should we get a better te?
It seems like Vernon Davis is not really wokring out to well in San Fran...could you see him being traded to the eagles in the near future? If we traded away a package of LJ Smith and maybe a draft pick or a WR (Reggie Brown Possibly) we would upgrade our receivers and get one of the best potential TE's in the game. He's fast, can catch, and is a great blocker. What are your thoughts?

If Davis isn’t working there is there a reason to believe he’d be better here? And while we’re on the subject of the TE spot, I forget where I read it but someone noted that Baskett is lining up a lot like a TE and running those types of routes. Is that true? I mean he is big and has pretty good hands; are we essentially using him as a TE?
By the way, L.J. is a bum.

If we’re going to upgrade the TE position, it’ll happen after the season

The worst part is...
We all wanted LJ to work out so bad, but we still got nothing. I’ve been a huge fan of his – I always liked that Merril Reese call when LJ brought the ball to the 4 yd line during the Falcons NFC Champ game (included in that “Frozen Tears” video). But enough is enough. Put up or shut up.
The reality is that we’re only three games in. If this “injury” doesnt keep him out for a while, maybe he can finally do what we’ve all been hoping for. Hey – who better to hope for the best other than Eagles fans?
And Whodie – right on about Celek!

can we get off the brown issue
WE ARE NOT TRADING, DROPPING,SELLING OR KILLING REGGIE BROWN IT IS JUST TOO COSTLY SO GET OVER IT. he still is a decent plyer and it is in no way worth taking the cap hit. he can ride the bench for the rest f his contract but we will NEVER trade him SO STOP BRINGING IT UP or is that idea to hard to understand. THE ONLY WAY HE WILL BE TRADED IS IF WE TRADE HIM STRAIGHT UP FOR FITZ. now tell me do you think that could happen because we canstart that whole topic again.
JUST DROP IT!

Do you really think we have a chance at fitz?????
sorry man, couldn’t resist.
I’m with you on this. brown isn’t going anywhere and i’m not sure its to our benefit for him to go anywhere. This week was his first game since last december, cut the dude some slack he will get back into the groove and 800 yards and a few touchdowns aren’t bad numbers. I actually wish they would use him on crossing routes more and let him do his thing. I think 90 percent of what i have seen thrown to him this season and last are 10 yard out patterns and what the hell is he gonna do then when he catches it at the sideline?

Given the emergence of DeSean Jackson, it’s highly advantageous to keep Reggie. Once Curtis returns, I forsee Reggie’s play improving alot. Brown’s biggest problem is getting seperation. His skill set is okay, but he’s simply not talented enough to consistently overmatch better CBs around the league. Curtis does a better job with this. With him back and Jackson a constant deep threat, D’s will be forced to account for Curtis and Jackson (and Westbrook) at all times. Given this, Brown should find himself in matchups against nickle/dime DBs or LBs, and THESE are the matchups that Brown can take advantage of and have a great deal of success with. Additionally, playing him in the slot will allow him to work over the middle more; an area that gives him the greatest chance of making big plays after the catch. I agree with 0sirys that outs and such limit his post catch ability. I fear that the reason they constantly send him on out routes is that it allows him the bet opportunity to get seperation on a better CB. Just my opinion though…

OR KILLING REGGIE BROWN
About that… I know these guys… you can’t ask them too many questions, but you leave an envelope full of money and a picture taped under this certain bench… things seem to work out… they sound really Italian on the phone..
kidding… or am i?

celek
is gross … whodie im right behind you … celek will take the role next year if not further into the season … lj will sign somewhere else next year so dont expect any type of trade from him … hes probably big headed enough to assume he will be worth a big free agent deal but my bottom dollar bets hes not the first free agent signed lol … not to say i dont like the kid and his local effort to big up the tri state area but cmon … celek is looking like hes just as worthy … can you deny it ?

i wouldnt mind
it wont happen mid season but after i would be open to it hes not producing because of lack of qb the always chaning cycle of SF offensive coordinators and the tight end doesnt play a huge roll on martz’s offense

unless JT o'sullivan is the second coming of kurt warner
mike martz’s head will be on the chopping block long before they dump either of their first round picks.

Vernon Davis
Don’t get sucked in. He’s a work out wonder. He’s an average blocker at best, but he is learning. He just doesn’t run great routes or have great hands. He’s big and fast, but someone has to teach him how to have soft hands. Let someone else make the mistake of taking him on, especially through a trade.

L.G, past his prime…i say send a 3 or 4th round pick and LG over to SF and see what happens…Vernon Davis cant be worse than a injury prone past his prime LG Smith
