ESPN Power Rankings- Eagles 6th, Plowturds 1st
Okay, we all know that Matt Mosley likes to dress up as Clint Longley (bad perm and all) while Roger Staubach gives him the "teabag treatment", but does he have to be so obvious with his homer-ism? He's got the 0-1 Chargers (who lost at HOME) and the freakin SAINTS ahead of us in the power rankings, along with the Vagiants, Steelers, and Plowturds. I know he's not the only one voting, but I also know he was (like always) licking JJ's lizard boots (and neck) while espousing the annointment of Romo as the next Unitas, and Marion (a chick's name BTW) Barber as the reincarnation of Nighttrain Lane.
I guess we get to fly under the radar for one more week.

The only reason I understand this is that the Cowboys played the Browns who were 10-6 and looked pretty good last year and we played the Rams who were 3-13 and looked horrible last year. Now if/when we put the girls in there place if we aren’t number 1 then the system will be severely flawed.

Didn't you guys....
Beat the Lions week one last year and get just as excited? 56-17 or something? Get a clue, you beat a team who is rated 32/32 in the entire NFL on EVERY SINGLE power ranking. You will always be behind us. Can’t wait to dominate you chumps live on MNF – it will be a great night! I think we should be able to replicate last year’s early game against the beagles, and end up in the 38-17 range or somesuch. Enjoy the spanking you are about to get…..

You could have made this exact same comment before the last meeting between the two teams.
Which the Eagles won, if I remember correctly.

really?
That must be “Philly logic” – because we smacked the rams down at home last year 35-7 at home, but none of us blinked. It was business as usual, not a reason to say we belonged atop the power rankings. You guys should (and will) be in the 9-13 range in the power rankings after Monday.
Good luck coming up with excuses.

My comment had absolutely nothing to do with the Rams and everything to do with “we should be able to replicate last year’s early game against the beagles, and end up in the 38-17 range or somesuch”.
You could have made the exact same statement before the December game at Texas Stadium in which the Cowboys scored a grand total of SIX points.
Dallas is the favorite, but they play the games for a reason.

I'll see that ante -
And I’ll raise you one disgusting, greasy, foul-mouthed, know-nothing pos eagle fan
Here are the few things I KNOW about Philly:
You are known for being the FATTEST city in the country
You have the worst fans with the most vile ill-will I have ever witnessed
Your city has not been relevant in the major sports landscape since the early 80’s (when was the last championship your pathetic football team won again?)
Your fans have the “sucker” mentality, meaning you do not have the guts to talk smack without being in large packs – for fear or repercussion.
All-in-all – I cant find much to like about your city or your fans. Pure scum. Looking forward to Monday, oldasdirt.

While I am Cowboys fan I can't say I agree with what bigdog is saying but
this crap about you can’t be a real fan of a team unless you were born in the same area is getting old. If you have passion about the team and have been loyal through bad years I dont think it matters where your from. Are you saying there are no Eagle fans who weren’t born in Pennsylvania?

Yeah I agree as well, heck just look at me lol. I haven’t even been in the US yet, but my blood is just as green as all the Eagle fans here. I think the bigger point is around fair weather fans. Cowboys fans turn their asses as the wind blows. And on top of that, a lot of them haven’t ever been to Texas.

to begin with…
After Las Vegas, the next four fattest cities, according to the study, are all in Texas: Arlington, San Antonio, Fort Worth and El Paso.
study published by men’s fitness study from 2008
next…i’m not greasy…i actually shower every day.
i’m also quite knowledgable if i do say so myself…although i guess i don’t know what pos means…i don’t really think it’s a word though
also, opinions are not facts…you can’t know that we’re the worst fans…it’s an opinion that cannot be verified in any way.
we’re not relavent? when was the last playoff game your team won?
and your explanation of sucker mentality makes no sense. i would understand if you said we shouldn’t get excited about beating the rams and we’re being suckers for getting excited, but i would say what you’re trying to describe (although according to you i’m a know nothing) is called “mob mentality”. yes…that’s what you’re trying to describe, which is an incorrect statement. i go to games outside of philly and i’m not afraid to wear my eagles gear and cheer for them.
you don’t like much about philly, but it is one of the most historical cities in the United States…just based on that, it’s quite an excellent city.
and just cause we like the eagles doesn’t make us scum…your premise doesn’t validify your conclusion. in other words, that’s an invalid argument.
please, next time come up with better arguments…and if you “know” something, make it a fact that you can back up…not your opinion

wow...
You guys are great! Those are exactly the responses I was looking for.
How do I know you shower every day? Why would I care? Do greasy people not shower? Might they have a bad complexion?
My facts about your city are outdated, as I remembered the fact off the top of my head, I believe I saw it in the 1999 Men’s Fitness magazine or some such, however I do not have the time to go do research on the web to prove my posts to Iggles blog fans, however I appreciate you letting me know that your city is now very healthy.
Mob mentality would not have required quotes, as it was not my interpretation. I understand this might be above your head, seeing as you cannot even post with proper sentence structure, however I can forgive that and look past it.
Philly might be historical, but not because of football.
Speaking of which, “relavent” is not a word, it’s relevant. However spelling must not be “relavent” where you are from. Keep trying to come off as an intellectual, it might work with your fellow fan base here, but I see right through ya buddy.

