Reading all the back and forth about whether or not McNabb will ever get us a SB, I had a thought. Who exactly do we think could take us there? Looking at the QB landscape in the NFL over the past five years, when these questions have been strongest, what QBs have been available in FA or in the draft (where we could have landed them) that would put us in a better position at QB? I see one possibility only. Drew Brees after he left SD. Other than him, I don't think any of these QBs give us a better long term QB (5 years or more) situation than McNabb. Even Brees would have been a stretch given the dynamic nature of the Saints' offense versus our own. Their receivers fit with Brees' style much better. So, I ask, who would that guy have been? Or who would it be now? Who honestly believs Kolb will take us to the playoffs (not might be able to, but will)? I am not asking who is better than McNabb, I am asking who is better and has been or is available?
(Note: In terms of the draft, look at where we drafted versus where a QB was taken. Could we have actually drafted any of the good ones, if you even think better ones were there.)
