Around SBN: Dolphins vs Patriots: The Biggest Game in Years for Miami Bar-right-arrows

I am psyched about our future.

You know what guys, the more I think about the future, the better this team looks.

Next year we have 2 number 1 picks. Lets play around with this scenario for a little bit, not considering any deals including McNabb or Sheppard.

QB McNabb/ Kolb

RB Westbrook/ Booker (Buck walks, we draft RB in 3rd round like always)

WR - Jackson, (We draft Crabtree), Curtis, Avant, Basket (Brown gets trade for 5th rounder)

TE Celek, (we Draft TE in 4th Round)

OL ---good shape with Andrews/ Herremans tackles, Gilles/ McGlynn guards. (we address in freeagency.

DE - I love Brian Smiths Future (Smith/Coles/ Abiamiri/ Parker/ Clemons), (Howard walks),

DT- nice shape here

LB- Nice shape

CB - Brown/Samuel/Sheppard/ Ikeguoano

Safties - We draft Safety with 2nd First round pick, Mikel/Demps/ Considine or Dawkins (Still may be a need depending on Dawkins and Mikels) I may hope Dawkins just retires next year.

I think we draft as follows

first round (Carolina) WR or DE. (If top 5 Crabtree or Johnson) they still may go Tackle here.

First round (philly) Tackle

second round pick (Safety)

Third Round (RB or TE)

who cares after this.

We are in good shape for a title in my lifetime. Maybe its this year, if next, I'm psyched about the future.

andrews isn't moving off of guard

hunt isn’t staying long term at fullback
winston justice has gotta get a shot at some point, though it’s gotta come at the expense of runyan, who is still a very good RT.

i think 2 of thomas, runyan, and buckhalter is going to stay past this year, but that’s just a gut feeling taking into account the success that both runyan and buckhalter have had in the recent past.

Okoye started college at age 15 and finished in 3.5 years … not only did he get a degree unlike most pro athletes he did it before most pro athletes are even starting college. He is a freak.

yo i remember seeing a safety who was 6’4 and ran a 4.45 but i forget who he was, does anyone by any chance know who i’m describing?

by Remis on Sep 5, 2008 4:47 PM EDT   0 recs

ray maualuga, possibly.

i’m pretty sure anyone who fits that description is playing for USC.

Taylor Mays*, SS/FS, USC
Height: 6-4. Weight: 225.
Projected 40 Time: 4.45.
Projected Round (2009): Top 15 Pick

that’s sick

that's right, i remember hearing about him.

i know a guy on another board from SC, and he reported the following about mays:

Some workout numbers from USC’s spring testing were leaked this week. I knew the dude was a freak of nature but for the second straight year, FS Taylor Mays was the fastest guy on the team- by 2 accounts he ran a 4.22/40 & 4.23/40 (by hand) and 4.26/40 (electronically timed) and put up 21 reps of 225 lbs. Last year he ran an electronically timed 4.28. But here’s the thing- He’s 6’4" 233 lbs and still growing (he just turned 20 in Feb). If Mays keeps growing there is no way he sticks at safety. He’ll most likely take the Brian Urlacher route who also played S at New Mexico. But then again with that size and speed you can put him anywhere- FS, SS, Sam, Mike, Buck, Will and even put some packages in for him at RB and/or WR on offense. If he stays healthy and has another big year, there’s virtually no chance he will be back for his SR season. It’s very likely that he’s a Top 5 pick next year and if so, here’s to hoping Carolina crashes and burns next year.
