Will Westbrook, Andrews, & Smith play against the Redskins?
Maybe, no, yes.
That was the news coming out of the Novacare complex yesterday as Andy Reid updated the status of the Eagles injured offensive starters.
First, the good news is that Andy expects LJ Smith to practice this week and be ready to play this weekend. The struggles of our backup TEs against the Bears have been well discussed... so the return of LJ should certainly be a help.
Now, the kinda bad but might be okay news... Most of us assumed that since Westbrook was a gametime decision to play last week, he should be ready to go this week. Right? Not so fast. Andy Reid was still unsure about Westbrook's status
"I don't know that," Reid said when asked if Westbrook would practice tomorrow and play Sunday. "We'll have to see how he does the next two days. If he had to practice today, he couldn't."
That's bad news. I'll be keeping a close eye for any news relating to Westbrook's ankle as we go forward this week. Suffice to say, we need him this weekend.
The other bad news is that Shawn Andrews almost certainly will not play and his injury is not improving
"He isn't getting any better," Reid said. "We're going to have him see a specialist and get this thing better."
For now, the Eagles are not considering surgery.

Oof. If there’s anything to be optimistic about, at least MJG has been doing pretty well.

Yeah he seems to have done decent enough job. Obviously with any O-lineman, the more he plays the better he’ll get.
Westbrook is the concern though. Without him, I don’t see us winning this weekend.

Wow, yeah, without Westbrook we’re ****ed. WE’ve seen that there’s no Plan B.
Dear Andy Reid, will you stop SAYING that you have to put your players in a better position to succeed and just *&^$ing DO it.

Redskins
Don’t be such a downer if West doesn’t play. Here’s two reasons why we will win this game even without Westbrook. 1.) We’re at home. 2.) Our defense is a top 3 defense. As long as Asante can stick on Santana Moss like glue, we should win this game.
I definitely agree with your remarks on Andy Reid. That pisses me off too. And can we get Booker more involved in the offense? This guy was supposed to be a Westbrook clone and he looked good during the preseason. So far the Eagles tried running him up the middle with no success, but they haven’t given him any tosses, stretch plays, screens. We need to get him involved in the offense.

Uh 1) The Cowboys were at home and 2) Our secondary has been embarrassing at times.

1. we werent at home for dallas. we were away. we actually havent given up a touchdown at the link yet this year. 2-0 at home. 0-2 away. are we starting a trend? (Especially when we win this weekend! 3-0 BABY!)
2. Our secondary was good against the steelers and the rams. not so great against the versatile cowboys…nor the 1st half of the bears game. adjustments were made and we bounced back in the 2nd half.
i think we’ll be good this weekend. we’ll take the run away entirely, and that forces a lot more forced passes. Jason Campbell should be introduced to the “interception” this weekend. He does have 0 on the year so far.

Agreed the Olsen and Booker touchdowns were a shame blown coverage and it just looked like the Eagles were not ready for the Bears to pass. The Hester TD was a fluke Asante was stride for stride unfortunately he fell down 9 out of 10 times Asante knocks that down.

additionally, Orton put that ball in the only place he could. It was a very difficult throw that I doubt Orton makes 50% of the time. When things like that happen, you just have to say, “9 out of 10 times Samuel doesn’t fall and 50% of the time Orton doesn’t put the ball there” and just tip your hat

+1
Give Orton credit. Both of his TD’s were amazing throws… in fact i think the first one was one of the better throws i’ve seen in the NFL this year.
Is is a fluke? Probably. But it was a great throw. Period.

I’m not saying I’d like to be without him, but let’s remember this defense has given up a grand total of 9 points at home this year.
The Eagles can win on Sunday without Westbrook. But it will need to be another win like the Steelers game.

Yeah… No Westy = Bad News… Have we actually discovered what is wrong with Andrews’ back yet? I can’t seem to recall a specific diagnosis…

MJG
without andrews, we were lacking in OL “push” on the goal line. still, if schoebel hadn’t whiffed……
as for westbrook, anyone think that west is going to play, and reid is misdirecting?

I thought he was maybe misdirecting last week…
I thin Andy is being upfront. Westbrook will probably be another gametime decision. We;ll see if he practices at all this week.

i dont think so
westbrook has been known for skipping practice alot due to “injuries” and then comes out and has 150 rushing yards and 2 td

West
Yeah, I say he plays. You gotta catch the Redskins off guard. After seeing his team lose from the sidelines, the “itch” to play will help his ankle heel a little faster.

NOT BUYING IT
i’d bet big money that Bwest plays on Sunday
With the look on his face during the game, theres no way he doesnt play this week… also, its against his child hood team.

Well guys
i was finally able to log onto BGN without tears of anger and saddness welling up in my eyes. B-West plays. 700 saw what i also saw. westbrook was dying to get onto that field during that….that game last sunday. its andrews i am worried about. we have no clue what is going on with him. LJ back will be an assest. it was schobel that screw that play up and LJ would have made that block had he been lined up there. MJG is big, very big. he is built to protect the qb and push away defenders to poke holes. not pancake a guy and run downfield to make more blocks. thats y we need andrews back asap. Booker shined a little in preseason, but so far has seen like a dump to me. Did u see that f***ing so call piece of s*** damn thing of a block? guy cants block or at least throw a chip to throw a defender off, cant take it up the gut. i would like to see a screen or a sweep for him. but if buck goes down like last time, we all saw that we were screwed. celek will be good. underline we. the kid has to develop, just like “uno diez”. y is schobel on the team. atleast that other guy whatwashisname, started with K. he could throw a block, givin #5 an additional blocker. anyways, i feel good now, all that rantin and ravin is out of my system. i dont believe in must win games, but lookin at hte East and our scenario, next sunday at 1:00 is a must win for the iggles, we are already #4 in the east and we cant go down any further. we have the talent, skill, and playmakers (when healty) to win out the season.
