Kobe wants to be an Eagles WR

I don't know if any of you have Comcast, but their painfully unfunny sports blogger is fairly Eagles-obsessed (and I assume that's because Comcast has a strangehold on that market).

Anyway, I try not to read his stuff, but sometimes the headlines catch me. Today's had to do with Kobe Bryant making some off-hand remarks about wanting to play wide receiver, and while that guy could probably do anything he set his mind to, I found the most interesting thing to be that he was an Eagles fan and was wearing a McNabb jersey in the photo.

This probably should not surprise me since he grew up in Philly and probably rooted for the Randall-Reggie teams, but we Philadelphia fans have not exactly been kind to the guy ... I'm surprised he associates with anything from our area. :)

we have not been kind esp me ....

because he stated in an interview if he had the chance, if it could magically happen with the snap of his fingers and all of sudden be on the 76ers (the team he loved growing up) instead of the lakers would he ? He replied im not a philly man anymore im a LA lakers man now … i remember that vividly and that is the major reason i dont like him anymore … i loved him because he was a pa/close to phillly/ product but until he said that i lost love for him along with them taking the sixers out in the finals … its not like he said “i would love to play for the sixers its my home team but i have to respect the lakers for having faith in me” … something along those lines i would respect … blatantly saying your not a philly man anymore your la lakers man …. blasphemy !

This is the guy who said:

"I want to rip their hearts out: re: the 2001 Finals and the 3 games in Philly.

And now he’s an Eagles fan? Interesting…

Plus

Apparently he’s a Dodgers fan too. WTF? Why not support the Phils? I don’t get it.

There was a video clip of Kobe talking about this on Mike and Mike this morning

He seemed to sincerely be an Eagles fan in this video clip.

I’m sure the question was prompted mostly by the LeBron Browns
advertisement…

But Kobe seemed like he wished he could help them win.
I doubt if he will be leaving the NBA anytime soon – but he did
seem to sincerely wish he had the opportunity.

I think the Olympic experience this summer has made him somewhat
more sentimental than he may have been in the past. I was very
impressed that he went to the pool and watched Michael Phelps
finish his Olympic quest.

The clip I saw had Kobe talking about what position he would prefer
and why he thought he could play wide receiver. The reporter
followed up with a question about quarterback and he shot something
back about how he wanted to help Donovan – not replace him.

I can’t fault him for how he answered a question about Sixers vs
Lakers. He IS on the Lakers. And as much as I wish the 2001
Sixers team had won the championship, I can’t fault the guy for competing.

"I would be a wide reciever. No more red zone problems" -Kobe

Seems like he watches the games. That being said…

As a Blazer fan I would love to see Kobe play for any team but the Eagles and get shredded by Dawkins.

Wouldn’t you rather see him play for the Eagles and win us some games? :/

It’s not his fault he got drafted by the Lakers.

I cant stand Kobe

Kobe is a selfish cry baby who would pull a TO if he were here, look what he did to Shaq. I want Shaq at TE DT/DE or MLB- that would be sick
