Has an absolute cannon for an arm, and Jones is solid too. They’re a team i’m gonna be watching next season

It’s amazing how one week turned everything around for them. THey looked all but out of it before last week.
I was just gonna say
They got a coach fired in the middle of a wildcard race, must be doing something right.

Well, so much for the best secondary in the NFC, but after the way this one started, I’m more than happy with the halftime score.
Bonehead play aside, DJ looks like the real deal and McNabb doing what needs to be done.

I'm actually drinking a cornicopia (sp?) from a party I had last weekend but ...
I’m a Yuengling man .
First comment of the game for me
To busy yelling and throwing shit
Where is our D?
I’m RELATIVELY happy at this point. But we need to finish this one
http://vimeo.com/1590229
This really is being played poorly on both sides
no real deep coverage on either team
A lot of mental mistakes and a lot of penalties
Cowboys are starting to get pressure on McNabb, Eagles are hit and miss in pass coverage
2 HUGE BONE HEAD moves by Romo is the only reason the Eagles are up truthfully.
Really an ugly game
desean vs. westbrook
does anyone else see the huge difference in intelligence/football iq/bonehead-level between the eagles two best playmakers??
a year ago, bwest stopped at the one yard line instead of going into the endzone— making the smart play to win the game for sure. on the other hand, we have jackson, who drops the ball at the one to celebrate!
djax is lucky westbrook saved his ass
If westbrook didnt punch that one in
I’d expect booing of epic proportions next game in Philly.

1) If Dallas can’t get better coverage, leading to more pressure, you guys might hang 70 on us
2) Witten looked pretty good in the final minute for a guy with a separated shoulder. That cortisone is wonderful shit.
ask him about it tomorrow though

by HanleysHitters on Sep 15, 2008 10:55 PM EDT up reply actions
Agreed.
They had a chance to put a boot on the Cowboys in the 2nd quarter after Romo fumbled and didn’t do it. You can’t give a team with this much talent that many chances. You must knock them out. Knocing them down doesn’t do anything.

From Syracuse
I’m actually a Bills fan, but McNabb is the man in Central New York, and Dallas is Dallas. I hate Dallas. But I’m seeing what. Two uncalled face masks, a phantom review to end the half, and what else; a bullsh*t unsportmanslike penalty off a false start. Never seen anything like that.
GO PHILLY!!!!

mcnabb is ridiculous
how many times can dallas miss easy tackles on him … demarcus ware simply blew the tackle on that play …
Never underestimate
the ability of a Wade Phillips Defense to underperform
"Dig In....Hit Hard"
No matter how this drive ends.
It will come down to our ability to stop them on the next drive … that will make the game.
more secondary injuries!
yes! newman can’t run, williams is out, now williams’ backup is out … this just gets better and better for the eagles.

Kornheiser is right in the Dallas HAs to win this game, and they should be worried whatever the final score. That said, the Eagles have had every chance to win. If they don’t close . . .

I didn’t believe it until just now: Romo really is the best QB in the division. McNabb might not be third. Shit, even Campbell lead a comeback this week.
I can’t believe you just said Jason Campbell and Mcnabb in the same sentence
by HanleysHitters on Sep 15, 2008 11:56 PM EDT up reply actions
Mcnabb doesn't call the plays
He’s 100000000 times better than Campbell, and just as good as Romo
by HanleysHitters on Sep 15, 2008 11:57 PM EDT up reply actions
I can’t believe McNabb took two sacks and threw underneath on a must-have drive.
by Tracer Bullet on Sep 15, 2008 11:57 PM EDT up reply actions
He can't call plays, block, and run routes
Romo gave up a TD in his own endzone… you’re insane to think Campbell is better than McNabb

Pay attention
I never said Campbell was better. I said Campbell lead a 4th quarter comeback.

by HanleysHitters on Sep 15, 2008 11:56 PM EDT reply actions
I can’t believe that was the play call on 4th down, which it clearly was.
Was Reid trying to channel Boise St?
Weird.
It didn’t make much sense… but honestly what do you call on 4th and 17? There’s almost no right answer.
It never should have gotten to that point
McNabb could have thrown it away or run with it. I love #5, but he shit the bed on this one.
by Tracer Bullet on Sep 15, 2008 11:59 PM EDT up reply actions
PLus it looked like he had a play to Hank Baskett there. They never really showed a good angle so I can’t say for sure but it looked he had Hank open for at least 7 or 8 yards.
Exactly. There were plays to be made and he didn’t make them, didn’t even attempt them. He looked like the injured Donovan on the last drive. Indecisive, clumsy, timid.
by Tracer Bullet on Sep 16, 2008 12:09 AM EDT up reply actions
2nd half
Cowboys gave the eagles 14 pts. THen they came back and beat the hell out of us in the second half. 17-7 with two monstrous defensive stands in the 4th quarter … right now, they’re a better team with a much more potent (sometimes careless) QB.
I want the team to improve
the eagles got beat pretty badly in the second half … and come on, the romo flukey fumble in endzone we shouldn’t really rejoice about.
acknowledge the short comings and improve!!!
I agree we got the benefit of those calls ...
… but also that kickoff return and the play where T.O. was basically running free down the middle are plays which are unlikely to happen again.
Dallas drove the field I think twice. The Eagles drove it pretty much all night. Put up some field goals when we needed TDs, three times I think … dare I say shades of ’07?
Get a grip people
The Eagles offense, led by McNabb, scored 30 points at Dallas. The defense gave up 34 points. That was the problem. Sorry, but if you’re offense scores 30 points you should win. McNabb’s fumble hurt. But what about the dropped passes (GLew, DJack) and Westbrook’s earlier fumble that took them out of field goal range. This was just a hard fought game that the Eagles lost. They proved they are just as good as the Cowboys and should be a force in the NFL.

