Mystery team makes offer for Lito?
Our old pal Drew Rosenhaus checked in with Les Bowen of the Daily News this week and told him just that...
"At least one team has made a recent trade proposal to the Eagles," Rosenhaus wrote in an e-mail. "The Eagles didn't like the compensation and turned it down. I will not identify the team at this time. I think there is a very good chance Lito gets traded in the next few weeks."
Bowen is skeptical and frankly so am I. Is it possible that teams had discussions about Lito recently? Sure, I would think teams have discussed many players... but I highly doubt Lito was ever close to or will be traded at all this year. It's simply too late.
Next spring slick...

Also, is it me, or is Drew Rosenhause the Al Sharpton of the NFL.

What could we possibly get that we want?
We don’t need a number 1 pick,
2nd round pick is too low, (and fankly, we don’t need another one, being we have 2 first rounders)
We don’t really need a WR, I don’t want to take the ball away from Jackson.
We don’t need a DE
We don’t need a CB
We don’t need DT
We don’t need a LB (unless its a stud)
We don’t need a QB
We just IR’d King Dunlap on the Oline, I doubt that they will trade Lito for a Olineman, whos gonna trade a good lineman for Lito, they would be stupid)
We can use a good safety (who’s giving that up, thats a premium in the league)
We can use a TE (who is available?)
We can use a RB (he would fill in for Buck)
What can we possibly get that would be worth while?
Lito isn’t going anywhere? The only scenario I see possible is the Eagles trading Lito for a good RB, Willy Parker anyone? What about his age? Does Pittsburgh need a CB? Is he a westcoast offense type guy? (I am just using him as an example, this would have to be a player for player deal, due to roster spaces, and the fact the we don’t need a pick. And even if we did get another 2nd rounder. We don’t have many roster possitions open for battle next camp.
I very much doubt we trade Lito, wouldn’t surprise me if we just redo Litos deal to stay, and convince him its OK being a nickle. Heck Look at Trevor Laws, he has zero chance at being a starter, he was brought it for depth.
It ain happening fellows, I like having 3 CBs, it gives us an edge that no one else has.

Man, I supported Lito all during the offseason, but he’s just been a little bitch ever since he hired Rosenhaus. Who the fuck has the audacity to demand a pay raise when they miss 1/3rd of their games? Don’t hit the door on the way out, you won’t be missed.

Lito and Rosendouche have Zero leverage here. The worst he could convince Lito to do is not show up… Okay our secondary takes a bit of a hit, but he doesn’t want to play? Fine he doesn’t get paid, and then probably gets fined and we probably go after a season’s worth of his rookie prorated signing bonus. Oh by the way Lito, we own your ass for the next few years, so I’d play nice and tell Douche to keep his trap shut if you ever want to see another team or a bigger contract…

Nothing would surprise me at this point,
But this has got to be Rosenhaus talking out of his a$$.
yophilly puts together a good list of what we need and don’t right now. However, I disagree with him about the Corner situation. If we trade Lito, Corner suddenly goes from an area of strength to an area of weakness. Do we really want Joselio Hanson our Nickel again? One snap away from starting? Kyle Arrington gets promoted from the practice squad to be our 4th corner.
Given the Eagles roster moves, a team is going to have to absolutely blow the Birds away (at least Boldin straight up) for us to pull the trigger on any trades for Lito.
Not saying it won’t happen, just saying that the conditions have got to be right.

I disagree it does get weaker but not an area of weakness, only because last year our starters were Will James and Sheldon Brown with Joselio Hanson as our Nickel. This year it will be Asante and Sheldon with Joselio as our Nickel and I’m okay with that. I still think Lito plays, he won’t sit out he hurts himself more by not showing he can stay heathy (whilst playing), and it’s too late for a trade better luck next year Lee-Tow.
I believe the reason we have 5 safeties is because they believe in Quintin Demps ability both as a returner and as being able to step in as a CB, so I think he becomes our 4th CB in the even something does change, not Kyle Arrington.

I seem to remember the Eagles going 8-8 last year with Lito Sheppard and Sheldon Brown the starters. I grant you that there were 4 games (or so) Sheppard missed, but the dude played hurt in another several. Games he probably would have missed altogether had the Nickel (James or Hanson) been so completely unsuited to starting.
That is the situation we’d be putting ourselves in again if we traded Sheppard: An injury to Brown or Samuel makes Hanson a starter, Demps the Nickel and Arrington (or Trae Williams) the 4th corner.
So, I’ll amend my “area of weakness” statement to read “area where we are almost catastrophically thin.”

You know what would be silly,
If we traded Lito for a 2nd round pick, only to select another CB with that pick. How stupid, but possible that would be. Eagles gave Molden a Look, and did draft Ikeguoano. Jack will be the nickle.
If he stays, man this team rocks next year.
Sheppard/ Brown/ Samuel, Ikeguano.

Go away trade rumors
So damn tired of hearing about trades for Lito. This time the rumor mongering is being created by the infamous Drew Ro$enhaus himself. Sounds like a last-ditch and half-hearted attempt to appease his unhappy client. (Hey, I’m creating buzz about you, see? I’m doing my job, you just play great, ok?)
Completely agree with Jason, it’s too late for this season. Shut up and play.
