McNabbs interview with Deion
Can anyone post McNabbs interview with Deion. Someone at work tried telling me Donavon said he wants out of Philly. I tried to do a google, but couldn't find it in writing, and watching movies at work is def a no - no. Posting on BGN at least sounds like I am doing work.

McNabb was on NFL network
and the whole thing was just a big joke. Everyone was just laughing and joking around. Deion has been saying for weeks that he thinks McNabb wants to leave. Rich Eisen said he was putting words in his mouth… McNabb just laughed about the whole thing. It really didn’t seem like a big deal to me.

Get Real
Do u really think what Deion said didnt come from McNabb himself. He just let that clown do his dirty work for him thats all.. He could have put and end to it by telling Deion to mind his own business or better yet he shouldnt have gone on with the idiot at all.

what would make you happier?
mcnabb leaving philly after an eagles loss in the NFC championship game/super bowl or the eagles winning the super bowl? Based on your comments, I’m guessing the former.

Jamie Dukes
Even after the win yesterday Jamie Dukes is saying McNabb wants out. He is adamant that McNabb will accept nothing less than a trade or his release.
Like the rest of you, I think and hope he is completely full of crap but his routine is getting pretty old.

I saw the interview ...
Donovan was laughing it off, but he told Deion something like “Keep saying what you are saying … I’m having fun” when asked what he thought of all the stuff Deion has been saying.
The context was Deion saying that Donovan wanted out of Philly. Also something was said about Donovan’s mom, and Deion said he wished he put a microphone in front of her to see what she thought (implying she would STRONGLY agree with Deion). Donovan laughed and said “that’s not going to happen”
As a big McNabb defender and supporter, it was disconcerting for me to watch. I can only think of a few explanations for what he meant:
(1) He does want out, and is using Deion as his mouthpiece.
(2) He doesn’t, but he is enjoying all the talk and controversy that is arising.
(3) It is all a joke about things over protective Momma McNabb has said.
(4) He is trying to gain leverage against the Eagles to get them to give him a new contract.
My worry is that McNabb and Deion are trying to do what TO and Irvin were doing — try to orchestrate things so McNabb is set free and sign with another team (e.g. Bears). In that case, his comments about wanting a new contract could be an attempt to get the front office to start thinking about letting him go. I think this is possibly what is going on, but I really don’t think so.
One thing that seemed clear from the context that Deion and McNabb have talked about stuff that the rest of us (the listeners and other NFL network talking heads) were not privy to, so there is something there.
It is possible he is trying to try to gain some leverage to force the Eagles to rip up his current contract and give him a new one so he has more security. The current contract is essentially year-to-year, and if he gets injured or becomes ineffective, they can drop him pretty quickly with no negative cap consequences. A new signing bonus would give him a chunk of new money but, more importantly, a cap cost that would provide insurance that the Eagles won’t drop him.
I guess the best solution to all of this, should it be something, is just to win the Superbowl, and give McNabb a new contract that runs for the next 4-5 years, and let him retire an Eagle.

I watched the same segment, and I agree with your post almost 100%. You have it covered from all angles and well reasoned out.
The one place where I differ is that no matter what it is McNabb wants, Lurie-Banner-Heckert-Reid are not stupid, no way they are letting him play for any other team next year. If worse comes to worst, they’ll bite the bullet and rework his deal.
If he had kept playing the way he did against the Bengals and Ravens, maybe they was a chance they would have dealt him while they could still get something for him, but I think this six-game run, even if it ends against the Cardinals, has 1) proven McNabb can still play and is the Eagles best shot by far to win a Super Bowl, and 2) has been such a huge PR boost that not making sure McNabb retires an Eagle would be as big a hit as this franchise could possibly take.
In other words, Eagles’ management holds all the cards here, and I am very comfortable with that. They have famously let go players who are getting up there and have run their courses, but they have also re-upped with guys like Dawkins and Runyan, who could still play, and they publically said they’d give Westbrook a new deal last year before it became at all contentious.
I’m confident that the Eagles will not consider letting him go and would be amenable to a new deal after this run is over, ESPECIALLY if it results in the Super Bowl win we all hope it does.

Deion and Jamie Dukes aren't talented
they’re only relevance in the broadcast media world is that they were former players (albeit one who no one ever heard of)
and the only way we talk about deion is if we think he talks to the players, text messages them because he’s on the ‘inside’ -
but you know what’s wrong with that equation? no one cares.
deion thinks he’s “on the inside” because he’s “speaking for mcnabb.” he’s not.
he has no credibility, whatsoever, And dukes thinks he knows everything. which he doesn’t.
what team did he play for?
every week, he’s talking about mcnabb to chicago – because for some IDIOTIC reason that happens, he can say “I told you so” – but it won’t and he will continue to be a speculating FOOL.

mcnabb aint going along with it....
he’s doing what he’s always done…having fun and smiling the whole way….
that makes media snarks and some fans uncomfortable, but that’s the way it is. mcnabb is not you.
what do you want him to do while they’re on the air?
Donovan: “deion, i’d feel more comfortable if you stop speaking for me”
Deion: “sure”
hahaha stop! mcnabb know’s it’s all BS, and he’s not even going to dignify any of it. So he does what he’s always done: laughs it off. He knows deion is just doing his job with all the speculation….
blah blah blah

Deion Sanders
Deion was doing some motivational speaking in Sacramento on Jan 11, 2009. He was talking to the Sacramento Job Corps.
There is a local sports talk radio host named Grant Napear. He is on KHTK. and he thinks D. McNabb is the most overrated football player to play the game. I hope the Eagles can make it to the Superbowl.
