Could Tom Heckert be on the move?
Tom Heckert's name came up in two stories about various openings around the NFL this week.
First, it was reported that Heckert wants "no part" of a position with the Detroit Lions.
According to a league source, Eagles general manager Tom Heckert wants "no part'' of the Lions assistant general manager position. Heckert, who has been rumored to be leaving the Eagles organization for the last couple of years, would want more influence in personnel matters and it's clear that GM Martin Mayhew will be running the show in Detroit.
The second is the GM opening with the Denver Broncos. The Broncos are interested in former Eagles' LB coach and current Giants' D coordinator, Steve Spagnulo and at last one report has suggested they may be interested in bringing in Heckert and Spagnulo as a "package deal."
The Broncos entered the picture yesterday after firing Mike Shanahan on Tuesday. Like the Browns, the Broncos also are in the market for a general manager. They could be interested in a package deal that includes Spagnuolo and Eagles GM Tom Heckert, according to a league source. The Browns reportedly have made Patriots vice president Scott Pioli their top candidate for general manager.
Spagnuolo and Heckert spent six seasons together in Philadelphia. Heckert has been a candidate for general manager jobs the last few years and acts primarily as an adviser to Eagles coach Andy Reid, who has final say on personnel decisions.

this wouldnt bother me!
If you can't sell out a playoff game, should you lose the right to have a home game?
Really ... it would bother me.
Heckert and Andy work well together. If the Eagles had to bring in a new GM Andy would have to trust him or take over most of the stuff he has let Heckert handle.
It’s obviously a testament to what Heckert really does for the Eagles if teams are trying to steal him, and have been for the past few years. It’s been my experience that people don’t offer jobs to puppets, and I know a lot of people think that is all Heckert is but I don’t buy it.

The Spag deal to Denver makes a great deal of sense to me. In fact this article in the Denver Post makes a compelling case on the basis of personal ideology, but furthermore I think that the Broncos have the type of players ideally suited to play in JJ’s scheme…
If he ended up in Denver, I might have to start paying attention to the Broncos again…
This is so hard to figure out...
…we don’t know who are “Andy” picks and who are “Tom” picks, right? Good point Whodie that people are still interested in him and that must mean something.
I for one dont want heckert !
I live here and saw and listened to 610 wip radio fans grill this guy and want to run him out of town.
I saw the last 10 years of drafting .Never was impressed .
I will be disapointed if he landed up in denver.

The Eagles have drafted more pro bowlers over the last 10 years than any other team.
That said, Heckert’s first draft was 2005. He’s not been here for 10 years.
Who said they were true pro bowlers anyway
The way the pro bowl voting goes is pretty dumb A person could sit there at a computer all
day and cast thousands of votes for one player ! To me that is a faulty system that is just
plane stupid . Do you really think the NY jets deserve 8 pro bowl players this year !
If that team had that many great players they would have probably have made the playoffs.
I did not claim heckert was in philly for 10 years ! reguardless who was here i said
that i saw the last 10 years of drafting . anyway I said 10 but i saw all the eagles drafts .
GOOD luck in the playoffs .
