Lets Talk McDougle
Here it is his first game with the giants and he already hit the punter and cost then a possesion.
Do you guys realy think he is a big loss?
I always felt he was a poor draft pick and possible worse, a wast of money.
I'm glad he is gone i feel we got the better end of the deal since we got rosture space and some extra cap room. he is 30 and has less tackles in his cureer than one of trent coles seasons and only has a total of 3 yes 3 sacks.maybe just maybe we should replace him with fred-ex atleast he did something for this team.
Please explain to me why everyone is afraid of a guy who can only do well against a second and third team. i bet you he cant even go back to college and have an OK season.

he earned a roster spot this preseason
i don’t think anyone can say more than that right now. he played himself onto the team, while clemons and abiamiri sat in the training room.
maybe those two are better players, but they didn’t prove it this summer.

still
look at his situation he couldnt beet out two guys who hasnt played a snap all pre season so he gets cut and picked up by a team who lost 2 starting d ends and he will still see little time there.
plus you know how the nfc east works every team picks up the others wast

Never say never
Kiwanuka got an ugly looking injury tonight on a late play. One could only hope he is knocked out of comission for a while and the Giants have to play McDougle.

We can talk McDougle when he plays like the first rounder we spent on him. Until then yes he did play himself onto the roster but the Eagles saw something they didn’t like so I trust JJ he doesn’t just give away DEs like that.

I don't think it was anything he did, but the fact that the roster was tight
Remember that Curtis is out, and Dawkins has already got hurt in preseason.
So the Eagles were forced to keep 6 WR (keeping GLew and Reed for Depth).
The Eagles had to make a choice on cuts, they instead chose to IR Dunlap, (using Andrews/ Herremens/ Justice) as the Tackle Depth.
It was down to Clemons vs Howard vs McDougle.
We were not keeping 7 DEs
Clemons (we would take a 4 Million dollar hit on cutting him)
McDougle (plays only DE, but had best preseason.
Howard (is primarily a DT right now and plays DE)
Since we went light at DT w/ just 4, Howard was the best choice, because he offers most depth.
So McDougle was the obvious cut, (unless you would have cut Reed, but you need Reed in cause BDawk goes down) .

negative … if they thought he was going to be an impact player at DE they would have cut JR Reed (because no one was going to pick him up) and kept McDougle. JJ does not let talent walk out the door especially to play for our rivals, it has nothing to do with roster space they just didn’t think he was going to be the guy.

hey, I respect your opinion, but I gotta stick to my guns on this one
Howard is like a 2 for 1 guy, and really played more DT this preseason than DE. McDougle doesn’t.
However I will tell you, I did see McDougle take a few plays off that last game. (But its hard to tell on TV what his assignment was).
I am just trying to make sense of the issue. I think the most plausible scenario is the one I spelled out, but you may be right on your hypothesis. I just don’t see how you can see how he played and think that he was the odd man out. We will only know by the way Jerome plays in NY this year, if he is a bust there, then JJ didn’t like something in Jerome.

Howard
Was also safe because he is the back-up Long Snapper. He’s really three positions in one.
