Not at all

Because all 3 don’t have very much offense.

Question

So how the hell did the Cardinals get here?

by ajay on Jan 12, 2009 1:38 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I think the entire NFL is trying to figure that out…

I get to listen to 6 days of Cardinal Homer-isms on local radio

You’d think that Warner was the Pope, and Fitzgerald was the second coming of Jerrylynn Riceswann!

they played in the worst division in football… and were 9-7 for the year… they were only 3-7 outside their division. so they played in a horrid division an took advantage which allowed them to make the playoffs… they played their best football of the year these past two weeks. once you get into the playoffs, anything can happen man.

i’m not discounting them or looking past them, but it is the truth… it’s just as true as it took a minor miracle for us to make the playoffs, and look what happened after that…

Look at there Defense. I think the Cards defense is a little underrated.

Against the Falcons they had 2 picks and a fumble return for a TD and held Turner to 42 yards rushing.

Against the Panthers they had 5 picks and a fumble recovery and held Williams to 63 yards rushing.

i am actually more afriad of the Cards then the Vikings or the Giants. Maybe it was because we already beat the Vikings or the Giants. Please tell me we are the underdogs. The freaky thing is that the Cards have made an improbable run

true Whodie

but it seems ages ago when we beat the cards. They seem like a different team now.

Cardinals not magic

Their defense gets lots of turnovers.

by DownHillBradley on Jan 12, 2009 1:44 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

let’s put it in context though… their offense coughs up the ball just as much… the were neutral in turnover differential this year.

Agreed

It is no secret the only reason they made the playoffs was their incredibly weak division. However, as we all know the regular season doesn’t matter anymore. In the playoffs their defense has 7 int, 3 forced fumbles, and 2 recovered. They are +7 in the last two games. That being said McNabb is neither a rookie QB or Jake (five interceptions) Delhomme, so I don’t see the Cards continuing on to the SB.

by DownHillBradley on Jan 12, 2009 2:25 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I enjoy the confidence fellas...

That’s how we went into the last two games and popped them in the mouth. Keep up the good work, just gives them more motivation!

Oh, and uh, Warner is the second coming of Christ not the Pope, and Fitz, barring any serious carreer injuries will be up there with the likes of Rice, Swann, Carter and others!

Keep it real…
Go Cards!!!!

Dude...

I give you much respect for your recent play. And you’ve shown that you’ve earned your way into the playoffs with the last two wins…but seriously, the last two teams that you played rarely blitzed and brought no pressure to warner leaving him to sit back and pick apart their secondary. You’re going to be going against the same defense you faced before and will be blitzing 40+% of the time bringing pressure from all angles. Without time warner becomes mediocre, and all those deep routes become moot.

I’m not saying that the cardinals can’t win this game, I’m not saying that they’re anything but a great team, with an excellent qb with an exceptional receiving core. But the Cards struggle with pressuring, blitzing defenses. Again, Carolina and Atlanta were 10th and 23rd respectively. The Eagles are 3rd.

Like I said, I know that the Cardinals could win this game. But I think that the Eagles will bring more pressure and will be able to eat the clock with long drives keeping the cardinals off the field which should aid in keeping the scoring in check. But I don’t think the Eagles will have trouble moving the ball and as long as the don’t look beyond this game and do their job, they’ll pull out a win.

As a side note..

You are talking about a game on the East Coast, on a short week, not in a dome where Warner plays best, at a point in the season where winning meant nothing. I think you guys got a great team and can contend with the rest of em but listen to what you are saying. You guys are on the road this time, in a sold out game full of Cards fans, and the Cards will have an extra day of rest. This game will look nothing like the last game.

by Andrew602 on Jan 12, 2009 5:45 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Im pretty sure we were on the road, in a dome full of Vikings fans 2 games ago? Whats the difference besides the extra day of rest? Giants had a extra week of rest and you saw how played out?

by midnitegreen on Jan 12, 2009 6:18 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Okay I wasn't directing that at the Eagles obviously..

If you look at what I said “not in a dome where Warner plays best”, means that the last meeting was……not in a dome where Warner plays best. Anybody who knows Warner knows that. And the extra day of rest is….once again directed towards the Cardinals as it benefits them, compared to a short week playing on a Thursday. And besides that, the Vikings aren’t even close to being similar to the Cardinals. Anybody who knows about the NFL knows all teams are different. Anyway, the main point is that the last meeting between us is completely different then now.

by Andrew602 on Jan 12, 2009 8:45 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

The short week means nothing. Both teams were on a short week, so it’s no excuse. It didn’t benefit anyone.

by JasonB on Jan 13, 2009 10:16 AM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

What??

The short week def effected the Cards back on Thanksgiving. What are you talking about?

by Andrew602 on Jan 13, 2009 12:47 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

you are aware that there is only a difference of about 3 hours between

the Eagles rest and the Cards rest. Both played on the Sunday before Eagles at 1 and Cards at 4. And the Eagles were in Baltimore and the Cards in NY. If the Cards traveled home and then back to the East Coast well IMO that is idiotic on a short week that you knew about in the beginning of the season. Besides they are PROFESSIONALS when I get a deadline changed on me I don’t complain I get it done.

The NY game was in AZ actually..

Regardless, the team hadnt played great on the East Coast all season and making the week short didnt help.

oh my bad ...

my point is we had a short week too.

Who wants to play Leapfrog with Trent?

by anuj on Jan 12, 2009 7:10 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Nope

Maybe the Cards Fans equivalent of me though.

Like a Doppelganger or something.

The results on Sunday will speak for themselves. The Cardinals will not defeate the Eagles in the desert unless they resign Jake the Snake.

Everything other than homefield, which is worth 3 points, was working against the Eagles on Thanksgiving too, plus some more. Eagles were coming off a Sunday game which they lost, had a QB controversy brewing, and a defense which had just been humiliated by a rookie QB.

OTOH, the Cardinals were beaten by 4 touchdowns by the Eagles in the head to head matchup, so it wasn’t exactly close, McNabb and his receivers practice in Arizona every offseason and McNabb lives there in the offseason, so its kind of a home game for him, and the common schedule record suggest a major Eagles advantage.

Head to Head – advantage Eagles
Eagles 48, Cardinals 20

49ers – advantage Eagles
Eagles @ 40-26
Cardinals 29-24, @ 23-13

Rams – advantage Eagles
Eagles 38-3
Cardinals 34-13, @ 34-10

Seahawks – advantage Eagles
Eagles @ 26-7
Cardinals 34-21, @ 26-20

Falcons – advantage Eagles
Eagles 27-14
Cardinals 30-24

Vikings – advantage Eagles
Eagles 26-14
Falcons 30-24

Giants – advantage Eagles
Eagles 31-37, @ 20-14, @ 23-11
Cardinals 29-37

Redskins – push
Eagles 17-23, @ 3-10
Cardinals @ 17-24

Cowboys – advantage Eagles
Eagles 44-6, @ 37-41
Cardinals 30-24

The Cardinals only hope is if the Eagles offense comes out flat and gives a bunch (3 or more) of interceptions in scoring range and the scores are touchdowns and not field goals. That will happen perhaps 2 Sundays out of 10.

After the beatdown we laid upon the Giants in the cold and wind, I’m sure the Eagles will savor the luxury that is playing in Arizona.

It would be foolish to write that game off as nothing. It takes more than a plane trip to get beat as bad as your team did. If you think that’s all that happened… then you could be in for a rude awakening this SUnday.

Both teams had a short week. It was a primetime game on national TV… if the Cards couldn’t motivate themselves to show up for that game, then that’s a real issue.
