At age 29, Eagles RB Brian Westbrook doesn’t have much leverage in asking for a new contract.

Yeah but heres the problem

There are some teams that would pay him that much money. Therefore he can probably command it

Concretefield can suck it

Is there though? Shawn Alexander is only 2 or 3 years older and he can’t find a job… teams are very very wary about RBs getting up there in years.

It’s a good question. I wonder what the market for a guy like Westbrook would be if he were a free agent.

True about RB age concerns

but Westbrook was and is a completely diffrent back the Shawn Alexander. As a Skins fan, everytime I see a screen develop or some damn delay….I have an Oh S@#T reflex. Plus it is widely rumored that Alexander has no heart.

Minus Westbrook your offense is dead.

I wasn't talking smack

Every Eagles fan I talk to which is a lot because I live in PA, thinks that Westbrook is the one player that the Eagles can’t be without. You disagree?

no i dont, but we got some other players that won’t make our offense completely dead w/o westy

I love BWest, but the team has little game changers other than BWest. Without them, this offense may struggle a little. he puts so much stress on those LB and Safeties and that opens up the O a little. With out them, those LB can press. BWest is very important to this team. I hope we keep him happy.

I think some of that

is because Alexander is coming off an off year with injuries. Westy just had the single best season of any Eagles RB ever. I don’t think he would get 30 mil guaranteed but he would get paid. I think the Eagles will get a deal done seems they can agree on the gauranteed money and length of the extension.

This deal will get done. I hope its not a distraction during camp. The funny thing is, I’m wondering if BWest may just hold out, not to wear himself down. Remeber Cory Simon used to do that all the time. He would use a contract dispute just to keep him out of camp.
