Who needs a go-to receiver?
Article on nfl.com -
McNabb made it to the only Super Bowl of his 10-year career with T.O. in the 2004 season -- the QB also had his best year in terms of touchdown passes (31) and passer rating (104.7) -- but the drama that came with Owens resulted in his departure from the team and the Eagles' return to a receiver-by-committee approach.
It's not as if Philadelphia hasn't tried to find McNabb a Randy Moss or even a Wes Welker-type of receiver: Reggie Brown, Kevin Curtis and now DeSean Jackson all have been brought in to be breakthrough pass-catching threats. None has emerged, although Jackson isn't far off. The Eagles seem no worse for wear, though.

A real game-breaking wide receiver would be nice, but my pet theory is that the Eagles’ offense has suffered as much from Chad Lewis’ absence as from Owens’. A big, reliable pass-catcher as an outlet is a critical complement to a downfield threat such as Jackson.
Early returns look like Brent Celek may be able to fill that role much more effectively than LJ Smith.

P.S.
I think Chad Lewis now is probably still better than LJ.

It's a good point though
Chad Lewis could hop on his one good foot to the first down marker and at least catch the damn ball.

Yeah
When our WRs are not getting separation, there is no tight end security blanket for McNabb. Celek looks like he could be a stud, but we’ll see (I know Whodie, I know…) A Kellen Winslow or Tony Gonzalez would look good in Eagles green next year…

LJ
He’s always hurt. He can’t block. He runs awful routes. He makes me scream “TUCK THE FOOTBALL!!!” every time he touches the ball.
Celek looks like Keith Jackson next to him.

You’re giving LJ a pass because of injuries but bash Celek for drops? Was one of LJ’s injuries to his hands?
