Everybody Loves the Eagles
Granted this happens when you win, but suddenly everybody loves the Eagles.
The Birds have experienced enough downs this year that they know, as do we the fans, not to get ahead of ourselves or caught up in it. This team is special, but it hasn't won anything yet.
Perhaps it's the personalities, the compelling stories or their play, but put up against the oh-so-blah Ravens and Steelers, and the Cardinals, a team from which a lot of fans probably can't name a defensive player (Rod Hood, anyone?), and I can see why the Eagles are the talk of the final four.
I was driving in to work today (in D.C.), and the local sports radio guys were talking about how the Eagles find gems like DeSean Jackson, Stewart Bradley and Chris Gocong outside the first round. Then they were making fun of the Redskins for passing twice on DeSean and trading away their third-round picks every year. (in deals for Brandon Lloyd, T.J. Duckett and Jason Taylor, etc.)
Then, discussing the same trade that got panned heavily on draft day, the Birds moving out of the first round, trading back to pick up Jackson (or Laws?), an extra pick and Carolina's first-rounder this year, and the guys are calling that the key to building a franchise.
I happen to agree, but it's funny how much more love all the Eagles moves and decisions get when you win a couple playoff games.
Anyone else seeing examples of gratuitous Eagles love all of a sudden?

(I actually don’t listen to sports radio much or sweat ESPN like this, I promise)
Google News: 3,402 articles on the Eagles today.
If you think it’s bad now, imagine what it’ll be like to bask in it for 2 weeks prior to the SB.
Another move that might look great in three weeks, but was heavily criticized earlier?
Not putting the Big Kid on IR.

If the big kid could play this week that would be so huge. I think the Cards have a smallish D-line, and the big kid plays low to the ground and can really push people around. I would love to run the ball all day on the Cards and keep their O off the field.

i don’t think he’s in any shape to play this week… i don’t think i want him trying… i think that if we beat the cards, there’s a chance we see him in the SB…. maybe…

How about Karlos Dansby, Travis LaBoy, Adrian Wilson, Antrel Rolle, and The Rook Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. The Cards defense is nothing to laugh at they were constantly put in short fields by offensive turnovers and on the field a lot because their offense either scores quickly or is off the field quick. In their last 2 games (playoff games) the D has 7 INTs, 2 FF, and 1 TD.

Played well in the playoffs but
They have given up over 400 points in the regular season and been blown out of at least 3 games.
tied for the second most takeaways in the NFC
and 4th most in the NFL the D is there but when your Offense coughs it up 30 times you are going to battling horrible field position and be on the field A LOT. All I’m saying is that they are a formidable defense whose offense often shoots them in the foot … similar to the Eagles.
They were blown out by the Jets were Warner had 3 INTs and 4 fumbles (3 lost) and another by Boldin … that is not going to get your pumped. We blew them out but caused 3 INTs and 3 FF 1 lost. And NE blew them out in a blizzard game.
All I’m saying is there defense is not as bad as there record says there offense put them in some pretty shitty situations. You don’t get 30 takeaways on the year by having a sub par Defense.
"I need to do a better job of putting players in the right position to perennially come up short of expectations"
Yeah, I can name most of their defense. I’m assuming most of the posters here actually watch football and can do so as well.
Was referring to the semi-casual fans out there. I guarantee there are reporters writing articles about this game who don’t know who Rod Hood or Bertrand Berry or Chike Okafor are.
As we know from watching the Eagles’ D, just because you don’t have a lot of household names does not mean your D is weak.
Its fu nny how everyone is
calling the eagles FO great too….. Everyone was talking about getting a new GM, getting someone else to draft players, etc… I think the way we acquire players and dont over pay in FA is the reason why we’re consistent. Yes, Andy has missed a few recently but he’s also found gems like Jackson and Bradley.
