reply actions

if you watch that whole play, you will see that Demps had PERFECT coverage on Fitz until the ball was thrown behind demps. Fitz made a perfect play at the ball, and Demps tripped when he Tried to readjust. I wouldn’t crusify demps over one missed coverage against a freak.

by Clyde Simmons on Jan 26, 2009 8:11 AM EST up reply actions

yea plus its Fitzgerald. I had trouble taking that mock draft seriously after he was saying Demps was not good because of that play.

by Ben16 on Jan 26, 2009 9:29 AM EST up reply actions

however...

Let me say that Demps has no future as our starting safety. the kids just too cocky and seems a little too small to me. Moore is such a beast, he’s like a linebacker who has the feet of a d-back. The only reason I have Detroit not taking either Sanchez or Stafford is because I think that the rebuilding process always begins in the trenches, and these two kids that I have them taking are studs at their positions.

by jj300daysgrace on Jan 26, 2009 5:08 PM EST up reply actions

seems a little too small to me

this is how i know to stop reading your comments. the 2 best safeties in the game are under 5’10.. demps is 5’11…

also, Demps is almost the exact height and weight of Brian Dawkins… small huh?

wow is this a joke ?

Sanchez going before Stafford … his own coach who everyone respects even said he wasn’t ready for the pros.

And we are going to take a safety with our first pick … try again please. Not trying to be a dick but this makes no sense it’s not even our biggest need with the potential of losing both starting tackles our backup RB.

no joke

I just have a feeling that Sanchez will have more potential in the pro game than Stafford will (he is a bigger chance of being a bust). Plus dude, DAWK IS NOT GOING TO BE OUR SAFETY FOREVER. plus I don’t trust Demps as our future

by jj300daysgrace on Jan 26, 2009 5:10 PM EST up reply actions

I think the fact that Pete Carroll came out and said Sanchez is not ready his stock will drop that’s all I’m saying …

And I am aware that Dawk will not be here forever but taking a Safety first doesn’t make sense. Especially after Demps had a decent year and despite what you think he is the heir apparent until other wise stated. Don’t get me wrong I think they should take a safety in the draft because nothing is definite. But in the later rounds and if nothing else he can take Considine off of our roster I just don’t see it as our number 1 priority and therefore our number 1 pick.

Lets be honest

Mock Drafts in January? Please. The top 4 or 5 picks is all anyone knows, after that its a crap shoot, they haven’t even done the combine.. So, all these “experts” throw out needs of a team and make a educated guess on what a team is going to do, which is as good as yours or mine. Then in the middle of February so and so will be moving up the board and so and so will be moving down. See brady quinn. Its all garbage right now, all anyone knows is what their team needs are and that doesnt even include free agency. Ill see you and your mock draft in mid march, thank you.

by Go-Green on Jan 25, 2009 8:16 PM EST reply actions

agreed ... besides we haven't even gone through FA ... that will answer some questions and change team needs.

thats why it’s listed as my pre-free agency draft. I’ll take more information into account once agents are signed and newer injuries are revealed

by jj300daysgrace on Jan 26, 2009 5:12 PM EST up reply actions

i think that it is funny that you think that we will actually use both of those first round picks

by bula412 on Jan 25, 2009 11:25 PM EST reply actions

This may be my sentimentality speaking, but I think we can wait at least one more year to draft Dawk’s replacement…besides, Taylor Mays is staying at USC for one more year, and trust me…he’s the one we want. Anyone see him lay the lumber on that poor bastard from Penn State? He’s 6’3, 230 and runs a 4.2 40. Linebacker size with cornerback speed…now that’s frightening.

maybe they will take Brown and Glew for their first next year. They do love WRs.

I would be interested to see if Mays runs a 4.25 in the Combine. that sounds too fast, I don’t think he does it in a neutral place.

by Clyde Simmons on Jan 26, 2009 12:58 PM EST up reply actions

i was dyin for this guy to come out in the draft this year. most mock drafts i saw had him as a late 1st round pick. next year, this kid will be top 10.

Q Demps is the future at FS… out of all the Dbs in the draft last year he had the most career picks… i live close to training camp so i went a few times this year and he is ALWAYS around the ball and i saw at least 3 or 4 picks the few times i went give him time to learn the system and he will be a beast ..the next ed reed watch in 2 or 3 years mark my words.. you will realize the confidence the FO has in him when we dont pick a safty till the 3rd 4th or 5th round
