How are you celebrating?

Alg_philliefan_medium

I was contacted by a reporter from the local CW news and she is looking for Eagles fans to share their stories about how they are celebrating this Eagles run.

Do you have a particularly impressive playoff beard?

Are you heading to Arizona?

Have you painted your house Eagles green?

Share your story and who knows... maybe you'll be on the news!

i havent shaved since the cowboys game

and i have this football that i was holding/tossing around to my self during the cowboys game… it was a ball that i had as a kid and i had just brought it home from my parents after christmas.

Since it was the first time i watched a game with the football, it’s become lucky.

I’ve sharpie’d the scores and dates of every Eagles game since then… including the TB and OAK losses

Do you have a particularly impressive playoff beard?

I wouldn’t call it impressive but I am growing my playoff beard since the Cowboys victory. Shame my facial hair grows in as a cross between Joe Dirt and Grizzly Adams. and by that I mean patchy but nice and beautiful in areas. Needless to say my girlfriend is hating this plus I haven’t gotten a haircut since the Giants game (the win) and people are beginning to notice.

Are you heading to Arizona?

No I wsih, but no.

Have you painted your house Eagles green?

No but I’m considering it now

I’ll tell you how I celebrated the win against the Giants. By screaming at thousands of Giants fans as the exited the stadium in East Rutherford. As some may already know I was in VT and drove through Jersey at the perfect time. Got my Jersey stolen while in VT and this was the best form of redemption not only the victory but being able to immediately rub it in to massive amounts of Giants fans was the best form of celebrating ever.

I’ve got a playoff beard. I stopped shaving after the Dallas game. I did have to shave last Tuesday for client meeting, but immediately started growing it back.

I’ve got a couple superstitions I’m rockin’ right now. Forgive my rambling backstories.

Usually I just drink lager when I watch the Birds. You know, drink PA beer while watching a PA team. But, my mother-in-law always gets me a couple fancy brews for Christmas (which I’ve tried to reinforce as being my favorite gifts because I don’t really need to accumalate more “stuff” and the clothes she buys me usually don’t fit and I work from home so most of the time I just wear gym clothes anyway).

But, I digress. I’ve been trying to drink through some of my stockpile of fancy beers. For the Vikings game, we drank a bottle of “Left Hand Winter Ale”. They won, so I cracked open another one for the Giants game. This one was “St. Sylvester’s Flanders Winter Ale” (highly recommended). I think for the Cards game it’s going to be a big bottle of Chimay Blue.

For both games, I’ve drank out of my “lucky mug”, which is just a plain bar mug I stole from the now-defunct Tin Alley Grill in Lindenwold NJ, after watching one of my favorite games of all time there. (The victory over the Giants in Oct 2001, where McNabb hit Thrash in the corner of the end-zone for a 10-9 victory, the first over the G-men in several years. My friends and I each had like 6 or 7 $1 drafts during that game, and so we refer to that game as “The Beericle at the Meadowlands”).

Though the actual luckiness of this mug has been disproven over the next few seasons, but since they won these 2 games while I was drinking it, so perhaps it’s got its mojo back.

I’ve also tried and failed to find a lucky hat. I have like 30-some Eagles hats. The Eagles know that by putting their logo on hats, they have a direct pipeline to my wallet.

I had good luck for the Eagles with the official sideline hat in 2001, and good luck in 2004 with this plain white Eagles-head hat. (My oldest hat, an old-logo one from 1992, seems to bring me good luck, but not so much the Eagles).

But, there’s one hat that’s never seemed particularly lucky, but it’s my favorite, the one I wear almost all the time. I wore that hat for both playoff victories, and so I’ll keep with it as long as it will go.

Likewise, I’m sticking with my green Westbrook replica jersey. For most games this year, I’ve worn my “replithentic” Dawkins jersey. But, it’s nicer than my others and I was on my way back from volunteering at the local animal shelter right before the Vikings game and I was feeling a little scuzzy, so I just put on the Westbrook jersey. Victory ensued, and I repeated the wardrobe for the Giants.

One thing I’m debating is “do I pre-order conference championship stuff?” Normally, I’d think that was a jinx. But…I didn’t pre-order in 2001, 2002, or 2003 and look where that got ’em. So, I pre-ordered championship merch (both NFC and superbowl) in ’04 with mixed results.

My celebrations are pretty low key, since I’ve just been watching the games at home. I was on the phone with a bunch of other Eagles fans at the end of the Giants game, yelling and singing the fight song and stuff.

I wonder if I can bill Jeff Lurie and Peter Angelos for the years of therapy their teams are going to put me through.

Not Watching The Game

Just found out today that I have to go down to DC for the inauguration. I leave on Saturday and won’t get back until next Saturday. I’m hoping that DVR and text message updates will suffice.

utah is so close to arizona

So i live in utah and i am celebrating by whering eagles clothing every day.(sence vikings game) the funny thing is i havent had to wash my stuff yet cuz i have so much that i have aquired over the years. one of the best things about this thought is seeing all the dallas fans in utah cringe as they look at me. i would go to the game but i have to work saturday. so i am watching the game.

