PrintWe cannot run the ball unless it is misdirection, we have no true running game outside the single back formation. Desean Jackson is good and he will be fine. As bad as his mistakes were he did not lose us this game..Bad playcalling in the red zone and missed oppertunities killed us.
Defense is absolutley amazing by the way....you cant ask them to do much more
LJ smith needs to leave and more importantly we have got to address TE..Celek isnt doing it....sorry all you Celek lovers but hes bad.....cant block cant get open...Bad Combo...
Also Akers is GOOD under 30 yards...

iam breathing fire – he used to be so much better – so if its past 40 or more were screwed , dont get me wrong i like akers but maybe its time -hard to let go but thats the way it goes

i will have to disagree about one thing. i think the defensive play calling in the first quarter or so sucked.

The Eagles tried to be aggresive, thats how they won the Pitt game, What can you say, Asante got burnt by stinking Hester, that just should not happen. It looked like he was expecting safety help or somethink. I don’t know what Asantes assignment on that was. It looks like the Eagles were cover 1 on that. The Bears must have ran 2 fly patterns on that, that means the safety has a 50/50 chance of picking the wrong receiver. He must have broke to the other side, that was just a good play by Orton to recognize that.

he was in the play looks like his feet got tangled and he went down, tough break Hester is a horrible WR

ive always said it and i still will. he cant block hae has bricks for hamnds half the time and falls down after the first hit half the time. he gets stopped at the line almost every time.
Why did we keep Hunt again??
maybe for a time like yesterday where westbrook is down and we need tha extra weapon? THEN USE HIM.
Do you realize he had one touch and that was a great catch in traffic. and couldnt we of used him on that goal line a bit? no insted we gave it to Buck 2 or 3 times so he can hit one person and fall down.

hey i was a big Buck fan when he came into the league but he hasnt been good since his first injury.
i really havnt seen consistant play out of him at all and i am sick of the eages using him as that power back that he clearly is not. he never is able to brae through the line and make a hole andthere is where i say he sucks.
Buck sucks as a power back. and that is what the eagles use him as.
Seriously bud… Buck’s a good back… And it really says something that he even made it back into the game… He wasn’t the one calling the handoffs right into the line all night…
Sorry, but Bucky clearly sucks. The fact that he made it back into the game means that he was not seriously hurt to begin with. Just because he breaks out a decent run every now and then doesn’t make him a “good back”.

last night was no different he had 66 rushing yards the second most given up by the Bears this year. And the Birds don’t run the ball especially Buckys style. You are just bitter while I think Westbrook would have had a better day than Buck it would have been due to screens and flat passes not running the ball.
66 yds – take out the one long run and his average sucks. What exactly is “Buckys style” Running into his offensive linemen? You “think” Westbrook would have had a better day than Buck – you mean injured and barely able to run, of course. Finally, obviously I’m bitter. I’m an Eagles fan for over 40 years who has been watching shit like last night for most of it!

Listen, if you’re going to come after me that’s fine- just make an intelligent criticism or comment. Although I say I’m bitter in a self deprecating way, that alone does not make me irrational. It is you who is dillusional if you think Bucky is anything more that a fair replacement for BWest. FACT is that last night he had two shots to punch it in from the ONE yard line and couldn’t get it done. Who is being irrational?

it was 66 yards against the Bears D who are only allowing 71 rushing yards per game for a team and only 1 player as gotten over 70 on them Stewart with 77. I think I have backed up my statements quite well all you have done is said that Buck sucks then quoted some guy. So let me put this to rest right now.
Just some perspective Brian Westbrook has 42 attempts 161 yards 3.8 average and 3 TDs that is 3 starts with a shortened steelers game. Buckhalter has 28 attempts and 114 yards 4.1 average and 1 TD in just 1 start and a healthy dose of attempts in the Steelers game.
Oh and while Westbrook has 8 receptions 46 yards 5.8 average and 2 TDs, Buckhalter has 10 receptions 83 yards 8.3 average and 1 TD.
Does Buckhalter really suck or are we all just pissed off that we lost and want to blame it on him.

