Around SBN: Steve McNair Found Shot to Death

Andy

Bill Simmons has summed up Andy flaws very nicely today.

"Philly's Andy Reid will be battling former assistant Brad Childress on Sunday in a matchup Peter King described as "teacher vs. pupil." Teacher vs. pupil???? That explains everything! Do you think Reid tutored Childress in classes like "Screwing up a Two-Minute Drill," "Hanging Your QB Out to Dry," "Dumb and Possibly Damaging Field Goal Attempts," "Idiotic Short-Yardage Calls," "Special Teams Collapses," "How To Blow Your Challenges," "Leaving Yourself With No Timeouts" and "How To Remain Calm As You're Getting Booed By Your Own Fans"?"

I'm glad someone outside of Philadelphia sees these problems. I still think Andy has got to go. I dont think we will ever win a Super Bowl with him at the helm. Who knows though, we never thought the Phillies could win with Charles F. Manuel either.

If you can't sell out a playoff game, should you lose the right to have a home game?

An Andy supporter...

I could easily give you all of the numbers as to why I am a big Andy supporter and fan. Things like the sheet number of wins, average wins per season, postseason trips, superbowl appearance, and the like. But I like Any Reid mostly because he’s the best coach we’ve had in the modern NFL era (since the Superbowl) and it’s not really that close. He’s consistently produced top tier teams and turned the Eagles from an also-ran into a team whose only crime is to not live up to the sky-high expectations it inspires every year.

Who could the Eagles get better than Andy? Billick is not available. Cowher might be gotten for a lot of $$$, but you’ll have to be patient with him, too. It took him a few years to win the big one at Pittsburgh. Shanahan? I wouldn’t trade the Eagles over the last 10 years for the Broncos over the same period. And what if we get a stiff? There are a lot more coaches like Norv Turner than Vince Lombardi.

I know all about Reid’s flaws as a coach. Every coach has his blemishes. I’ll stick by Andy, warts and all.

We need Andy

7 playoff apperances out of 9 years.

It’s funny our fans will blame andy on the play calling even though marty has been calling them for quite some time now.

A lot of the times when we have to blow a time out it isn’t his fault. Statistically we have one of the most high scoring 2 minute offenses (according to someone on WIP) in the NFC.

Reid will be back next year and that’s great news.

Yes I was

Last year I REALLY wanted Reid fired. Up until the Ravens game I came to my own conclusions that oru struggles simply weren’t Reid’s fault.

Bill Simmons...

…is a championship douchebag. Too bad he isn’t employed by the Boston Globe because all he does is cover Boston sports teams. Want to read about the 1980s Celtics all day? That’s your man.

I’m happy Bill was able to write something that didn’t include a sports or 80’s movie reference. Ala "Hoosiers" or "sixteen candles"

Starting all over with a new coach

I agree with most people who talk about the problems with Andy, but I just dread starting all over with a new coach… again. It seems like Reid should be able to come around if somebody could sit him down and help him get his head on straight. I think the more he knew people were unhappy with him, the worse he got. And then there’s Donovan.

i disagree

hes a good coach and you dont forget to coach over night. The problem was offensive talent and we knew that going into the season. We tried like hell to bring it in through FA and trades but it just wasn’t happening. We could’ve overpaid for Roy Williams like Dal did but that woul djust be stupid……as Dallas found out :)