Ive been making sure that I wear the same clothing every gameday since Dec. 28th (the cowboys game/day everything went right)

Since my parents are divorced and i’m still in highschool and switch houses every week, I have to bring it with me each friday haha. But my green mcnabb jersey (Eagles are undefeated with me wearing it), boxers, gold/black gym shorts (good thing saints arent in the playoffs), green eagles hat, and eagles jacket.

they have only been worn on gameday.

Ive been trying to do my own version of my playoff beard, but since my work doesnt allow facial hair, What ive done is shave on sunday night after the game, and then not shave until after the next game, as i only work mon-fri, that way im at least grissly on gameday…

I have been thinking about getting number 20 (obviously dawkins) jersey number style tatted on my entire back. If the Eagles win the Lombardi i will get it 100% sure. If not ill have to still think about it, seeing as how its a pricey lifelong investment.

Pricey

can’t you just go into Jacksonville and flash the marine card … but seriously i’ve thought about this too but 20 wasn’t my number so I am conflicted I was 21 so it looks like Hanson better step up his game.

that would be so kickass

if you do get that please put a pic up on BGN that will be epic

by Manoovi on Jan 14, 2009 9:26 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

im about 75%

i am almost sure i will do it either way , with philly sports in the background of 20 , ie phillies 80,2008 … i was thinking of doing like from left to right interval throwing (if you know what i mean) jaws cocking back randal right next to jaws half cocked and then mcnabb right next to randal throwing a bomb and lots more … so many ideas … either way would be sick …. ………………. lets put it this way …. if i go through with it … it will be the sickest philly sports tribute in history (tattoo wise) i know that means picking expensive quality artist but its forever and i will make sure every penny is worth it ….

and getting the number 20 just doesnt mean dawkins to me … thats what people might see but the number 20 means so much more to me … hes a role model … a religious man , an honest man … a TOUGH MAN … there is a million reasons why i could explain why i would tattoo 20 on my back , but im sure i dont have to mention them because you like i already know how much brian means to us as a person …

If football had a church, Brian Dawkins would be my preacher !

Man, that will be one hell of a tattoo and you have to post pics if you get it. (You could probably get that up on the Eagles’ website, too).

I’ve been debating on and off with myself about just getting an Eagle head on my shoulder. But then I’m like “No, you don’t have any and you’re too old and boring for it to be cool to start now.”

I think it’s just my subconscious saying “Keep those needles awaaaaaaaaaaaay from me!”

I wonder if I can bill Jeff Lurie and Peter Angelos for the years of therapy their teams are going to put me through.

I happen to be a tattoo fan and have a full sleeve.

I want to do a sock of all Philly sports … except the flyers …

i love needles....

im in the marines so they give us vaccinations all the time like its cool … im sure ill suffer later from experimentation but whatever … gotta die some day … im serious though … i mean im thinking about it real hard … and the only reason im thinking about it is because it would be so spiritual if i got it after we won our first super bowl … it would mean so much more to get it then , then later ya know ? im bound to do it whenever and i know either way it will be a financial expense …. it will just be so much better in the spirit of the mood to outweigh the expense ya know ?

So is that you in the picture Jason?

Or is that Joe D? Sorry just had to get my shots in since Eagle’s fans can’t stop talking about the Cowboys. Good luck against the Cardinals.

I live in Phoenix

So I make it a point to wear my Cunningham throwback jersey (wore it for the Dallas game so it’s my good luck jersey) in public whenever I’m not working. Walmart is great for getting dirty looks and nasty comments! If I see a guy wearing Cardinal stuff, I’ll just look at him and wait to see the light come on!

I also called the local radio station to talk smack on Tuesday. The hosts (Gambo & Ash) got really pissed at me and called me a few names- it was pretty funny! They even took my cell phone number and said they’re going to call me on Monday, win or lose. It should be fun.

The greatest thing is that Gambo is a diehard Giants fan and Ash is a diehard Cardinal fan, so I got a two-fer!

im in italy

in the air force and its a 6 hour time difference so watching the eagles games this year was sometimes tough but iv been able to watch everyone thats been aired so far. even if they are playing monday night and then game isnt on till 230 in the morning and i have to be at work by 630.

i also have been growing the nastiest looking mustache anyone has ever grew since the day before the wednesday before the cowboys game. it looks horrible. And the only people in the airforce that grow mustaches are senior leadership or cops (haha take that barry) i get crap from my wife, my friends, my coworkers (by far the worst of them all) i even get crap from people i dont know. they just give me an odd look and a shake of the head. people keep asking me why and i just tell them its my playoff stach’.

the best part of it all is i watched the giants eagles game last week with a good buddy of mine who unfortunately is a giants fan. we had a bet if the giants won id wear a giants jersey for the next game and if the eagles won he had to grow a stach for a week. his looks almost as bad as mine. i also just made a bet with a cardinals fan too. same deal. his should look even worse.

if the eagles win the superbowl im shaving the hitler stach for a week.

I’m not to sure how P.C.