You can throw stats around all day…in what situations were those yards gained or catches made. They went to him last night as the power back that he purports to be and twice he failed to deliver. I am pissed off that we lost – arent you? I am not blaming the entire loss on him, but last night he clearly did suck. I believe him to be a mediocre replacement for Westbrook – you’re quoting numbers in the abstract did not put anything to rest. Look yourself in the mirror and answer the question – did he get it done last night?

Under the logic of your stats, we should just start Bucky over Westbrook – thats only rational isn’t it?
STATS
I’ve got a couple for you. Biggest year as noted by someone else above was 2001 – his rookie season. (586 yds). Since then out three whole seasons. Returned in 2006 with a whopping 345 yds and followed that up with 313 in 2007. A damn fine back – if you believe that you are truly drinking the Kool Ade my friend.

he has only started 12 games in his entire career … do me a favor and look at the stats in those games I think you might be surprise at just how much Buck does not suck.
Buck over Westy...
Buck played a solid game as a #2 back last night. No one expected him to be Brian Westbrook, and I think that our #2 back stepped in and played well. Look at the replay of the 4th and Goal. Even if we had Jerome Bettis in his prime…we werent getting it in there. No matter how big you are, there was over 1,000 pounds of chicago defense inside the gap that buck was trying to shoot into.
Birdy – I understand your being sarcastic about starting Buck over West…but you have to realize that Westbrook has teams game plan for him. What he does with the ball is amazing….what he does without the ball is just as amazing. Team adjust eveything based off of where he lines up. Even if he would have posted the Exact same individual stats as Buck, I think that we win that game last night.

all I’m refuting is that he does not SUCK, it was one game I’ve seen Westbrook have bad games were you ready to ship him out too probable … he is a good back and we are lucky to have him as a back up. The statement that Buck Sucks is the most insane statement I’ve ever heard. I’m not saying that he didn’t get it done last night … he got stopped and he should have pounded it in. We should have ran a QB sneak or at least bootleg with a two tight end set. There are many things that could have been done different. Saying that Buckhalter sucks because of this game is what gives us as Philadelphia fans a bad name, I’m not trying to prove that Buckhalter is a superstar or is better than Brian Westbrook all I’m proving is that he does not suck. According to you as soon as a backup doesn’t perform like a superstar we should give up on him.

I’ll stop beating this dead horse from my end since you have at least conceded that Bucky did not get it done last night. Do not take a point to its extreme and illogical conclusion. I have never suggested, nor would I that BWest be shipped out – that’s just a stupid and mindless comment. Believe me stating an opinion about the Eagles back-up running back and supporting it logically is NOT what gives Philadelphia fans a bad name. Finally, no where did I ever suggest that Bucky should or could perform like BWest. He sucked last night mostly in not getting it done and is, in general, a mediocre back. I guess we’ll simply have to agree to disagree.

This is my assessment of everything
Akers is done, I can’t Blame LJ, he wasn’t on the field. Eagles went 3 WR sent (speed package) most of the game. Celek made some grabs, but his blocking isn’t good enough.
We shouldn’t be too worried about the LBs getting toasted again by TE, Eagles were blitzing, we got away with that with Pitt. You live by the blitz, you die by it.
Andy was absolutely correct by going for it on 4th down.
Eagles did the best they can to keep the Bears blitz at bay, they ran speed package with a ton of short routes. The problem is that the Bears just played short zone and cover 2 short to counter that. They seem to blitz when the Eagles wanted to go deep.
I didn’t think it would have been wise for us to try to go up top in this game. I thought that the game plan was appropriate. They Eagles wanted to show the bears that they weren’t gonna let the blitz kill them. We played that game to be won by 3 points, we just needed to execute on 4th down. Like I said, Andy put that team in position to win, the Bears just out-willed us. Over all , not a terrible game plan or game by the Eagles.
However I will admit, Jackson fumble really hurt us. If he didn’t fumble, it would have been a different game. It also shook him up and that took him out of his game.

Going for it on 4th down was necessary….But i wish that we had thrown at least 1 into the endzone earlier to create some kind of breathing room in there. Slamming it up the middle isnt exactly our thing…but our run game opens up a lot when opposing D’s are at least threatened by the pass. We gave them no reason to think pass at all. Play action woulda been sweet on 3rd.
