8,000 tix remain for Vikings Eagles playoff game
The Vikings have until tomorrow to sell 8,000 tickets or the playoff game could be blacked out in the Twin Cities.
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP)—Plenty of good seats are still available for Minnesota’s playoff game against Philadelphia.
The Vikings reported 8,000 tickets remaining at noon New Year’s Day for Sunday’s game against the Eagles. The NFL has granted an extension until 3:30 p.m. local time Friday to reach a virtual sellout, but the possibility of a local TV blackout looms.
The blackout would not only encompass the Twin Cities, but secondary markets in the region as well. It includes satellite, cable and over-the-air systems, so nobody in the area could watch the game unless they’re in attendance at the Metrodome.
Vice president of sales and marketing Steve LaCroix said the team has hired extra holiday help to solicit potential buyers. The Vikings haven’t had a game blacked out since 1997.
A blackout in Minnesota would not affect the game being shown anywhere else in the country.

complete embarassment
It’s not like they have nothing to play for, it’s a god damn playoff game. I have lost a lot respect for viking fans i thought they had a lot of pride.

that is such a joke. Id love to go see the eagles play. I do find it a bit unfair to the viking fans that may not have the money to go to the game but want to watch it on tv. If this happend in philly, there would be riots.

If you can't sell out a playoff game, should you lose the right to have a home game?

Brian Dawkins would buy all the tickets so that Philly would not get blacked out
and then he would give them to the fans (BGNers get first dibs) … at least that’s the story I’m going with.

There is a reason for no sell out
Besides being the biggest chokers in the NFL, thus the name 1998 Vikings who lost to the Falcons in OT, Viking fans are tired of Childress and his smug attitude about he knows everything and everybody else is an idiot. We as fans are sick of his west crawl, I mean coast offense. We all have seen this crap before and people are not going to spend their hard earned money to watch this average team get drilled by a very good Eagles team. Eagle fan if you come to the game on Sunday please take Childress back with you.

Yeah but see this is the difference between a real fan and just someone looking to be entertained
We’d go see the Eagles in 10 degree weather even if they were 3-12

and you have to admit that this is definitely going to affect the team in some way. a damn playoff game not being sold out? you have to know that this is going to affect this team’s motivation and will throughout the week’s preparation.

A Complete Embarrassment
I would expect this kind of thing out in Phoenix maybe but never in Minnesota. Also I could see this happening in the NBA playoffs or maybe the NHL, but never for an NFL playoff game.
This is an indictment of Minneapolis and St. Paul, which from here on out should be considered bad sports cities. Hey Minnesota – Go watch your Golden Gophers.

phew
with the blackout i was wonderin if all over the rest of the country they could get blacked 2, this week in CT we got it on FOX so im excited 2 be able to watch it…but gosh vikings fans you’d think theyd be excited for there team bein in the playoffs for the first time in like a while…..
To me the Eagles are like that girlfriend that pisses u off, then u hate her, but the next morning you wake up and remember that thing u love so much about her

Wow!
You can relax Eagle fan, the game will be sold out and we will get to watch our beloved Vikings. Minnesota is a sports state, except we are not stupid, we know when our team is a fraud. Now if it was the NHL the series would have sold out immediately. And yes, I will watch my Golden Gophers hockey tonight and my Golden Gophers hoops team tomorrow. Both of which are ranked. It almost sounds like Eagle fan is a clone of Packer fan. By the way that is not a compliment.