I agree ...
… hate to lose but you gotta take some good things away from this one. They didn’t roll over.
Also I think Dallas looked way better than I gave them credit for. Defensively meh, but all the weapons on offense, time to throw and Romo was firing lasers in there. So much for that best three-corner group in the league.
What a mess that was…
I guess I am impressed by the offensive output, but I saw some shades of last season, both offensively and defensively, especially in the second half.
We’ll see what this team is really made of next week against P-burgh…Can they bounce back from a tough loss. Should be fun.
Defense
I feel like the Eagles should have blitzed more. Too many times, the four-man rush gave Romo all day.
That was a war, gentleman!
When the emotions wear off, you’ll see nobody gave anybody anything. That was the hardest fought game I ever remember between these two teams and after 4 quarters, Dallas was 4 points better at home. So what? This is Week 2…
I was impressed with your Eagles tonight and they are back, no doubt. I’m not going to be one of these dickheads that sticks around and gloats. All respect for Philly and their fans. I may come back and talk about the game after I’ve had a chance to watch it again. Get ready for the Steelers. Take care.
I prefer the assholes
It’s worse when they’re gracious winners. I can’t feel good about hating them.
by Tracer Bullet on Sep 16, 2008 12:18 AM EDT up reply actions
I think both teams served notice ...
… anyone that watched that game should feel the same way. That was fun. I hate to lose, but if it’s ever going to happen, I prefer that to those games like that 27-3 Pitt game in ’04 or those listless losses to Jacksonville and Tennessee a few years back. The Birds went down fighting.
I’ve said from Day 1 if we get through Dallas and Pitt 2-1 I’d be OK.
1-2 would suck.
Agree completely
Go over and read the BTB threads – they have nearly identical comments about their own team as here about the Eagles.
These may be the best two teams in the NFL. I hope we play them again with no losses for either team in between. Hard not to think there will be two more games this season.
i prefer when they're not assholes
makes me not feel as bad…and EJ is pointing out reality…both teams battled…i think they’re pretty equally matched right now…hopefully our beloveds will fight back and make this a season to remember.
p.s. the assholes make me so angry, which is another reason i prefer this type of response
I'm actually not distraught ...
… I mean I hate when the Eagles lose, and I hate losing to Dallas, and I hate hearing T.O’s mouth.
That said I felt like even though the Eagles were exposed in some areas today that they served noticed that they are going to be a serious contender. We’ll see Dallas again.
Quick things I liked:
-O-Line gave McNabb lots of time to throw. I don’t remember any sacks until the 2 on the pin-your-ears-back last drive
-DeSean wasn’t a fluke, and I guarantee he takes the ball directly to the ref after scoring from now on.
-Asante got a pick
-Darren Howard seemed to be a factor again
Things I didn’t like:
- I hate to pick on one guy, but bad things happen whenever Considine is on the field.
- Secondary got exposed, although a lot of is is Dallas is better than I gave them credit for. Lito got beat for a TD, Dawkins got beat for a TD, Sheldon got beat for a TD and Asante got a PI in the end zone.
- The kick return. Obviously we got a freebie with the Greg Lewis offensive interference call going our way and the Romo fumble in the end zone, but don’t listen to any Dallas fan who tries to say it should have been a blowout, because they got too many easy scores. T.O. didn’t kill us with his amazing skill, dudes were just biting on double moves. That’s CB play 101 and will get corrected.
Give em credit though, they earned it on their last drive. The McNabb fumble was bad, but he was sharp afterward and there were three drops/bobbles.
we alri
think this was 3rd string and 4th wrs out there and it took all that for dallas to win LETS GO EAGLES YALL CALM DOWN we looked good
desean jackson is the best rcvr on the eagles ... brown and curtis aren't close
jackson > curtis > brown
good game....
My asshole was puckered for the last 15 minutes of the game. WOW.
See you in December.

Nice game - it will be talked about all year
McNabb played really well and 10 receivers with 8 or more yards is phenomenal. Westbrook is the most talented back on the schedule. This is not over. Looking forward to the repeats.
Oh – and this is also the most talented coaching staff on the schedule for the Cowboys this year. They put guys in position to win.
well i have to say that was a great game....
i felt sick most of the game……..you guy’s played outstanding……i’m glad we won, but fucken-A i need some tums now……..anyway the steelers are screwed…last game of the season we meet again, i just hope we both make it there healthy…..now we both need to beat the shit out of NY and the forskins. see you at the end……
I don't need a compass to know which way the wind shines....
