Cards
Ok..I think it's time we start focusing on Arizona because (I may be in the minority here) I believe there is no way you can sleep on the Cardinals. They have the ability to put up points against any team and in convincing fashion. I really hope the Eagles stay focused for this one.
So with that, what do you think needs to be done to come out with a win against this team? Defensively, I believe we have to keep the rush on Warner and make sure our secondary is on its toes. The one advantage I think we finally have here is that we're playing a team that doesn't have nearly as effective a run game than that of the Vikings or Giants. The Cards lost their starting TE last game, which was a vital part to what success they were having with the run.
Offensively, we need to continue to stay commited to the run. Its also important we continue to protect McNabb, give different looks with Westbrook, and pick apart D's by spreading the ball around to mulitiple receivers.
Overall, I believe this a game where its more of a matter of beating ourselves. My primary concern is whether our not the Eagles will be able to bring the same intensity to Arizona as they did with New York.
Also, feel free to lay down your predicted outcomes for the game.

my biggest concern is that our secondary struggles against big physical wide recievers (think burress all these years). sheldon brown isnt the tallest guy and he often gets stuck covering those guys one on one. If the eagles are unsuccesful with the blitz we could get into some trouble. that being said I have the utmost confidence in our defense to shut down the arizona offense. weve played kurt warner plenty of times we know how to beat him. one of my favorite things about kurt warner is that when he gets sacked their seems to be a 50% chance the ball is coming loose. even on those great Rams teams their achilles heel was turnovers. it looks like Bolden is doubtful for this one too which should make life a little easier.
their defense isnt spectacular but they have a ton of confidence after Jake delhomme did his best Tony Romo impression and self destructed on saturday. if we come out flat on offense theyll only gain confidence. if we come out and put some points on the bored early we might be able to ge their defense back on their heels.
early in the week it seems like arizona is celebrating as if they have already accomplished their goal. theyve won a few playoff games and now their hosting a big one. meanwhile the eagles have appeared calm and focused as the job is far from over. i know that no one truly knows the mood in the arizona locker room and come sunday all that stuff really doesnt mean much, however atleast the eagles appear to have the right mentality.
the eagles appear to be the better team but the cardinals have the home field and the underdog intangibles. we should win this one, but we gotta come to play.
if boldin and fitz are both playing
then I think we need to see some of Lito Sheppard.
He has always been great at stopping a team’s #1 target, and I think he should get some time against either Fitz or Boldin with Asante covering the other
obviously, JJ knows what is best and if he goes with Sheldon then he knows what he’s doing… I am just worried about Sheldon Brown’s height disadvantage if he gets matched up on Fitz >.<
I saw this on ESPN.com and it seemed pretty interesting…
“Philadelphia cornerbacks Sheldon Brown and Asante Samuel relish taking receivers out of their comfort zones with aggressive tactics. Brian Dawkins is one of the most intimidating safeties in the game. Receivers tend to hear his footsteps, leading to lapses in concentration.”
"Philly is a hot team now and they are playing well on defense, Donovan has managed the game well and I don't think there is any team out there ... I think they beat the only team out there that had a chance to beat them, and I don't think there is anybody out there that is going to beat them. I'm on their bandwagon and I'm picking Philly to win the whole thing." - Giants RB Brandon Jabobs

sheldon brown
cmon yall trust yo boy sheldon can handle his own . thats one thing he can do well is get physical with the big wrs on the line and another thing relax we have THE REAL JIMMY JOHNSON . i love how he schemes and takes way wat a team does .
the cardinals want to run a defense exactly like ours .. can u believe that>>>>denni green was on the radio today and said they tryed to build a defense like the eagles and be able to get after qbs and show all kinda crazy looks lololololol if u see the cards that defense looks nothing like wat jimmie does ….also like already stated we have to get prssure and BGN we all know nobody has stopped our pass rush all year and warner will give it up.
MCNABB and WESTBROOK no matter wat they say wat donovan and brian did to them on thanksgiving night they better be preying that was just a bad showing because if mcnabb comes out like that again will be partying sunday eve
eagles baby
something to take into account
i think leadership will be an important factor in who wins the game not only leadership but players who have played in championship games in the past.
AZ has warner who has been to 2 superbowls won 1, and Edgerrian james who i believe has played in at least 1 afc championship with the colts. other then that i cant think of anyone on that team who has any experience in a game of this magnitude.
we on the other hand had guys like:
brian dawkins-4 nfc championships 1 superbowl, and has made it his duty to keep this team motivated on all 3 phases of the game
donovan mcnabb- again has played in 4 nfc championshis and 1 superbowl
tra thomas- same as the two above
john runyan- has played in 4 nfc championships 1 afc championship and 2 superbowls
asante samuel- has played in 4afc championships and 3 superbowls winning 2 rings
dan kleco who has played in 3 afc championship games anf won 3 superbowls
and guys like sheldon brown, lito sheppard, quintin mikell, lj smith, brian westbrook, correll buckhalter, and david akers who have played in our superbowl lose and but to at least a couple of nfc championship with us.
im not saying we will win but its helps to have this experience to help keep our young guys focused and not to get over excited about this. where as some guys on the cards might try to hard to make a big play which could cost them big time
Crazy...
The Cards lost their starting TE last game, which was a vital part to what success they were having with the run.
That starting TE is our old friend Stephen Spach. Who knew he was so important in their run-blocking?
