DeSean jackson best eagles rookie wr since 1942

Jackson ends his rookie season with 62 passes for 912 yards during the regular season to become the first Eagles rookie receiver to lead the team in catches and receiving yards since Fred Meyer in 1942. He also was a big contributor on punt returns. , Jackson averaged 14.7 yards per catch, and approaching 1,000 receiving yards is impressive for a rookie wide receiver.

Jackson also became only the second player in NFL history to begin his career with back-to-back 100-yard receiving games, joining former Eagles rookie Don Looney in 1940.

"He has made a lot of big plays for us, a lot of yards for us," Westbrook said. "Now, he needs to know that the level of play and the level of competition is going to step up dramatically for this next playoff game and the one after that, as well. He has to stay on task and stay focused throughout the whole week and go into the game and give everything he has."

The Eagles try to get the ball in Jackson's hands in multiple ways. In addition to his 62 catches, he had 17 carries, 50 punt returns and even attempted one pass,

"I think they find a certain amount of touches for him a game," Childress said. "They're going to try to get the ball in his hands, whether they hand it to him, toss it to him or throw it to him. He can change the field in a hurry."

Particularly on special teams. The Vikings gave up four punt returns for touchdowns this season. Jackson had a 68-yard punt return for a touchdown and had two returns of 40-plus yards this season.

"He's definitely an explosive player," said special-teams player Vinny Ciurciu. "We'll have our hands full trying to contain him and stop him. He's a small guy, but he has a ton of speed and quickness. Definitely poses a challenge for us."

He has a very bright future ahead of him- GO EAGLES

He's got a bright future

But I want to see our NFL Draft day thread and see what people thought at the time…

haha don't look at my posts.

I was a Malcolm Kelly flag holder … I’m really glad D-Jack proved me wrong. Here’s to hoping he rubs it in.

I'm proud to say

that while i’ve gotten a lot of drafts wrong, this was one time that I desperately wanted the Eagles to draft someone… then they did… and i was right

That probably makes me a collective 4 for 52 or something :)

If you can't sell out a playoff game, should you lose the right to have a home game?

I personally didn't want him at first

I thought he was too small and was going to get bullied by NFL corners.

But after I did some more research on him I became intrigued and I was very happy about his punt return abilities. He exceeded my expectations.

i was hoping for Limas Sweed. He has Plaxico’s size and i thought that would give us great help in the red zone. Luckly, Hank is doing a fine job on the fade pattern and we got a speedster in DeSean

Who wants to play Leapfrog with Trent?

yeah but

the first time it was perfect, the second time, it was a slightly underthrown ball. If Donny had put that a little higher, 6 pts on the board. It is working fairly well for us.

and one to Kevin Curtis ...

so Baskett and Curtis both have a fade catch so I question this.