I think it’s cute that the Eagles fans are prideful once again.
It’s week 1 and Philly fan is doing fist bumps and talking dynasty and acting as if the Iggles were robbed by not being ranked #1 in a meaningless list.
The truth is that the Iggles are not even on the Cowboys radar. The NFC East is a battle between the Giants and Cowboys. Reid is basically battling the Redskins to see who can rebuild quicker and cheaper.

Hey Cowboys fans,
I hear a lot of trash talking about our city, but nothing about football. Lets talk some foot ball.
How do you expect that the Cowboys will beat Philly. How do you expect to cover DeSean Jackons?
You guys run that 3-4 defense w/ Ware and Ellis on the outside, if Philly goes Jackson in the slot, Do you put Ellis or Ware on Jackson? Maybe break your cover 2, assigning a safety to Jackson (leaving safeties on cover 1). You will have no safety help on the outside, That means that Avant and Basket are Man-up. I don’t beleive that they will got deep though, Basket isn’t getting by either Jones or Newman.
Maybe you guys put one of your starting CB on our slot guy, which means you went Nickle. I think Westbrook will be catching screens to the opposit side of the nickle.
You know the Eagle will stretch your Defense, We will line up Westbrook, and Jackson all over the place just to get that Westbrook Safety or Jackson Safety Match up. Your safeties will be forced to play up to cover. I did’n’t even mentioned Booker, who will line up with Westbrook and Jackson at the same time.
Your safeties suck, you don’t have enough outside LB speed to keep up. You have to adjust your Defense. You can not match up. Sorry to tell you. Explain to me your gameplan boy genius, no matter how you put it, you are screwed.

Ware and Ellis won't be in coverage very much.
They will do what they do best and rush the passer. I have no problem putting our corners man to man with the Eagle’s WRs as long as its the right matchup, like Newman on Jackson, Pacman on Brown, Jenkins on Avant and Henry on Baskett.
by houseofprime on Sep 10, 2008 4:25 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Now we're talking...
I find the trash talking amusing, on both sides, but actually was glad to see someone talking about football. It’s just really funny to hear guys on both sides getting angry and claiming their city is better than your city, which is comparable to the “my dad can beat up your dad” argument. Both sides have loyal fans and both sides have fans that are idiots. Some are loyal idiots….
That being said, I think the Philly offense could give the Cowboys trouble if Newman can’t play. If Newman can play then that frees up Pacman to play in the slot rather than a back-up corner. If the Philly line can’t hold up to the blitz then the presence of Newman is negligible and Westbrook isn’t as effective if you have to go into max-protection.
I do see the Dallas offense giving the Eagles defense some match-up problems as well. It’s a difficult match-up when you have to stop Barber, Witten, Owens, and then they can line up Felix all over the place as well.
I’m ready for the game and think it should be a great measuring stick for both teams, regardless of the coach-speak being thrown out there by both. With obvious bias I think Dallas comes out of a close one, 31-24. It seems like it’s always close so I look forward to seeing it all go down. Good luck and try to not judge all Cowboys fans (or all people from Texas rather) based on what is represented here.
by BombDiggity on Sep 10, 2008 4:46 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I don't think Dallas will Blitz much,
Philly is going to use a spread offense, 3 to 4 receivers most of the game. When we have 2 receivers, you will see 2 RB that can catch (Booker & Westbrook) equivalant of 2 receivers. I dont’ see LJ doing much. Dallas can win if they go Nickle or line the safety up at the line, (that leaves less than 8 in the box, likely 7) I think Brian Westbrook will like to see 7 in the box. Thats money all day baby.

The reason i don't see Dallas blitzing much, is because they need that defender on coverage,
unless you send it up the gut, that can be negated with a quick out to the slot guy (or actually you can slant him to the vacated spot where the MLB was. Quick short passes should cool of those blitzes. Dallas isn’t stupid, they don’t want to run that risk, they won’t blitz much, trust me. They don’t want to give up that play, Jackson can take that to the house.
